Most bomber flight decks aren't very sexy compared to fighters. Probably more akin to the flight deck of a brand new commercial airliner: offset joysticks and glass display. The computer power beneath the surface is the power of the B21.
So we can design a 6th generation stealth bomber that can hit pretty much anything from anywhere without refueling, but we can’t design hangar doors that close at the same time.

The older B2 is already stealthier than the F22. Stealth fighters can be detected by low frequency radars and even civilian ATC due to the vertical stabilizers they require for high-G maneuvers (getting a high frequency radar lock for a missile though is a different story). But if the tailless B2 is already a ghost to air defenses, it has me wondering how much more invisible the B21 gets.
@@danielh1708 The B2 if considered to have a higher level of stealth because it maintains a lower average cross section across a wider range of frequencies. Can reach any theater from anywhere means this thing can stay airborne without a tanker for a day or so - which, combined with the stealth, also makes it an amazing flying combat intelligence center. Kind of like the F-35, but stealthier, bigger payload, and higher altitude so it can recon on its own without really needing an AWACS somewhere behind. Imagine being an enemy pilot that suddenly gets his entire squadron locked by AMRAAMS coming down from 100.000+ feet altitude out of what seemed to be thin air.
Imagine if they use the B-21 to missile truck AMRAAMs to launch in conjunction with data link from F-35s. Being an ace in a bomber would be wild Edit: AIM-260 would be better, AMRAAM just came to mind at first
@@cordellej Given that there is no escort aircraft that can meet the range of the B-21, I would absolutely bet that it will be able to carry AIM-260 and AIM-120D when it enters service, and I would not be surprised if they give it a quad rack of AIM-9X internally as well just for oh shit capability in case anything gets through the BVR missile screen, since the 9X can be launched extreme off bore, and there's no reason they couldn't mount a turreted launcher as well to give it an even further advantage. That's one thing I've been surprised not to have already seen on the B2, but I guess it just wasn't considered necessary at the time (and the tech probably wasn't all there yet). The B-21 is basically going to be one of the most capable strike aircraft of all time, and it'll almost certainly have some ability to fight back against enemy aircraft, even if it doesn't get the same range out of the missiles it carries compared to a faster fighter jet. A solid and sober analysis...essentially we don't know much about the B-21 Raider...but the Russians and Chinese (and Iran and North Korea) now have to factor in a 6th generation bomber into whatever plans they may be scheming.
And factoring it in leads to "let's find a diplomatic solution". Or maybe they want to fight an invisible gorilla that may or may not be there but once again, it's invisible. And you know it exists.
@@phillipbanes5484 America rarely shares advanced nuclear submarine technology, and yet, here we are. Containing China is more important to the US than having exclusive tech, and has shown that with the AUKUS partnership, will continue to proceed on the same path, and both Australia and Japan are strong partners in the Pacific, while the UK is a NATO ally best positioned to counter Russian threats while freeing up US resources for their Asian refocusing. Also, the B-21 is largely just F-35 hardware and avionics in a bomber package and doesn't represent a whole lot of advanced technology that isn't already shared globally with the F-35 partner nations already, so it's not that big of a leap.
I think its safe to call the B-21a superweapon in it's own right. The sheer power and capability of this platform gives an advantage and power projection capability that hasn't been seen since the US had atomic exclusivity in the late 1940s.

