According to a google search, the world record is held by Princeton Electric Speedboating at 114.2 MPH. I wonder, is was your 116 record not official. They also set their speed in October of 2023, rather than the August 2023 that you say your record was in. Either way it's a shame not to mention them at all, especially since they're just a team of college students who are working towards the same goals as you guys.
I have set records but to make it official you need to pay money, just because it wasn't observed by an official doesn't mean it didn't happen, I have been 132 on a pontoon boat with 2 600r outboards according to gps since its not a production vehicle its also not always recognised
@@mariebaxter473 I mean, the whole point of this and many other racing programs is a proof of concept so they can bring a version of it to the consumer market
wow how cool!! i believe there is a 100% big market for electric boats and to see guys who are doing the boats i love(performance skater) is just awesome. now having said that there will always be a market for gas power just like automobiles. being a car fanatic and boat fanatic ,cars are slowly gaining a larger piece of the market but will never exceed the gas car market but to have 50-50 would be great it would only make things better to have diversity while being more friendly in every aspect that is different than gas i.e. emissions, sound etc. the motorsports might take a good deal longer just like formula-e has not rally taken off. people want the sound, vibration the race gas fragrance but for recreational boating i sincerely applaud your outstanding dedication to bring this performance and tech to market. i grew up when cigarette hit the 90mph record and still have the motorboat and sailing issue w/it on the cover but to see how the powerboat industry has come along is truly a blessing it ensures the next generation will love your boat like i loved a douglass marine skater with sterling engines and Matt Alcone at the helm and Jerry Gilbreath throttleman so there is a core love of performance and I think your boat will go down I history and become an icon. that is a dream. I wish you all the success that you will surely receive and I thank you for pushing the limits and being passionate about performance. cheers
Amazing that you don't mention supercapacitors for the racing outboards. With them press the SC boost to whack a few thousands extra watts into the motors for 15 - 20seconds and have a SC disconnect once you hit 160mph. Super Capacitors kick ass big time. Ask the tech team why you aren't using them in this attempt. Our 800v Tesla SC pack was 21kg (~45lbs) but was capable of >300amps @ 800vdc instant power for >30secs. Your motors will scream like the props fell off and you'll leap out of the water with your HP rating going from 180hp each to about 600hp each it will be like instantly unloading your props. You'll get a record to beat.
I'm extremely interested in the Tesla project you mentioned. An additional 240+kw would be like a 300hp shot of eNitrous for 30sec: incredible! Can you give me a link that describes its development in detail and how to contact you? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
the floor is quite raised I imagine for batteries. what is the height from the passenger floor to the ....I guess gunwhale not sure what its called the cap edge? it looks like when standing at the helm its much less height. is that an optical illusion. it also looks the the seats are pretty much mounted to the floor and the driving position is much more car like. you can probably get low in the water and help decrease drag and gain speed. do you man/ufacturer your own hills and design them according to the needs of the electric powerplants?
I recorded it on my cellphone... the other guy in the helicopter is.. the cool down of battery tech is HUGE ON battery tech.. dipoles and such -we just lake ppl
Yet another impressive electric watercraft using old propeller design. Why would they do this without using a new propeller design like the ones by Sharrow Marine!?
It usually takes two big v8 to obtain those speeds. I would of understood it taking a year to make that is lots of work yet you popped one out in less than 30 days, that's probably a record of it's own
there are quite a few cats that will hit 120 + with twin 300 v6's. and go alot further. and are super quite and no "smoke" as the EV guys like to claim 4 stroke outboard produce.
@@ct1762 exactly what I was going to say. 116mph might be impressive for electric. In 2005 an Allison XB2002 went 116.594mph. That’s a 20’ bass boat with a single v6 outboard. I don’t ever see electric powered boats being a realistic option. A charging station on the water would be an interesting sight.
@@precisiondiesel225 yes outboards are extremely efficient when it comes to speed per hp. they have shore power charging at marinas, but no way they'd let a 20' bowrider tie up the space to charge for an hour and have looong lines waiting, especially when they could put a giant yacht there for a day or more! what happens when a storm comes and you run out of battery because it was too rough? who comes to save you?
Congrats to the team and well done on you achievement . Advise: Better if you interviewed the engineers without all the marketing speal (words) which you went overboard on and took away from the flow of the video....made the video hard to watch.
I've seen electric cars that were somehow driven into the water and when the batteries got wet the car looked like Chernobyl. A boat with batteries doesn't sound to good.
Hopefully the batteries are encased to prevent fires. I use lithium batteries under water and have had some batteries ruined by shorting out in the water but never a fire. But also my cased batteries have been fine. So it can be done without issue. Also let’s not forget pretty much every tournament bass fisherman has multiple lithium batteries in their boats…
@chevyon37s I agree, but the batteries used in a bass boat (3 or 4) are a minute amount compared to the ones used in automobiles and I would think approximately the size of the ones you use yourself. I've thrown a lithium car battery in water and it will catch fire. It takes a few minutes but it assuredly does have a meltdown.
Because your RC boat isn’t 48’+ long with two humans inside. Electric doesn’t scale well due to the weight of the batteries and the increased drag from a real boat hull in water and air.
this food tastes like ass. jr, dont be mad at me,i tried. u know what u gotta be punished also for not bringing me chicken wings. get out my house for the night go out and party with yor friends. come on jr, dont make me go party u know i ate partying , get out before i change my mind. be back by sun up also..... damn lets go girls...

