Aloha!! The company that makes those should sponsor you! Great Demo's and info! I want one, so much cleaner than blasting. But like most tools has it limits, you are the one tool in the shop that has very little limits! Love how the new shop is coming together!!
Thank you for all the details and taking the time to answer all our questions Brent! On the motor, if it was turning but had no power and didn't seem to come up to speed, Take off the top square box and check the capacitors, the start capacitor is most likely what is bad. Be sure to take a screwdriver and short the terminals to ground before touching them. If they are bulged, leaking or bad, this will keep the starting circuit from working. The capacitors are pretty cheap and an easy fix. Just a thought. Thanks again!
THIS was INCREDIBLE. I've never seen nor heard of this laser tool you are using. I couldn't have even imagined such a tool was even possible. You say it's basically like sandblasting? I would have had to use wire wheels... like 1 or 2 DOZEN of them... for like a year to get that all done. Thanks for sharing that with us. I think I missed your last upload, but now I'll have to go back and watch it to see if I can learn a bit more about this magic wand you found. I know eventually I'll learn what an "iron worker" is for. Sheering and bead rolling... it looks like, anyhow. So... THAT was fun to watch.
Hey Brent! I don't know a damned thing about laser cleaning but if you have an air jet function on your nozzle, wouldn't that help prevent that blowback problem you've noticed? Yeah, they're a "consumable," but stopping to swap out lenses eats up time you'd rather be doing something else. Yes, no? Love your stuff!
Generally you want some sort of exhaust system so it sucks all the particulates and vapors away. For that situation I'd say even a steel shop vac would help (mostly to avoid any spark issues)
@@SilvaDreams That too. The air flow would simply keep the tip clean. Having watched the rest of the vid now, I think that's what he's doing. I suspect he'll have everything cleaned before he concocts a fume hood/dust collector system. When does a redneck think linearly?
@@GeneralSulla If you go back to the old videos he shot in the old shop that burned you can see it being used. It was sorta like a punch, shear, break and press all in one.
Ha love the Lazer !! I'm happy you are taking pride in all of the awesome equipment you have and that you are rebuilding the old equipment. They don't make it like they used to. Plus I know you love that iron man !! Haha
Awesome work on all this restoration, really nice to see all your gear come back to life. Just my two cents, but you might want to consider putting in a hose on the return side in the tank when you get a higher volume pump. All that oil splashing around will airate the oil tank and could shorten the life of the pump. A 90° barb and a old piece of hose clamped on would be all it takes. Might also be a worthy investment to throw a large magnet on the tank floor to pick up any particals small enough to make there way through the pick up screen.
That damm laser is one awsome product, bring alot of life back into HalfAss Customs unique machines for Brett again.alot of people would of just trashed it.. tks again Brett for showing us
Great work on the iron horse. The laser cleaner seems to be doing a great job. Far less messy then media-blasting, that's for sure. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
That laser is a great tool ! Thanks for that 1h30 video, really like that 😉 and appreciate the music especially Martin Landstrom 👍🏽 Nice work on the iron worker, it's going to look like it was new ! Later Brent, greetings to Esther
Wow Brent that laser is just BADAZZ man!! I can't get over how well it works, sure seems like it will be a big time saver for you!! Thanks for showing us how the thing works..
The initial video of your laser I was thinking "Oh great another plug/ad/marketing by some YT 'influencer'" My how wrong I was. Great idea and smart purchase, I am looking forward to more of the salvage and recovery of your tools from the fire. Pet Buddy and Pablo for me, he looks so sad but I know he has an awesome home when his tail moves and you scratch his neck :-)
if you use a shop vacuum to pull the dust and fumes out of that pipe (on the fitting at the bottom) it should help with the blow back. You could probably put the hose tip beside the laser gun and at least reduce the amount of blow back that hits the lens. Love seeing you get everything back up and running. most would just replace where you are repairing what tools you can
I think the laser and a wire brush is way better than heavy sandbags and air hoses and sand gets into everything. Sandblasting is ok for maybe prepping a huge tractor for paint or huge beams etc. Lasers only needs a broom and dustpan for cleanup. I think you made a good investment
Great video Brent.. have seen these laser strippers many time.. but never an honest review and details of operation!! Keep the good stuff coming love your channel and the recent rise from the ashes!!
Hi Brent and Esther. Blokes and new tools are like kids with a toy, you just can’t help but do all sorts of crazy things with it. Man that’s some wild cleaner. I can see why people worry about safety with these, eyes, lungs and your own skin. It’s just cool to watch it do its thing isn’t it. It’s good seeing the machines getting rebuilt. Lovin the content, as usual you certainly keep us interested, thank you.
