    I personally would do the separate bassinets. The reason why I would go that route is because if you get the twin one and one of the babies start crying they might wake the other baby up. I feel the two bassinets would be better for you and Justin's sanity lol

    As a mother of two sets of twins , the double bassinet is the best option. If for some reason they need their own space, you can pull out Emma’s old one! Good Luck

    I just wanted to mention that yellow is a gender neutral color!!! I love yellow for nurseries, as it is such a happy color and babies bring so much joy. 😊

    • @laurak4961
      @laurak4961 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Same with brown and green and orange and even blue and salmon... but I found it’s not the colors that. Are the issue it’s the styles that are usually very girly or boyish like frills and bows or ties and trucks etc

      Taylor Af in my mind all colors are gender neutral except for pink and purple. I definitely would not do grey for a nursery. It's such drab color. But that's my opinion. Yellow is a good idea!

    • @tayloraf214
      @tayloraf214 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think you can make anything work for either gender, depending on the other things you dress with it! I had a family member who had 4 boys and had a whoopsie pregnancy, of course it was a girl. She was thrilled, but she made some of the boy’s hand me downs work for the girl as well, like pairing a Dino onsie under an overall dress, or using some of their little pants with girlier tops. She made it work so she didn’t have to buy a completely new wardrobe. If you find a piece of baby clothing you love, usually you can find a way to make it work!

      Do not use yellow for babies. It’s such an irritating colour. This has even been scientifically proven. Something I learned in my interior decorating course. Avoid yellow, yellow based colours, white, and off white colours (including beiges), unless you want a colicky baby.
      Rooms and houses housing kids younger than 6 years old should avoid decorating in these colours or even dressing them in these colours.

    Go ahead and get clothes that aren’t white/gray! As long as they don’t say anything like “daddy’s girl” or “big boy” etc., all colors are gender neutral!!!! A baby girl can wear a dinosaur onesie and a baby boy can wear a ladybug onesie!

    Our twins weight was 2.5 and 3.4 so we made sure that we had some preemie cloths and diapers.
    I found that two bassinet's worked best. This way one twin could sleep while I was feeding the other. A three seater stroller was a life saver at the time as I had a toddler (1 1/2 Year old ). Hope this is helpful.

The best tip I ever got that saved me soooo much money with my first, because he hated bottles, was to buy a single bottle. Try the single bottle before opening the big multi pack. If baby doesn’t like the bottle then return the bigger pack and try a new bottle. Best of luck and sending love and prayers to you and your family.

She had her guests bring either a pack of onesies, blankets, bottles or diapers and wipes with a gift card. We’ve got a huge family so of course not all of them got the memo. But most did. And it was a MASSIVE help.

    I had twin boys 2 years ago. The only “twin” specific item we could not have lived without was a dedicated twin feeding/nursing pillow. I used the My Breastfriend Twin pillow, and it was BY FAR the best purchase for them. I took it with me to hospital and used it immediately. Within a couple of weeks, I was able to nurse them without anyone helping me because of that pillow. We did supplement a little at first until I caught up to feeding 2, but after that, I used that pillow to nurse for a year plus some. The only drawback is that you have to feed sitting upright, legs crossed, on a bed with a support pillow under the back clasp, but it gets normal

    Not sure if you do this with Emma’s “baby on board” magnet / suction but, on the inside list emergency contacts in sharpie and on both sides off all car seats list or even make labels with each kids name, DOB and any known allergies or conditions! Lord forbid, but I case of an emergency first responders can provide the best care! My dad a paramedic of 25 years has done this for as long as I can remember on all car seats!

    Being an identical twin, I’d say you should put them together in one. Twins naturally comfort each other because they were together in the womb (#wombmates) and being close to each other helps them feel safe. Also will help to foster a tight bond between them ☺️

    BTW, 9 times out of 10 they won't be sleeping at the same time so a bassinet for each is probably best and if the happen to be on monitors for being early, they will have to have their own. The monitors from the hospital can pick up the breathing of both if they're together, so you'll want to have separate readings. Also 2 vibrating bouncers. They'll be extra hands when Emma needs you. 💕

And really, if one of you needs to lay down with a sick baby, or one that can’t settle to sleep, there will be a place available. And her room is big enough, and really she doesn’t play in there, because she has her play area in the front.

Then it won’t be such a task when they’re born!!

    My Aunt has twins. They are 3 months old. What she does for feeding is separate them feed one then when that one is done feed the other. They get a little fussy but when doing it that way its easier on you for when Justin isnt home or visa versa. Then for bath time give one a bath then the other. Setting their routine to be one after the other keeps them on a schedule that works for the parents so you arent trying to do both of them at the same time. It works so good and honestly takes a lot of the stress away.

    I have 6 year old twins, they've always slept separately and that's always been my preference. Generally, they dont disturb each other when they cry, though they obviously also feed off of each others moods occasionally. In the end, it's up to you guys, you know your babies better than anyone else! Congratulations and good luck!

    Get the double bassinet and keep them on one wall. As a mom you’ll always wake to see how babies are doing and it will be easier to keep an eye on both. And I’m sure they will both be on the same feeding routine. So excited though, I’ve always wanted twins personally!

