Ye-sol's biological parents were selfish, bullies and immature, but she grew up so clever and intelligent and empathetic, like do-yeong. This shows that your blood doesn't decide your personality but your upbringing does.
That just happens in kdramas. In real life genes do affect your personality and who you are to a 50% or more. Percentages are not clear, they vary. But what you are saying is not completely true.
I would like to add his manners as well. 1. He leaves his shoes at the door step in dong euns place (key point) 2. The way he tells his lawyers to be careful while driving since its snowing 3. The way he holds his anger even when he finds out the darkest worst secrets of his wife 4. He never raises his voice against his daughter and the scene where he asks to speak slowly without crying about jaejun hitting ye sol's teacher touched my heart 5. The way he talks to his employees shows his nature He is not a completely good man but he sticks to his principles
Yes! There’s also that scene where he gave expensive wine as a gift for his driver. That was when I started to believe he was actually a good person and not sketchy like I expected lol
@@posionwisp I think he was entirely consistent, he was looking out for his daughter’s future. People like Jae Jun will do anything to get what they want, without any consideration for the impacts upon others.

That lawyer knows how much of a bad ass Do-yeong is 😂. He's like "please, don't kill him right here in front of me, I don't want to be disbarred for not reporting it."
He literally was like, 'I'll let you, and watch, and even get you off the hook with a minimum fine, but honestly sir, dealing with this trash, I dont have the strength to lower my IQ trying. Please stop.' 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My step dad raised me like his own. For me he was my real father. He did what my sperm donor never wanted to. I feel very privileged to have my amazing father in my life who loved me, protected me, and took care of me just like Ye-sol.
Poor Do-yeong. He loved his wife only to find she cheated him for a long time. He loved his daughter Ye-sol, only to learn he was not the biological father. But he stick to his principles. He contain his anger after learning his wife's darkest secrets, beat the crap out of the man who is not just his wife's lover but also the actual father of Ye-sol and finally, after learning that his wife turns out to be a bully and a murderer, he divorced her and gain custody of his daughter. That's a real Chad Dad right there.
What I admire is that he not only stuck to his principles, but that these principles included seeing no difference in his daughter just due to DNA. And considering whose DNA was flowing through her veins, and also that he was protrayed with human doubts and hesitations, I applaud the character all the more for his awesomeness and the show for it's depth.
I don't think he ever loved Yeon Jin or expected her to love him tbh. That wasn't how their marriage worked. If you see him with Dong Eun and know how marriages at the highest level of Korean society works this seems obvious. Marriage is a duty and a contract you honour, and that was the understanding their marriage was based on. But he genuinely seemed to respect her. Even when he had feelings for Dong Eun he never stepped a toe out of line or thought about leaving his marriage or infidelity. But what Yeon Jin did was still a betrayal because their marriage not being out of love but of mutual understanding was agreed upon ny them both from the start and he never betrayed her. The worst thing was that the man she cheated on him with was also quite rich and from her social class anyway, so it wasn't as if she couldn't have married him or had a good life with him. But I suppose for Ye Sol's sake it's a good thing, Do Yeong was a great father. If she was raised by her biological parents they would have enabled any bad behaviour she might have had and never tried to actually love her or teach her well.
I do love that its clear he comes from an upper class but he's still as kind as he can be despite privilege. Its a wonderful balance to the show in contrast with the other rich characters that are spoiled. He doesn't have the same struggles as other people but still has great morals. Just makes you against the antagonists more because it isn't money that makes you hate them, but their personality and choices as characters
He’s a real one in this show. When he found out that Ye-sol was not his biological daughter. He still continued to raise her. He divorced his wife after finding out her dark secret, beat the shit out of her lover, and gained custody of his daughter. Do-yeong is the ultimate step dad
She's adorable and already shows signs that she'll be a better person than her bio parents. I think we can thank Do-Yeong for a lot of this as well. He's such a loving dad to her. He's her true parent.
