Harbor Freight CoverPro 10 x 10 Heavy Duty Canopy Straight Legs Unboxing One Person Set Up

  • I am unboxing and setting up my new Harbor Freight CoverPro 10 x 10 Heavy Duty Canopy with Straight Legs. I use canopies often at work. A pop-up canopy creates shelter while working outside from the sun, rain, or snow. The straight legs provide 100 square feet. The CoverPro heavy-duty 10 ft. x 10 ft. straight leg pop-up canopy weight almost 60 pounds. This makes it heavier than my previous canopy. Due to first time setting up, it took me a few minutes to get the canopy constructed. I will follow up with a review after using the Harbor Freight Cover Pro Heavy Duty 10 ft. x 10 ft. straight leg canopy.

    one-person trick: attach a strap/rope, string of banana peels or whatever to one leg and secure that leg to a solid support (bumper, tree, your stoned buddy) and then pull the opposite leg. Jiggle as you pull as it helps the hinges open up. Easy-peasy on hard surface, a bit tougher on grass. Also, to aid in wind support, lower the unit down on two legs at the windward side, or bring all legs down to shortest level (like you're storing it). That takes the wobbly out of the legs. We use these all the time at race tracks. You get good at not having them blow around the pits... or worse yet, onto to the race track during a race... That's kinda embarrassing. Use dry silicone lubricant to keep the hinges fresh and smooth. Don't use anything that collects dirt. The nylon/plastic parts will absorb the silicone. So, let it dry for a bit before you try to move the joints. Believe it or not, Ripply, the parts actually swell up for a bit when they absorb the silicone. Use Camp Dry, or other silicone based treatment on the top to help shed water off (slippery) that can help it from pooling water. In heavy rains, lower two legs to shed off the water... If you really want to strengthen it up, criss-cross ratchet straps between all legs in an x-brace fashion.. not too tight or you'll bend a pole. That's how super structures are held together.... Use screw anchors, like for the dog, to hold down the corners in softer ground. The stakes pull right out. On Asphalt or concrete, old bar weights (that your brother doesn't use anymore) can loop through straps and up to the top of the legs... Or say f--k it and just go fishing... Hope these ideas help.

    I must admit giggling through the whole video. I see myself (in this video) always having to do things on my own and struggling through it. Thank you so much for not editing out the struggles. I feel normal now...God Bless

    This canopy sets up in under 2 minutes brand new out of the box. Stand up the canopy remove any and all ties, etc that hold the canopy in the closed position like in this video he removes the ribbon. Then you begin to open the canopy by taking one of the corner legs at a time and begin to walk away from the assembly while holding the leg. Do this at each leg until the canopy opens. Then install the canopy top using the Velcro attached to the top. Install at the 4 corners. Then raise each leg one by one until you achieve desired height. Then use the tie down straps and ground pins to give additional security to canopy so it will not move under higher winds.
    If a good guys of wind cones and you don't have it secured to the ground it can and will take to the air and can travel some distance with the right gusts. .
    Once the top is installed you don't have to remove it too collapse canopy. Simply unstrap the Velcro straps on the scissored arms. Then drop the ball from it's catch I. The leg up top at each corner. This allows you to begin to push the canopy together. Then you can turn it upside down and reduce the legs by pushing the ball lock mechanism

      I like this canapy if I don’t have to move it around often. It has some weight to it. My last one was light. Yet this has steel legs and my older model had aluminum frame. It’s easy to set up. The trick is to open skittle then get under the center and push the center part up and canopy spreads right open. It’s been on my deck most this summer. Just bought new home right before corona screwed things up. Yet it has held up good and taken some abuse from wind. I did take it down before isaias hit. Or it would of been toast.

    I bought one, and TRSUT ME, if I can put it up myself, so can you. I have 2 left hands and cannot follow instructions EVER!! Always have somehow extra parts that goes nowhere (according to me, they gave me extras, just incase lol). It’s not that hard, the only thing I struggled a little bit with, was to straighten the legs to the highest point, otherwise will give it a 4 1/2 ****

      This was first time taking out of box and opening this style canopy. It’s really easy once you realize you just go to center and push up. For the legs since I am 6’2, 6’4 with boots. I usually let the legs open one lock before opening the umbrella

    This canopy is not durable. The joint where the two white metal bars criss crossed is a weak point. That is where the metal bar can bend and broken in half. The hole in the while metal bar right at where the joint is probably weakens that area. To make it last a bit long, we need FOUR persons to open the canopy (one at each corner) in order to open it evenly, and open it very carefully. And try not to use it in high wind. The high wind not only can lift the canopy up, but also can blow the canopy out of shape (that may also weaken the aforementioned joint).

    • @billstools5244
      @billstools5244  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One person can easily open it up if tall and strong enough. I extend the legs one opening. Open canapy very little. Then I go directly under and push up on the center middle piece. The canopy opens right up. The material has some minor tears. It’s been used as a patio umbrella most this summer. I am surprised it survived many windy days. I took it down before isaias hit. Good thing most my area has no power from trees being blown over

      I had my first 10x 10 slat leg canopy for 8 years. The only thing I did was bought a better canopy top. The legs finally gave out during one of the worst storms of last 20 years. The one time I didn't strap down the legs. I have two currently. One is 6 years old, the other 3.5 years old. I'm buying another today. If you treat them with a bit of care they will last you a decent amount of time for the price.