If you add more power and improve aerodynamics, you’ll go faster. As an armchair /recliner/lazy boy, Monday quarterback expert, I know stuff about things and I know things about stuff. You’re welcome, I’ll expect to see my name on credit list.
In 1986 Evinrude set the outboard speed record with its F1 derived V8. With one motor. So to hear this guy boast "electric is faster than gas" is a joke, especially when OMC did it with a 2 way average of 176mph. so not even close. they hit a duck and the motor was running way rich as well. many, including the driver Bob Wartinger, were certain 200mph was within reach but they ran out of time and $. so please... you guys arent even close.
They would make a ton more money as an Offshore RC Boat company!! I know I would be their first customer! Bankrupt you say, HMM!! I might buy it and turn it into a RC Boat company!
I hope so many manufacturers can see this, I’m not really mad abt electric outboards but just please make them normal looking! I hate the way some of the electric engines look now. This is coming from a 13 year old who loves race boats. Just please make em normal
"It was priceless, but better in the paycheck" 😂 man I think we humans are fools and are easily manipulated by shiney cool things that cost a lot of money.
My 21ft bass boat with a single yamaha 250 does 95 w.o. soooo how is this electric boat impressive??? Also, my bass boat has further range...just saying.
You must be very very proud at what your team has accomplished at Vision Marine and rightfully so

The Ozarks shootout is not an official record format. To have an official record you need to do a pass in either direction within an hour.

Beautiful boat design, smart philosophy and technology.
I’m curious, how long do the batteries last and what’s the price tag??????
More of an advert than a serious challenge , but still nice to watch .

Just a pity the litium mining is worse to the envirnment. Such passion for speed is contagious.

Talking about charging the batteries after one run of what 1/2 mile. Gonna be a long time before I switch to anything electric.
The whole part about going fast in the boat is big power and keeping weight down. 116MPH IS SLOW FOR A BOAT🤯😢
Fast and slow are relative terms.
I know right, the fastest remote controlled boats in the world are electric and have gone much faster than 116mph
put somw solar panels on top so it charges while you drink beer lol
HYDRO THUNDER!!!!
So you go out on full tilt for 15 minutes then have to go back to the chargers
It's too bad. This company's going bankrupt. They're currently only worth around 3 million dollars. I wonder if someone will buy them out.
Have some faith, when you work hard, good things happen!
What assets do they have, and any ongoing operations?
Sure 3 mil is "cheap". But if you get nothing its kinda expensive

Why the super irritating dramatic music instead of the sound of the motors!?!
0:04 oxymoron record x2

weight of batteries.

just make a stupid high torque eletric engine and gearbox it u'll need active aero
Awesome, now u guys just need to remove some engines and go for 195mph, so we once and for all can prove electric is the superrior engine 🎉😍
Looks like a awesome thumbnail but lost me at electric
