    I had no idea that Thread Conditioner was a thing so Thank You! It was definitely helpful.

    Thanks so much Claire for this video. Greetings from Gold Coast Qld. If people are watching this in 2021, like I am, they may find it difficult to get Thread Heaven. New product is Thread Magic (same, maybe better) widely available in Aus and USA etc.

    Thank you! I did *indeed* find that useful.
    I'm using just tiny bits for snowflakes that I want to pop and look frosty. It does handle that aspect but my work has looked a bit lumpy on both the front and the back. I will use your techniques and I think I can get the result I really envisioned when I bought the satin floss.
    Thanks again and your work is beautiful!

    I love the color of the satin thread but had a real problem using it. I'll try the thread conditioner. Thanks!

    Thanks I was struggling on a satin project, using a bit of vasaline on two threads to stop it from slipping but doing it one stich at a time with the one strand folded over is genius.

    Thank you! I used this thread way back when it was still called Rayon. I did have trouble but used the loop method. I will give it another go using your suggestion of tying in the ends at the beginning and using Thread Heaven. Thanks again!

    Thank you for this video, I have used so many types of threads but have always shyed away from the DMC satins, even though I love my silk stash I think I will try these as a substitute for some metallics.

    Love the idea of using this in the place of metallic. I don't love the way metallic feels going through the fabric. I'm about to kit up the Save the Stitches and I'm going to look at using this as well!

    • @PyrexStitches
      @PyrexStitches  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I love the Satins as a metallic substitute! I'm really happy with how they are working on my Save The Stitches as well, plus the colours are so bright and vivid, they really stand out on that piece. Thanks for watching :)

  • @Disney_Jen

    Love the idea of using satins instead of metallics. I despise metallics with a passion! I never thought of replacing them with that. Have you ever used kreinic? The heaven and earth design call for it, but I read on a cross stitch board that you can use the dmc E5200 instead and that seems to be a bigger pain too compared to metallics. I might consider using satins on my next heaven and earth because the sparkle really does add dimension to the pattern. Thanks for sharing!

    • @PyrexStitches
      @PyrexStitches  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I hate metallics although I have just ordered my first kreinik to use on a peacock pattern from Just Cross Stitch magazine. Scared? Yes. I'm hesitant but I'll give it a go. Thank you for watching :)

    Thanks for taking the time to do this and share your tips and tricks. I have often looked at the satin flosses and wondered what they would be like to stitch with. Perhaps now I will be a little braver in using them. Can I ask what size nèedle you used? I like that you think outside the square so to speak with the use of satin floss. The price of speciality threads can be prohibitive and it is good to have an alternative that is more cost effective but still add interest and flair to a project. I love your piece . Have you decided yet how you will display it? I really like your Save the Stitches piece too. I also started that but haven't been happy with what I have done so have sat it aside for thè moment. Would love to see more of yours. Is ithe stitching done in navy? Take care now
    Sharon (down in chilly Melbourne)

      @PyrexStitches  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sharon, firstly thank you for your lovely comments!
      I've decided I'm going to make Arabesco into a cushion for our bed for when we have our white bed linen on. I'm thinking of backing it with white satin and hopefully it will be a dramatic feature in our bedroom :)
      With Save The Stitches the main colour is a navy blue - I decided I didn't want to do black and I hate metallics so this was the colour combination I finally settled on. I talk about it a bit in my previous video. I'll make a WIP update video again soon. It's on 25 count Mushroom Lugana evenweave.
      The needle I'm using is a 26 I think?!? I bought a pack cheap from Fox Collections - gold plated and I think they were $7.95 for about 50 from memory? I like to use a new needle regularly, feels nicer than an old one. Don't know why...
      Thanks for watching! From chilly Wagga Wagga :)

    Yout work is amazing!... Hello! I hope you could help me, I've been wondering if theres like a rule or a guide to pick the DMC colors for a project that I don`t have the actual color guide for... like, I'm making a flower that comes in 4 tones of pink, a very dark one, two different medium pinks and a very light one, how can I choose these four colors and be sure that they are going to look coordinated or give the right effect, so they dont look like I just force the colors there...

    DLC Jewel effects threads are rough and horrible to see with. I normally use Krenik blending thread 2 to 1 cotton strand mix but becoming hard to find. Recently, brought Oasis rayon threads it works better in one strand equivalent to 2 strand cotton. Sadly, Thread Heaven is now discontinued replaced with Thread magic. Doing some research damp sponge or Vaseline can be used instead. I admit I brought rayon thread for the shine.

      Hi Joyce - the pattern is called Arabesco by Alessandra Adelaide Needleworks (AAN). If you see my other videos you'll see the finished project as well as details about the threads I used which are different to those recommended in the pattern. Thanks for watching! I'm glad you found it helpful :)