    We use the exact same diapers and wipes. They are our favorite too.
    Try not to worry about nursing two, it may take a while to get in the swing of things but you will figure out what works best for you and your new little ones. It’s gonna be amazing no matter what happens.
    So excited for you guys!!

    I tried the twin one and it stunk. When you wanted to separate them you couldnt! We had problems with twin a waking up twin b all night from crying because they were literally right next to eachother.

      I get that, but they also would still have Emma's bassinet if they did need to separate. Some twins settle better together, others don't

    With twins, you might find that as newborns they’ll be small enough to share a normal sized bassinet and might prefer to share one so they are still next to each other :) I have friends who have had twins and they’ve shared until they were big enough to have to use separate ones

    Download the app 5d Planner. I use it whenever I need to figure out what layout works best for a specific room. You could also try to sidecar the twins' cribs to each other and make it one large crib to save you some space. Pinterest has some great ideas for twin nurseries!!

    I feel that the twins would do better in the twin bassinet. They have been together comforting each other, and co existing from the beginning if their life. They put twins together in the NICU (if they are super early) to help them thrive. Research it if you like. But I think it would be a huge benefit to keep them together. ☺️

    I would definitely do separate bassinets. We loved having them on each side of the bed. Also made it easier when traveling. One of our girls slept a lot better than the other and It wouldn't have worked having them together. Plus it will also be easier to resale, re use, or store than a twin one which is something to keep in mind since twins are so expensive.

    I would put the twins together in the twin bassinet. Studies show that twins, or any multiples, do better when they're together. Also, you might want to consider pumping one side while nursing on the other. Tandem nursing can be difficult, but it can be done. If Justin is going to help with feedings, though, it would be great to have your milk.

    I would skip the toddler bed and go right to a twin or full.. if you worried about falls you can get a bed rail mesh thing that slips right under the mattress and a little staircase

    As a mum of twins i always used a double bassinet as they would like to be together, they settled better, when they went in their cots in their room they were outwards and pushed together and they slept so well through the night because they used to look for each other xx

    Definitely go ahead with colors. Pastels of any color are pretty safe. Plus, if the twins are identical you might not want them in exactly identical everything to limit confusion

    • @sweetcanada17

      Do not use yellow for babies. It’s such an irritating colour. This has even been scientifically proven. Something I learned in my interior decorating course. Avoid yellow, yellow based colours, white, and off white colours (including beiges), unless you want a colicky baby.

    The benefit to setting up a nursery while you're still pregnant is because you (may) have more energy and time to put into it versus after when baby(ies) are born.

    I think the whole shared bassinet thing is personal preference. I know my sister and I (fraternal girl twins) shared a bassinet/crib from the time we were born. At the hospital the only way we would stop crying was if we were together. ❤️ being a twin is the best! So excited for y’all!

    I’m excited I can’t wait till the babies are born. You could on the wall where the cribs are going measure the wall n find the center and paint one wall baby pink if one is a girl and the other if a boy a baby blue with their names up there.

    As a twin mama and a Halo bassinet user (with my singleton), I would get a separate one solely for the purpose of resale! I was able to sell our single Halo for over half of what they cost new on Marketplace. I doubt I would’ve been able to sell a twin bassinet as easily. We actually used two cosleepers in the top of a pack n play next to my side of the bed for the first few months with the twins. It was a much cheaper option for us and a huge space saver. But if you still want to go with Halo, you may even be able to fit two bassinets next to your side of the bed!

    I've seen both the regular Halo bassinet and the twin one in person (I work at a children's secondhand store). I would also suggest doing 2 separate bassinets because they would likely fit in them longer. The twin bassinet gives less room for each baby than 2 bassinets would. As others have mentioned, the person who sold the twin bassinet at the store told me they barely used it because the babies would wake each other up. But I have seen twin nursing pillows for tandem nursing (My Brest Friend makes one), which may be something to look into if you think it might be useful for you. They're larger with more space on both of the sides for 2 babies in the football hold.

  • @trishaheckethorn1382
    @trishaheckethorn1382 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think you should get 2 bassinets so they can be near each other and sooth each other or “hear” each other when convent but you can also move/separate the bassinets for when one is awake and one isn’t? Or for night feedings when you have 1 baby and Justin has the other? I just feel like it gives you a lot more options.

    I have twin boys make sure to have some preemie diapers & preemie clothes. My boys were 5.2 & 5.9 & were in preemies for a good 2.5 months in clothes & diapers & for the bassinet to save money I would just get another halo bassinet that you already have! I never had the twin one but I just had a normal pack & play with the twin bassinet on top

    We used a regular crib. Put them side by side first couple of months, then moved them to each end of crib, until ready for their own crib.
    Very seldom woke the other twin up, slept right through.

    If you plan on putting the cribs next to each other make sure the gap is big enough that they won't get their heads stuck if they try to climb out. I've heard of a twin who got stuck between and was hanging by his head when he tried to climb into his sister's crib.

    Long sleeves for air conditioning inside. Long sleeved thin cotton sleepers will be perfect. And get at least 10 for each. You'll go through them fast, especially if they're spitters! 👶👶
