In Cell you also can direct a specific place for every hot: Create a new Indicator, name it like "hot 1" add the spell ID, set up the anchor point. Do this X times and you have all your hots on fixed places. If you play multiple healers you can also add for example Reju, RM, Riptide to "hot 1" so you don´t have this work for every spec

Malea. He is a priest player from northern sky. His grid2 profile is the single best party/raid frame I have ever healed with. The way it tracks certain buffs is perfect for me. The entire hp bar changes colour when they have atonement on them for example. So you can quickly see who didnt get tagged with it because they are a completely different colour, rather than trying to see who is missing an icon.
I have gone from using Elv ui frames, vuhdo, stock blizz frames and stuck on his grid2 profile. It is one of those addons that is 100000% modular and granular. And out the box it is a steaming pile of shit. Have a gander at some of his boss kills and you will see it in action.

I've been using grid2 for basically my entire healing career and I only figured out how to show test frames with it this expansion. Until now I always just made friends group up with me when I needed to adjust the placement lmao. I will never use another raid frame addon but good lord is the user experience kind of abysmal. I can't really fault anyone for deciding not to put in the time and effort of learning it even if I do think it offers the best customization for raid frames out there.

I do the same with grid. Frame changes color with atonement and has a progress bar on the frame to track time remaining. Among other things. Can't play without it. I use it for all heal specs too, not just disc.
Grid is the king of displaying info in quickly readable ways. No other addon has the indicators and support that grid does. It's the objectively superior addon. Just takes a bit more time to set up, but it's well worth the effort.

Been using cell for a while, and not being able to sort myself in a specific spot was driving me nuts, was gonna ask how, but you explained that they added the feature in the end. What I find really annoying is that there isn’t a profile sort of section where u can select different profiles for different characters, you can only make changes based on roles. For example you can’t disable showing party on one character and enable it on another. If you disable it in one spot its disabled for all other characters too. I try to work around it by just not loading cell on characters that aren’t healers, but its super awkward. I sometimes heal on my paladin, but most of the time i want cell frames hidden as I use another frame for dps.

Healer frame type stuff aside, If you want to limit your FPS drops / frame lag as much as possible and have a smooth framerate during raid (assuming you have adequate RAM etc), I'd highly recommend using one of the X3D Processors from AMD (5800x3d, or 7800x3d, etc). The extra L3 cache on them hard carries FPS on wow since it's such a CPU heavy game that can utilize the 3D V-cache tech well. I basically never drop below 100 FPS in raid now, and I'm typically at 130+, even during bloodlust when there are a lot of mechanics going out. The difference was unreal.

The only reason I haven't switched wholesale over to Cell is because I can't seem two find two important functions:
    1) Health Bar Colored by Debuff - Blue Health Bar for magic, green for poison, etc. The Debuff section only seems to let you color the outline of the Debuff Icon, which isn't that helpful at a glance.
    2) ELVUI-style block-color indicators, instead of spell icons. I dont want or need to see my Echo Icon 25 times. It helps visual clarity just to see a yellow block ticking down, versus an icon fading away.
If anybody knows how to make this happen, or, hey, if a Cell Dev is reading this - hook me up

I switched yesterday when a guildy told me about it and I’m already in love with it. I’ve used healbot for 10 years and I was ready to drop it within hours of having cell. The raid debuff section almost instantly sold me on it. It’s such a pain to set up in healbot. Cell has all the debuffs for raids and dungeons sorted by bosses in a list and you just enable/ disable what you want to see. You can also set up a hot key to black list debuffs right off the raid frame when they pop up. It’s amazing

Suf - just work bad for heal.
Vuhdu, have biggest impact for fps, really bad settings, and some problems back time to time.
Grid - love it but no longer supported
Grid2 - is good, low impact on fps, a lot of settings, small details, a setup can be hard like vuhdu. sometimes triggered me, but it’s really good. For start, before u know it, it’s good to get nice string like from madskillz for example.
Cell - fine for start, very easy for setup. Looks great. Low impact on fps. But sometimes makes me angry.

This year when I became a full time healer I went away from the base ui frames. In the past I have had elvui. This year I gave Grid2 a shot and I know your thoughts on it. I admit its very hard to learn it and I myself used another profile but in the 6 months I have had it I have made it my own and learned all there is. I agree its for the type of person that wants everything in its place which I do like. Good thing in War Within is that with all the classes getting reworks I can go to wowhead and bring up defensives and add them to a defensive cooldown indicator. Only need the spell ID really. I can make my frames go certain colors based on what debuff they have like poison but only on the class that can dispell which is very helpful. I can make earth shield stacks for resto, you name it. On cell you have layouts and in Grid2 they are called themes which do the same when you enter raids or group content. I like that if you set your buff and devuff indicator size as a % of your frame they shrink to the right size in a raid which I only learned this last few months. Its good for every healer to have a top notch addon that they like and I wuld not want to change peoples minds. I just like Grid2. :D

It has always bothered me that the number of frames don't get updated in combat (for like world bosses and such), and that every class needs their own party and raid profiles set up so that the addon remembers your keybinds, so perhaps it's time for a change.