Some of the best laser rust removal video I've seen! Reedit has a whole sub for it - laser porn - but it's mostly manufacturer demo. Those demos have shown people running it over their hand with no ill effect but I don't think I'd sign up for that test. If I were you, I'd upgrade the ventilation and filtering though, that stuff is quite nasty and may take a while before you feel the accumulated effects. I'd also upgrade the goggles, get a couple pairs. I would be very hesitant to trust what they sent. Get something that fits tight around your eye sockets, even a reflected flash that sneaks in could damage your vision. You wouldn't even feel it nor see it :( I wouldn't let man nor beast into the shop while using that thing either, lock the doors. A stray reflection could ruin someone's day
And here I thought you had had enough fire in your life, but here you are burning that machine again, and with a high tech laser!! This guy likes fire. :)
This laser is excellent. Good work Benton. You can clean rusti chassis or whatever. I like. All good for you.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯
I do love all your tools, handmade and/or old machines. And I'm sure you are happy to find these tools again in working order, after that sad fire of you workshop. This laser seems to be really helpful to clean old and rusty things. And thanks for the good ideas you have given me with these handmade tools. 😉
That laser rust removal seems a lot nicer than sand blasting. Espeically on such a machine like this one. Much less clean up after. I have a small sand blaster that I have used for cleaning rust off wheels and such, prepping to paint. No blast cabinet, so I use cheap blast media and let it fall on the ground. This laser would work well for a lot of metal restoration of things that won't fit in a blast cabinet. I was thinging along the lines of a car frame. Not many people have a blast cabinet big enough for one of those. Motorcycle frames would be easy to do also. That is if the laser cleans of paint as well as rust. May have to do some research on these lasers.
That Laser is an amazing tool in your box now. Helping you save the equipment out of the fire. 🔥 obviously you were not insured on that building. I pray the new one is. You have come a real long way since that tragedy. And things are looking better and better now, also you have literally rebuilt from the ashes. You’re such an unbelievable man. You can work on anything. And rebuild anything. That’s what makes your Channel so great. God bless you and Esther love you to death. ❤️💯👊👍✝️🙏🏻
Hello Brent, I think the cost of the new machine saved you the cost of replacing the iron worker, and any other tooling you will refurb soon. We are sure you will give us more videos of the machine soon. I and your viewers know we are going to see more videos of what this machine can do, thanks.
Awesome review on the laser cleaning machine. I think if you wear it out this yr cause I reckon you aren't going to leave it alone they should should give you the next version when it comes out . Thumb 👍 great purchase for the new workshop.
That machine is wild. I want one! How would it do on pitted sheet metal? E.g. to clean up so you can see what needs to be replaced versus poking with a screwdriver, hitting with a hammer, etc, to see what's solid vs compromised? Also, I think you should get better eye protection. What if the beam reflects off something shiny? Seeing you use it with those tinted safety glasses make me nervous.
That is what the glasses are for and why they wrap around to the sides. The hard part is finding the right wavelength the machine uses since it looks like a Chinese machine so documentation is a bit iffy at best so he'd have to buy multiple ones and see which one makes the beam not visible since it blocks it.
For the air purge you're using to keep the shielding optics clean, make sure it's dry, filtered air. Moisture and oil removal is essential and filter down to at least 5 micron. 1 or 2 micron would be even better. If you have oil or moisture in your air it could contaminate the focal lenses and those can get expensive. The best purge gas is actually pure nitrogen but clean, filtered, dry air will do.
Thanks for going through different metals. I see that you need practice time to understand the what, when and where with your new toy. Seems like you’ve been in the new shop a long time. I liked when you said it will help you doa better job, I don't see how that's possible. Be well. Hi Ester.
Since the altro on the first time you showed this machine, I have been excited to see it in action. I have watched other videos and seen what it can do as a welder. I do think you will get a whole new level of excitement from the fact that it fuses metals and so less warpage. One thing tho is the metal on a vehicle body might just be too thick for a pretty weld like shown it those videos. Taking into consideration, said it would weld a quarter inch thick piece of metal. So as in cleaning, different levels of materials being removed is not a consistent thing and so welding would come out the same as well. I seen it weld/fuse metal that was as thick as paper and I got to say, IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! I just hope that after a bit of time of using this, it will be like your other tools that you've mastered

depending on the power setting, it would be like a wood-burning set. It would basically do a light burn over top.
That thing sounds wicked...like one of those old Jacob's ladder rigs they have in the old Frankenstein movies
It works well too...lol🐾🍺
Awesome
You can understand the purpose of the air / gas feed -- it provides shielding gas just like a MIG or TIG. So you can use it to help keep flying debris out of the gun / head. The advantage of the cutting is that the cut line is very thin, so it can help with super fine detail which a plasma cannot do. This especially comes into play on the machines which have XY controllers and cut out a pattern like you do on your plasma table. Also, laser cutting leaves less dross on the bottom of the part. For a production factory, this adds up. Probably would not matter much for you.
Happy Friday! Thanks for the video!🐾🍺