That, and also Dong-eun, who was tortured by Yeon-jin and Jae-jun and their friends, was Ye-sol’s teacher, and she taught the students not to bully anyone.
Best dad ever, well-mannered, cool, badass, strong. He is a Dad with maiusc "D". He didn't let grief, sense of betrayal and anger take him over and choose to be happy with his daughter. I loved how he treated Jae Jun like the trash he was and went away with elegance.
It’s interesting you said that. The line “blood thicker than water” came up a few times in the show displays the irony of cruelty of blood family and love/kindness between non-blood.
@mabelyiu3044 the full saying is the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. Which means that chosen bonds are stronger than ones we are born into. But I still agree with your overall message
what's not to accept. she is just a little girl. she grew up with him around as the father. this whole thing about men only loving kids who are their biological children is bs.
Okay, but that feels like bare minimum. I’m not trying to diminish him being a good father, I’m just saying it’s sad that not rejecting the child you raised because their not related by blood is considered admirable in society when it should be a given.
When this drama aired, that fight scene was so satisfying. I still hope they give this actor a lead role. His facial expressions speak 1000 words before he even says one word.
I don't think someone who is in the right mind to cheat on a husband like that! The way he still treat his daughter like a princess melts everyone's heart!
He is the best father . Even after realizing that Ye-sol was not his real daughter. There was not even a slightly change of his emotions for her. He purely loves Ye-sol ❤
Amazing how such a wholesome relationship could be part of The Glory. And it's no small part, because it's the pivot of Dong-eun's vengeance over Yeon-jin, taking away her glory as a mother, taking away her glory from her fake-perfect family, taking the child away from her venom. And if Do-yeong hadn't been such a great dad, he may have given up when he found out about the biology of it, or he may have lost to the legal threats, or may have been bullied by Jae-joon.
The Fact that his love for her didn't change in the slightest even after discovering she wasn't biologically his is the purest form of love, he was amazing.
His story line was perfect and the real happy ending in the story. He chose his daugther (as it should be) and got to keep her thanks to the chaos the protagonist caused
Do Yeong was always a perfect husband, father and a good man. He wanted to know the truth and was shattered to know how much Moon dong eun was bullied and abused by his wife and her friends. Poor he and Ye-sol were cheated by that horrible women. Ye-sol biological Parents were disguisting people. So happy that De Yong always cared for the child knowing though she wasnt his. But very happy for them, finally they got out of the mess and left the country for a better future.
I mean he may not be innocent but he really is a good dad and we all know that he will do anything for her and he really loves his daughter more than world
I love that his main priority is his little princess and making sure she feels loved, cared for and secure. She's gonna need that as she grows up with the knowledge that her mother is a terrible person, especially once she figures out that said mother is in jail. That's gonna be terribly difficult to navigate, but with her wonderful father by her side, it'll be okay. Maybe she'll have a wonderful step-mom in the future too, who knows! Anyways, good job Doyeong for being a good father to this sweet girl.
JJ may have been her real father but Do Yeong was her Dad and was always going to be her Dad. The guy was forced to choose between two women and instead he chose his daughter instead of getting caught up in all of the bullshit. That’s why he is her Dad, not JJ.
@frenchfries i don't think he ever had to choose dong-eun, maybe in the beginning, but after dong eun already had a partner, she mainly didn't want him to be caught in the drama, and Do Yeong always placed ye sol first went it came down to it, that's why he didn't divorce Yeon Jin right away, and still gave her the chance to repent, cause regardless of his opinion about Yeon Jin or Dong-eun, his choices always had Ye Sol as a priority, JJ was never her father regardless of blood, cause his thought process was force himself into her life, he saw her as like a pet

Series: The glory Part 2 P.S hope to see more of your work!
