Testing my DIY Eye Mechanism for an Animatronic Arduino Project

  • I made this easy DIY eye mechanism from store-bought items without 3D printing. Although I do have a 3D printer and plan to use it for building animatronic mechanisms in the future, I wanted to challenge myself to build one from scratch.
The clevis joints on the servos a bit tight and one keeps popping open when it comes to rapid movements so I may either try loops or tie rods.

Im a beginner when it comes to servo motors / coding and im trying to learn more on them. I dont know which servo motors are the strongest/best, do you perhaps know were its best to buy servo motors. Also that is amazing and I can't wait to see the finished product!!! ⭐

Microservos (SG90) are great for getting started with and then you can move on to larger and stronger servos like the MG995. I have a tutorial on getting started with servos and Arduino: racheldebarros.com/projects/arduino-projects/how-to-control-servo-motors-with-arduino-and-code/

That looks like an awesome prop, I'm a DIY Haunter new to your channel. I couldn't really see the failure mode of the linkage because it happened fast.. but if the nut loosened then fell out then that's why I use Nylock nuts on my props especially pneumatics... if the connector link failed, is that a 3D printed part? I'm new to 3D printing and I don't yet trust them.

did the servo hardware slip off near the end? if so easy fix probably.

Yep - the clevis popped open. There's not much play in the joints so I'll try tie rods instead to see how that goes.
