I think this show worked fairly well. I'm not sure why the ratings weren't too hot. Well, I think it may have suffered from something I term as The Channel 5 Effect. That is, good shows doomed to fail purely because they were on the young Channel 5. Take the TV version of The Pepsi Chart show, with Doctor Fox. For my money, better that Top Of The Pops at the time. At minimum, equal. Yet ultimately failed because of the channel it was broadcast on. Viewers were really not attracted to Channel 5 in those early years. Some good stuff here and there, actually. A little on the cheap side, but nevertheless good. Yet the station had a halo of awfulness, which was somewhat unjust in truth. Yeah, there was a good deal of terrible filler shows imported over. But it wasn't all like that. I think the station carried a stigma right up until the Richard Desmond takeover. Over the past decade, it's finally become seen as a major player and a decent content provider. But with Terry And Gaby, I feel it may have gained more ground if broadcast on BBC One. Hard to topple the might of This Morning, but there have been very few efforts made to even try. I think Channel 5 axed this way too quickly. I feel that it would have grown, with time. But, time is money and it ultimately wasn't to be.