Their comments make me wonder of they haven't developed a low observability tanker to support combat aircraft in theater. I honestly could see a "KB-2" evolution at some point. I also could see a B-21 loaded with AIM-260s, or AIM-120Ds supporting tankers and AWACS firing their weapons directed by forward deployed F-35s, F-22s, and F-15EXs.
Anyone suggesting fusion propulsion has read too much sci-fi. Especially because China and the EU lead in fusion reactor development and because these machines are massive and far from being viable energy sources currently. The first application for these machines will be energy productions. The first military application will be on ships.
I remember a story from a few f117 pilots who stated it’d absolutely hold its own in a dogfight if it had guns. Makes me think about possible future fighters
@@JohnWick-qr4yc it will never go away. When stealth meets stealth it will return, because when missles no longer track you go back to WVR so the dogfight is where it will end up going back to
An interesting thing about the F-117 - it's so unstable without the flight control computers that it would be impossible to fly. In fact, flight instability, if kept in check by a flight control computer is, at least with some aircraft, a good thing. It makes them more maneuverable. Or so I've been told by people I trust.
@@JohnWick-qr4yc Dogfighting will never actually become obsolete. As stated above, when opposing stealth is/becomes good enough, and Wez jamming stronger, and engine heat insulation advances to a certain point, missiles and ranged attacks will become ineffective and obsolete. This leaves only dogfighting. Sure, we may have designed and built some sort and forms of laser weaponry and various other devices, but with every weapon advancement comes an even stronger defensive and tactics progression. There will ALWAYS be an aircraft in the military arsenal capable of and designed to dogfight in a pretty heavy degree.
@@davidabarak Even the Wright Flyer I has some instability. Without correcting inputs from the pilot she would have rolled over at an increasing rate (instead of acting like a pendulum and slowly roll from side to side at an decreasing rate). So called relaxed stability predates flight computers by quite some margin.
The b22 was already the stealthiest aircraft we had because it had limitations intentionally strictly made for bombing runs and high altitude so the b-21 raider I would expect to be even more stealthier higher altitude obviously a lot longer range it's going to be fun
There was also something else very evident about the rollout, too. Notice how they were cautious to wait to roll it out, and then the aircraft never came all the way out the hanger. Then, after the speaches were done, they quickly rolled it back in. My guess is that this thing must have improved exhaust outlets designed to fully counter the IR and UV sensors, which Russian aircraft (supposedly) have, and they dont want them seen on spy satellites. The whole point of building this thing originally was that China and Russia were employing new long wavelength radars that would make it harder for the B2. If they adjusted for all of this, then this thing may be impossible to see coming or going. Well, I suppose we'll find out in 20 years when the 7th Gen comes out.
You can't counter IR sensors (as in "hiding heat"), and FLIR were introduced as far back as F-14 Tomcat (later changed to camera that could _identify_ bombers from 70km away !). On Legion/Litening3/SniperXR pod, not to mention EO-DAS it will stick out even with these new variable cycle and thermodynamically more efficient engines GE builts for F-35. YOu counter IR sensors by putting something between them and exaust and mixing it with cooler air, but this is very...limited.
They may not even have these developed yet. IR limiting nozzles cost billions to design. Besides, you cannot hide heat from the skin of the aircraft at high speed. With modern sensors this thing will be seen from 100km away - and in 10 years from 150km away.
@Tom K I am 100% confident that the US military would spend the billions needed to design nozzels that limit IR signatures on its new aircraft. And it actually is possible to limit the IR signiture of the hull too. They use materials capable of bleeding off temperatures in rocket production and for space craft. So I am 100% confident they figured out ways to at least minimize it. Remember, it doesn't need to be completely invisible, it just needs to disburse enough to make it something their sensors will overlook.
@@piotrd.4850 _"You can't counter IR sensors..."_ I believe it's possible _if_ the exhaust can be sufficiently mixed with ambient air. But that's a huge "if," and may not be one that has been or ever will be resolved.

