I know the writers purposely showed signs of Alex being suicidal throughout the show but I really wanna know if their goal was to show that most of the time people don't see the warning signs. I know a lot of people think that's what they were trying to do but whether they were trying or not they did a great job with the plot. The fact Alex showed so many signs but there was always more "important" stuff going on so you just kinda brushed it off & forgot it about it really explains what actually happens.

Heard there is season 2 coming and I really hope he'll make it out alive. Would be interesting to get inside his head for a change and view everything from his perspective, as well as the other kids. Alex seemed most troubled and complex beside Clay. The last episode was the most painful to watch. God ,what a masterpiece of a tv serie it was

It’s so genius how they did that. The whole time I was watching I was thinking “How the hell didn’t you notice that Hannah wanted to kill herself? How stupid and oblivious are you?” But I never thought Alex was going to. Which is so clever because it’s like an interactive way of showing how people need to pay attention. It’s so easy to miss obvious signs. People should have seen what Hannah was going to do, and stopped her. And they should have done the same for Alex. But it’s not always that easy.
Why did people not notice that he was suicidal immediately? I knew from the moment he started tearing signs down. And I honestly think he was passively suicidal before Hannah’s death because of the whole ‘FML’ deal.
There were so many signs that alex was suicidal but everyone was busy trying to solve Hannah's case that they didn't pay attention to alex, even though there were so many points where it was obvious. :( For example: "Suicide is not an option? You know what clearly it is an option." "Oh so if I kill myself do you die too?" When he was going way over the speed limit in the car. And then when he fell in the pool purposely. Idk why I'm writing this as an assignment but oh well, I just feel so bad for my poor baby.

As the show goes on, he grows to be more distant and broken, but no one pays any attention to it. Then, the same thing happens to him as what happened to Hannah. It's such a beautiful and realistic depiction of our society.
I love him so much. It's relatable. His character is just relatable. You're taken as the happy one who pushes everyone else up. What they don't notice is that you are being pushed down farther and farther every time they're being pushed up by you. Stuck in this hell trying to pull your self up. But they still treat you as the happy one. Even though you may be showing signs and calling out from depression.

Cheyenne Scouten it actually says it in the show the principle comes in when clay and the guidance counselor are talking and says Alex standall shoot himself in the head. And Alex's dad is a police officer so he probably has a self defense gun or a back up gun in the house
pretty sure its Montgomery in the ambulance and I think Tyler shot him especially because they showed the flashback of Montgomery bullying Tyler and Alex helping him so he replaced Alex with Montgomery on his "Kill list" which i presume is what all the photos in his dark room are.
I think the real point of this series is that it can happen around you and we still miss the clues. We were only focused on the story of Hannah that we missed the clues Alex was giving

I noticed the brown hair too but they probably just had a stand-in for that scene and didn't realize the hair came out in the shot.

Since he shot himself in the head, the blood could've mixed with the bleached hair and resulted in a brownish color.