@@Kryptic712 It may be old but, in what it is for me, as long as I need only a few minutes to configure it when prepatch comes, and then forget for the rest of the expansion, I'm good.

Thought about trying cell, but it's too complicated. I want my set up to look exactly like Jak's, but you'd have to not only setup cell, but change everything in edit mode as well and I have no idea how I'd go about doing that. It's too much work for too little reward. You can't even set up horizontal party frames with the basic UI, so I'm stuck healing with vertical party frames because I have no choice. I downloaded cell, and deleted it within 5 minutes because I started having anxiety thinking I'd accidentally mess something up on my current UI and wouldn't be able to fix it. I was really wanting this to work.

ElvUI is absolutely hideous and actually really annoying if playing a Druid since the action bars Elv uses are outdated as of DF. Also Elv's eye vomit. BlizzMove and default UI is damn near "perfection."

Cell is great. Have run into a few small speedbumps like smartcasting buffs (or the lack of them) and showing multiple auras on yourself.. but nothing that cant be fixed via pairing the frames with weakauras.

The one thing I've always looked for in regards to sorting is the one VuhDo does that sorts by Tank > Melee > Ranged > Healers. I really like to know when a player is melee or ranged because some spells are better at handling certain scenarios better. And it also helps me find people on my raid frames for certain mechanics faster since some only target 1 or the other. I haven't found any other healing addon that does this yet.

But laggs on Tyndral was last and guildy aug said me about "new easy frames" - cell and i was astonished by difference in setting vs vuhdoo. Now im still in a way to finale set it up before patch but for new player totally recommended Cell up on vuhdoo.

I had the exact same experience vuhdo vs. Grid 2. I am good with vuhdo and I have also used in since WoD, but Cell... maan it just looks so much less hassle. So I think I might need to do a bit of a rework, looking at you and Growl playing with it and it looks much smoother in many ways.

Swapped from Vuhdo to Cell and I can not be happier. Seems like it improved fps a bit aswell. The only thing I kinda miss is I had a buqoet in vuhdo that would change the players raid frame from class colour to a specific colour (green for example) whenever the player had Atonement on himself. Bunch of discs use that so its easier to track atonements. Havent found that option or feature in Cell sadly, so i am getting used to tracking Atonements just via the icons on frames. Any idea if its possible to set up?

I used Grid until Grid2 surpassed it. Low latency is the major bonus. Being a multiclass healer, and forced by my guild to use Grid back in the day for raiding ( it allowed us to see what other healers were casting when no other raid frames did that at the time) I suppose I learned the ins and outs of grid faster. Grid2 is still my go-to but Cell looks interesting. I was always amazed how popular Vuhdo eventually became. Change is a good thing.

Never rly got the hate on vuhdos interface, yah its old and arguably ugly, but its definitely functional so who cares. It's like people who prefer the windows 10/11 file searching where it tries to look up stuff on edge, where before in win7 it'd just search your files like you actually wanted.

  • @johanjarvinen

Grid is absolutely ancient, the original Grid has been around since vanilla I think and it honestly mostly looks and works the same still. It's archaic but it's quite powerful and I've been using it for forever so there's not much reason to swap, although Cell does have my curiosity peaked.

  • @CybreSmee

I need to be able to sort the party by role. Tank always on top, me (healer) always on bottom. And vuhdo is just too annoyingly complicated to learn.
I use ElvUI and i basically only use it for the raid frames. I love them. I like to have specific buffs and whatnot in specific places. I like being able to just see, out of the corner of my eye, if a buff is up because its in a specific spot on the frame

  • @kal_eide
    @kal_eide 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Cell is much better than most and decently user friendly, but the addon memory usage is probably the highest I've even seen. Grid2 has extreme customizing and *far* less memory usage. Depending on your setup, this may matter. I've also been using since it was created, so I'm far more used to that addon.

  • @dread46

Been a Vuhdo user since i started healing during Legion. But boy oh boy is the interface for it clumsy and buggy and unintuitive and, at least for me, required a lot of trial and error to get stuff working. Just so that it sometimes can bug out so that i have to reload mid fight to even be able to use it. Worst offender in my opinion is the heavy toll it takes on my fps, have like twice as much fps when i go ele and don't load it.
So yeah, this video comes at the perfect time, cause i since long wanted to get another healing addon, but didnt know which.
Cell looks pretty promising to be my new healing addon though, thanks for showing it off :)

So is cell more lightweight than ELvUI and VuhDo frames?
As long as its features are concerned, it has everything the other two have and its much easier to set up.
Although I dont need to set up the other two anymore, since I have explored and tweaked all of their features and have settled down to specific profiles.
So for me it comes down to whether cell has less of a spaggetti code than the other two.