I was hoping we would get the GS rundown on this. Didn’t expect it so soon, but am very happy!
Loving the new style of video !
It looks like a smaller B-2 with a beer belly, all the good stuff is stuff you cant see (stealth, avionics, sensors, weapon systems, etc.).
That's a nasty bit of kit!
i like this new "documentary" thing your doing, its inteesting.
The level of freedom radiating off that thing is so dense it bends light
Democracy too😳
A solid and sober analysis...essentially we don't know much about the B-21 Raider...but the Russians and Chinese (and Iran and North Korea) now have to factor in a 6th generation bomber into whatever plans they may be scheming.
And factoring it in leads to "let's find a diplomatic solution". Or maybe they want to fight an invisible gorilla that may or may not be there but once again, it's invisible. And you know it exists.
Congratulations from India. Way to go...
That was a fantastic breakdown! Thanks!
The cockpit glass makes it look like a mockup though.
We need B-21 vs B-2 dogfight!
They're bombers...
Although I suppose it would be interesting to see 18 wheelers racing up the Pike Peak too.
So 6th generation includes autonomy from support forces when necessary?
@@DefinitelyNotEmma it doesn't mean "no refueling" like I felt the video implied. Weird thing to imply.
@@DefinitelyNotEmma carrying more gas is not 6th gen tech.
Australia need these.
I think we'll see 20-45 sold to the UK, Australia, and Japan.
Incredible bomber thanks for sharing
I think its safe to call the B-21a superweapon in it's own right. The sheer power and capability of this platform gives an advantage and power projection capability that hasn't been seen since the US had atomic exclusivity in the late 1940s.
Every base that operates these will have a lot of Chinese restaurants with really good cctv security systems soon, if they don't already.
That airplane looks sick holy moly. When I saw it on pictures it went straight away to the 1st place for me. Straight away 1st place... The most beautiful, scary looking airplane ever made! Iam pretty sure.Beautiful but hella scarry... This thingy is a BEAST... I can imagine its future weapons... not just a normal cruise missiles, but stealth, low altitude, super fast(probably near hypersonic speeds), cruise missiles. If they will make that weapons, that means thats the end for any SAM systems what is developed and built so far for sure.
Nope. It's not even supersonic.
That UFO profile has proven to be remarkably successful. How many aircraft sharing one does this make now???
Their comments make me wonder of they haven't developed a low observability tanker to support combat aircraft in theater. I honestly could see a "KB-2" evolution at some point. I also could see a B-21 loaded with AIM-260s, or AIM-120Ds supporting tankers and AWACS firing their weapons directed by forward deployed F-35s, F-22s, and F-15EXs.
God willing, we'll never see the true capability of this aircraft.
Anyone suggesting fusion propulsion has read too much sci-fi.
Especially because China and the EU lead in fusion reactor development and because these machines are massive and far from being viable energy sources currently. The first application for these machines will be energy productions. The first military application will be on ships.
Crazy how we're getting closer and closer to Ace Combat superweapons.
I remember a story from a few f117 pilots who stated it’d absolutely hold its own in a dogfight if it had guns.
Makes me think about possible future fighters
Dog fighting is a thing of the past has been for a long while now
@@JohnWick-qr4yc it will never go away.
Me: "But Santa, I been A Good Boy All Year"
Invisible missile truck? That would be very effective.
The b22 was already the stealthiest aircraft we had because it had limitations intentionally strictly made for bombing runs and high altitude so the b-21 raider I would expect to be even more stealthier higher altitude obviously a lot longer range it's going to be fun

Love all your videos, but these are my FAVs. Keep up thr GREAT work, thx!!!
I just realized that special operation units can use this for halo drops! No more C-130!
As long as people can jump from the bomb bays I guess lol
That is a good idea, though
Great video !!!
Cool! A new Horten!
Consciousness itself.
@Chuck Farley Yes, but in the Petagon's defense, they didn't know that until recently.
@@piotrd.4850 _"You can't counter IR sensors..."_
I believe it's possible _if_ the exhaust can be sufficiently mixed with ambient air. But that's a huge "if," and may not be one that has been or ever will be resolved.

When China develops the H-20, it would compare to the already retired F-117 and would be outdated by now

It’s a real probability that this thing will be damned near invisible, time will tell …. With the present state of macro events across the globe that may not be that long either ?
They couldn’t even get the metal curtains to close in sync.
also dont forget that a 6th gen stealth includes VISUAL stealth
Well, it looks cool, and that's the important thing
It needs to have mini jets to deploy like Protoss in Starcraft. lol.
it looks so cool!!!
There is stuff in the b21 that we will never know!
An updated B-2 with the same price tag, although claimed otherwise.
Wonderful video!
