Hi, does anyone know the detected beat-note has a center frequency of about 9.55 MHz? the AOM is being set at 266MHz which is exactly the frequency difference between fields P and L. I do not understand. Thanks.

Here is a reply from the speaker: The heterodyne measurement is not made between the P and L fields, which indeed are around 266 MHz apart (the reason "around" is that we scan frequencies in different measurements). Instead, the beat note is from the L field and a reference field coming from the same laser as the P field, but being frequency shifted. The end result is that their frequency difference is around 9.55 MHz. This centre frequency does not carry much meaning itself. The more important thing is that if we detune any frequency of input fields, this centre frequency of beat note changes accordingly.
