- Terry Dean is an electronics wizard and thief. After he is released from jail, he is hit by a car while saving a little girl life. While in the hospital, he dreams that God visits him and tells him he's an Angel, and must start doing good things to make up for his past life. Not believing it at first, he soon becomes convinced he must be an Angel. Not having any Angel powers yet, he must use his own experiences and talents to make good things happen.
Just such a great flick. 80’s and 90’s was the best era for films
Absolutely one of the best movies I've ever seen.
Amazing line: “I see a man in a wheelchair, acting like a jerk in a wheelchair…”. There’s a lesson here….
I love this scene. All Steve wanted was to be treated like a man.
His death at the end of the movie was sad.
My aunt played the mother in this film. Doreen Lang. A good actress, I think.

Me thinks it's about time this classic was reintroduced to the general public should I say in the not to distant future
I agree. I loved this movie as a kid and love it still. More people should see it. Pretty funny!

Almost an Angel, this was one of the movie that stuck with me. The idea of lessons and friends. Who would think years later Elias Koteas would be in the movie "Zodiac"
I LOVE this film!!!
Fact: Paul Hogan originally wanted Patrick Swayze to play Steve Garner, but Patrick Swayze declined to do Ghost and Elias Koteas was cast.
Swayze would be very intense in the role and would carry the pain and desperation of the character very well, the need for a friend to believe in him, that need to be seen as a man again
and that would have been worth seeing
However Elias Koteas made this role, and I can't think of anyone playing it better
Swayze was a leading man since Dity Dancing so would not have chosen this supporting role over the lead in Ghost
I would not have missed the chance to see Elias in this
But yes it would have been great to see Swayzes interpretation of this character, maybe his most emotional and damaged since Tiger Warsaw
That was like asking Al Pacino to do an epsiode of The Sopranos, instead of making The Godfather.
One movie I wanted my mom to see before she died. I never got that chance. I cried my eyes out at the end of this movie.
Funny. Underrated movie.
Elias Koteas is awesome in everything he's in but this is maybe one of the most poignant scenes he's ever filmed, capturing the essence of the character
We knew Paul from the two Croc films at this point and he was channelling a lot of Dundee into this role, in particular this scene, the wisdom, toughness, intelligence, insight
This could have been a corny forgotten few minutes in a forgotten movie
Instead it becomes a timeless lesson that we watch and enjoy 30 years later
And that is down to the powerful acting

Underrated! How in the world did this movie bomb? It's safe to assume that Siskel and Ebert were shills, paid to artificially engineer the stock price of box office films. Rotten Tomatoes audience reviews are almost always the opposite of critic reviews.

Good movie. A shame it's never been released on DVD in New Zealand.
Same in the UK but I got it on a region 1 it plays ok in my multi region dvd player

The part was originally going to be played by Patrick Swayze but he passed on it to do Ghost.

I also love this movie. But it's a fairy tail. Like almost every movie.
But what scares me is that humans actually believes in a God.
Sometimes I think I LIVE in a movie. That I will wake up some day and realize it all was a dream.
That almost entire world do believe in talking snakes or rebirth or what ever they believe.
The scary part is that Donald Trump are also an Christian. The man leading the most powerful nation in the world.
