If you do decide to rebuild the 4L60, opt for the upgrade to a Sonnax 2.84 Ratio Input Carrier (six-pinion planet) is the impetus for changing the gear ratios. It effectively reduces the gap between First and Second gear, and the subsequent drop in rpm after the gear change. This converts the 4L60E to a close-ratio four-speed.
My 03 Escalade has a 6 month old 4l65e trans... drove it an hour and a half, shut off for a few mins, when started back up it wouldnt shift out of second
4l60e are bad about beating the second gear check ball through the valvebody plate which will cause crapping shifting second.The first shift solenoid u removed that valve free floats no spring.
If you don’t get any help from the big name manual guys hit LOJ up for an adapter to run the Nissan VQ40DE (2005-2015 Xterra / Frontier) 6 speed. Great alternative to the T56.
Nice job with the editing and video. I’ve been told when tapping you should twist back and forth as you go to help clear metal debris. I think this might help prevent breaking every tap in town?
Just bought a 5 speed tkx for my 1990 obs short bed. Annnndddd no one wants to help me install it. No shop in Louisville KY will help. Sure wish I was one of these boomers with my own shop and loads of money/a lift, but I'm just a normal person. I swear there is no such thing as the "classic car community", it's just rich boomers showing their boomermobiles off to each other at car shows. Really makes me want to check out. Gotta love that these "pro, full service" shops with their website banner photo of their family in front of a classic car is just for optics and not business policy.
Hello im not sure if you rember but we bought the c10 1968 from you once in Jacksonville i did an ls swap on a silverado 1992 and im using a 4l80e transmision and the transmision doesnt change gears if possible do you know what the transmission problem is not then thats ok thank you

Takes a couple special tools but rebuilding a 4l60 isn't bad. Most likely there is a valve stuck in the valve body.

Tapping full turn clockwise half a turn counter clockwise to break the chip and repeat I do a lot of 2mm and 3mm tapping
If you have any luck like Robbie take those caps off when you go on road trips he’s always seems to loose them on long trips

it doesn't matter what clips you get, they all suck. you have to flex and bend them to your liking.