Isn’t it ironic? I’ve seen a lot of people, especially children of parents who have higher positions, who have a bond with their mothers more than the father. I noticed that Yeon-Jin seemed to just not be in the office a lot (idk how demanding a weather woman’s work is) but never went to Ye-sol’s school or at her soccer practice. She just appeared when she had to confront Dong-eun or to make connections with the other kids moms. But Do-Yeong, despite being the CEO of a massive company, always made sure to prioritise his child. And that very difference was the final thread that unravelled Yeon-Jin’s ‘perfect’ life. This is why Do-Yeong is my second fave character in this series.
"Wow, this 8 year old girl feels guilty for crimes her mother committed! What a good kid!" What a stupid fucking comment. Children feeling any guilt/responsibility for the messes their parents get them into is not praiseworthy or a sign of good parenting. Like Do-Yeong said, none of it was Ye-Sol's fault, so she did not need to apologize for anything. Telling her that, THAT was good parenting.

A guy like Doyeong….so kind and had so much class. Regardless of whether or not he came from a rich family his attitude is what separates him from someone like Yeonjin. The one thing money can’t buy is class.
I pity with all my heart when little Ye-sol's Dad discovered that he was in the epicenter of a cold and inexorable vengeance. This worthy man suffered a lot morally and he remains a magnificent, responsible and worthy father.
This is a real man. Real manly men don’t leave raising a child to their wives because it’s a woman’s job. Real men actively raise their children and shower them with love.
After watching the shorts, this is the exact compilation I wanted to see. I will eventually watch the show, but not in the mood for that kind of darkness rn.
You don't get to see fathers like him i do agree on that, this was exceptional 👍he truly proved being a father has zero thing to do with blood and money✌️though I generally despise certain signs including this one,but the portrayal and character was on point✌️
Ye sol is a victim. She was dragged into the drama due to her parent's reckless acts. Its a good thing that such a gentleman like Do Yeong who chose to protect her from the beasts that are her parents.
I loved the fact that he still loved Ye sol as I think relations build on feelings not blood. Jae Jun might have been Ye sol's father but the duty of father was performed by Ha do yeong. But a little bit disappointed because there was so much focus on Ye sol not bein Ha do yeong's daughter especially Yeon Jin fearing this coming out in front of her mother in law so i thought there might be some big reaction after this comes out but seriously nothing.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing a tv dad being an epic caring father to their child ( even if not biological ). Makes me teary eyed just seeing how happy they both are now away from that bitch of a mother
If you don't have a good father like him, go find a good husband, then your kids will have a good father and a good husband for you ,like me just wait for the right person , don't go pick some random, just wait with patience , until you find one . Never be blinded by looks, heart is that matters .
He made the only right choice chose the only right side his daughter side. It's good that we saw rich, good looking white (well) straight man that also just a good person. Cause there is a tendency to show them only like a villain or so. Any person can be a villain like we saw two kinda equal man both Yesols fathers but the only one that can be a good parent and a responsible person that him.
2:45 Those parents should be ashamed of themselves. Gossiping about some child. And for what? For something she had nothing to do with? It’s bad enough that all the kids at school have shunned her. If anything, they should feel sorry for her. She deserves an apology from her mother and biological father. Fortunately, Do-yeong still loves her as his daughter.
I couldn’t understand why that bad man want to claim his daughter. It’s not like he is a father figure to anyone. The only reason why he wants to claim the girl is to throw salt in the wounds. And probably have control of the girl’s Mother. That is the only reason why he even wants his daughter.
thank god ye-sol had a father like do-yeong even though he isn't her bio dad..i can't imagine what kind of a person shw would have grown up to be if jae joon and yeon jin married!!

A guy like Doyeong….so kind and had so much class. Regardless of whether or not he came from a rich family his attitude is what separates him from someone like Yeonjin. The one thing money can’t buy is class.
he's the perfection itself ❤
I pity with all my heart when little Ye-sol's Dad discovered that he was in the epicenter of a cold and inexorable vengeance.
This worthy man suffered a lot morally and he remains a magnificent, responsible and worthy father.
