- In this video, I briefly drive around and explore the various Drag Races in NFSU1. This has been possible for quite some time, it is just the fact that myself and other people on youtube haven't really bothered making a video regarding it.

I've always found interesting how the drag races' maps are completely different and incompatible with the city of the normal circuits.
It feels oddly bigger than the city is in the sprint and circuit races

I love the effort they put in BEHIND the drag strip tracks
You know, I'm still kinda sad Olympic City isn't open-world. But it seems like Blackbox incorporated Olympic City's features to Bayview's, which is great.
Bayview is so boring though, Olympic had so much more fun to it.
as little kid always tried to explorer these kind of roads.. it just reset its self continue.. Kind of a strange dream that came out now watching this video.. thx
With that much extra road on Industrial, did they originally want it to be part of the main city or something? That's a lot of effort for something that won't ever be seen by 99.9% of the people who play the game.
I'm assuming the industrial part turned into Coal Harbor from Bayview. I mean, the similarities in atmosphere and scenery are insane.
it went into coal harbor in underground 2, after they designed the layout for the races they were left with that space unused so they carried it over to nfsu2
Most, if not all of the textures from Olympic city were reused in Bayview

what I really like about Olympic City is the variety of environments
It's actually amazing how they got away with using very few textures and reusing the same buildings and still managed to make each area look unique
I think it would be a cool if the new need for speed took place in Olympic City the same city from underground. I know it's probably not going to happen but think thank I wouldn't be that bad of an idea. We could have the same tunnels and locations and EA could easily expand on it as well

I love the attention to detail of the developers. Most wouldn't even notice the small details, like that spinning statue, but it make a big difference.
Why has Olympic City been so interesting location... maybe, one day EA will release a remake of this City with an open world-opportunity, putting at least some of old songs and old cars there... that would be legendary
7:00 onwards looks alot like coal harbour west (from nfsu2)
Duca C-04 It’s the opposite side of port royal, the only area of olympic city proper that we don’t ever see in the game except in that drag
3:40 that stadium to the left is reminiscent of BC place, a stadium in vancouver bc canada, considering blackbox games was located in burnaby, a suburb/neighbouring city, this would make alot of sense as vancouver was esdentislly the epicentre of the lower mainland.
All the building textures are actually photos from Vancouver. They used to be for sale in one of the texture packs from a vancouver based company called Marlin Studios.

I wanted to see the remake of the Olympic City map where it is explorable in free roam, and every map in every race mode is interconnected to each other.

Thanks for the mod man. I wished from a long time to see the city and drag tracks connected and you made that happen.

It's on "Appeal to Reason", their 2008 album. They just released it as a single in 2009.

3:40 I don't know why, but I think the Truck Trailer on the left side a Cadillac Escalade 2004 from the Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition. Seriously, maybe this is a coincidence because this game was released earlier than Midnight Club 3, but in the splash screen of that game there was the same Cadillac Escalad, the same red color and even the truck has the DUB inscriptions. This is very looks like a Easter egg, although maybe these are just my guesses)

How do you install it? Do you just put the files into the installation folder of the game? Also, how can you disable it?
You simply put the files into the installation folder. Also what I would do if you want to revert to the old files, make backups.
Thanks! Although it doesn't seem to be working well with the MRDJ repack. The barriers are still there, just not rendered, the traffic also disappears (but you can still hear it) and it crashes. Now to reinstall the game!

Is it possible to integrate the Drag Streets into the City? So that you can free roam the whole city? I know the Drag Streets sadly don't fit into the City map: i.imgur.com/xGU6elc.jpg But still would be very cool if you could connect them with the Circuits etc.
Unfortunately at the moment, it would not be possible to do so. The main focus right now is to make the city free roamable. We have been trying our best to make things work, but for now the time scheme is unknown. All I can say though we are working on getting the free roam mod finished.
That is one thing I cannot promise or really say much more of at the current moment. We do not have the knowledge nor the tools to do so. However, that is a great idea. That is definitely something that could be looked into in the future. I am not making any promises though.
I hope this is possible in near future

Very similar to the other guys comment. It might be possible but not at the moment. That is just simply out of our knowledge base right now.