He rocks she is lucky to have him has her fatherhe'll protect her with all his live
I want a Do-Yeong in my life
Not just to be my husband, but to be a wonderful father to our child(ren) 🥺🩵💙
3:08 Ye-Sol broke my heart !!! 💔😭
He is the man who's almost perfect ❤ In the end, blood doesn't mean everything. A stranger can be better to you than your biological parent.
My favorite character. The intense gazes he gives Dong Eun and their hot chemistry. And him being a great dad. He's perfection.
I really like the way he loved his daughter after knowing the truth and i really appreciate as he dint choose wrong ppl.
Some people put too much power in🩸, and not enough of it in love ❤. Kids first know love, until you teach them otherwise.
Not the stepdad but the dad that STEPPED UP
You don't get to see fathers like him i do agree on that, this was exceptional 👍he truly proved being a father has zero thing to do with blood and money✌️though I generally despise certain signs including this one,but the portrayal and character was on point✌️
Ye sol is a victim. She was dragged into the drama due to her parent's reckless acts. Its a good thing that such a gentleman like Do Yeong who chose to protect her from the beasts that are her parents.
Ye-sol is an angel 👼, even though she’s the offspring of two savages
He will always be Ye Seol’s dad ❤
I loved the fact that he still loved Ye sol as I think relations build on feelings not blood. Jae Jun might have been Ye sol's father but the duty of father was performed by Ha do yeong. But a little bit disappointed because there was so much focus on Ye sol not bein Ha do yeong's daughter especially Yeon Jin fearing this coming out in front of her mother in law so i thought there might be some big reaction after this comes out but seriously nothing.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing a tv dad being an epic caring father to their child ( even if not biological ). Makes me teary eyed just seeing how happy they both are now away from that bitch of a mother
he is a very fine actor.....
He's the dad bod after all 😳🔥
If you don't have a good father like him, go find a good husband, then your kids will have a good father and a good husband for you ,like me
just wait for the right person , don't go pick some random, just wait with patience , until you find one .
White? He is Korean
I really wish I had a dad like him... 🥲
4:02 the fact he took her favourite stuffed animal!
She actually looks like his daughter tho lol
That's what everyone said.
They did a paternity test in the show that confirmed she's Jae-Jun's bio child.
@@Choshako looks nothing like him lol
Best dad ever💜
Eri you are so relatable😂 Even I don't know what to do with my K-drama addiction 😅❤
Thank you 😂❤️
Okay can we talk about the music?! Omg the transition from 🌸 ☠️😭
How come this respectful and good person married her 😂 he's a business man he didn't research about her
2:45 Those parents should be ashamed of themselves. Gossiping about some child. And for what? For something she had nothing to do with? It’s bad enough that all the kids at school have shunned her. If anything, they should feel sorry for her. She deserves an apology from her mother and biological father. Fortunately, Do-yeong still loves her as his daughter.
Awwww when he holds her and she cries I'm 🥺
I should thank god that we didn’t meet at first- I got to become a fan of your work first.
Ye Sol crying though, it really breaks your ❤. At least she really has someone choosing her.
I couldn’t understand why that bad man want to claim his daughter. It’s not like he is a father figure to anyone. The only reason why he wants to claim the girl is to throw salt in the wounds. And probably have control of the girl’s Mother. That is the only reason why he even wants his daughter.
it's a manifestion of his inferiority complex towards Ha Doyeong. He wanted to take something from him more than he wanted to raise his daughter.
@@tiutiu7262 yeah, in one of JJ's last scene, he couldn't even tell he is not speaking to his daughter's back. Stellar father material there.
thank god ye-sol had a father like do-yeong even though he isn't her bio dad..i can't imagine what kind of a person shw would have grown up to be if jae joon and yeon jin married!!
I need that kind of man to live my whole life!
This made me cry 😢😢😢
He faught like a father who knew what terrible life his daughter was in store for if her bio donor would have gotten custody of her.❤
Now thats a great dad
He was the best Dad ever! I had hopes for him and the main character!
He is my idol I mean when jae jun punched him he was unaware bu after that not even his finger was able to touch it..
