    In this episode of Dialing In... Pod Go Edition, I take a look at recreating one of my most popular Helix/HX Stomp presets which is a John Mayer'ish style clean tone. This is a very nice sounding clean tone that works well solo or in the mix and works just as nicely on the Pod Go. I really hope you enjoy the video and the preset. If you would like to grab this preset, you can get it from CustomTone here:

    In the mix, I think the piano is a bit to loud. But the patch sound very nice. I think I need to download it for my helix. :-)

    Very nice tone...I would have pushed it a bit farther out in the mix, was just a bit hidden back there. ;) Good stuff, the beard is looking good!

    In previous PODs, there was NO fee......Not paying anything when the POD GO has such a price. At the price point for just the unit.....anything above that for tones some people made up.....NOPE.

    Jason, as always, your videos are excellent. I have been using the Helix for seven years, but if it goes down during a gig, I'm screwed. I thought of the Pod Go as a backup. My only concern is that with your template there is no room for a modulation effect post amp and cab. I assume you cannot move the amp and cab to the left with the amp going to the FS2 icon? Thank you.

    I am going to try this. I have noticed it is really easy to get a distorted guitar tone on the Pod Go, but my clean tone always distort a little. Maybe it's because I am using the wrong ear phones or something. I do notice that my E string booms a little too, so hopefully this will sort it out.

    What kind of speakers do you use with the PodGo? I have studio monitors but I can't tell if they are the problem or if I just need to get better at setting the patches.

    Great video and playthrough! I do wonder though of turning down the bass on the US Norm would harm anything in the tone? I mean, if one would like to free up a block space and such things.

    Nice tone! Was on the fence about the pod go, but now seeing all the support and people out there creating tones for it, I may take the plunge. Have always used a traditional pedalboard, but this looks like a great step without dropping the $$ for a Helix.

    Sounds great, about to order a Pod Go so really helpful to hear what it can do on the clean tones as many of the reviews focus on more high gain stuff which is also useful but great to hear other capabilities! 👏👏👍👍 Nice playing also!👍🎶

    Wow. Another master class. The EQ for one particular note is amazing. Do you have a reference for EQ points and the Q? I know A = 440 and go from there but to find that note with the low eq and tight q is another level. Thanks so much for sharing!

    • @guitarelaxed
      @guitarelaxed 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can easily google a table of note names and their corresponding frequencies. I think I read that a Q of 0.7 has a bandwidth of an octave (a tritone up and a tritone down from the center frequency) So with a Q of 9,7 the bandwidth is narrowed down to a halfstep.

      check out Jason's previous video on how to use EQ properly.

    Dos it make a difference if you use the 2x12 CAB Eq knobs instead the Eq stomp box? I understand you ticked the lowQ and the CAB probably can't do it - or perhaps the MIC distance option can help. But for example, if you wanted to use the CAB for low cut. does it sound different than using the low cut in the Eq? -I'm thinking I would free up the Eq box to get a completeetly different tone... (Without getting into snapshots)

    Hi Jason
    There is a lot of comments on line 6 pod go forum that you must run a 1/4 inch balanced cable from Pod Go to power cabinet or FRFR speaker? A lot of Pod Go owners struggling for decent tone into power cabs?

    I can’t say whether it sounds like Mayer or not because I don’t listen to him but am going to have to change that. As for the preset it sound tremendous.

    Thanks man, dialed this in and for use of my Revstar 502t and epihone dot .. with some Sutle tweaks these settings work very well as a good base.
    Not sure why some people complain so much about this not sounding like John mayor.. cracks me up. There are so many variables on having his tone including how one plays their guitar, and equipment. This was a good staring point settings for me and helped me tremendously get a good tone through my DAW. People experiment with your tone.
    Thanks brotha!

    Great preset, THANKS! It’s great with my ASAT as well. I had to tweak the EQ as it was too trebly for my guitars but one of the few patches I’ve DL’d that needed much tweaking for my guitars.

      I set it on full also. If you need more output from a particular preset, you can go to the final output block and boost it there. Hope that helps :-)

      you can add gain on your imput block if your pickups are low output. ive seen most helix guys set their master volume knob on 60% so your pickups must be really really quiet. what kind of guitar/pickups?

    Great vid great sounds, i don't understand the point of the pod go, they already made the smallest helix format possible

    • @sjsphotog
      @sjsphotog 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pod Go is to have the low price point entry level so beginners and young kids and hobbyists can get into the Helix eco system on a strict budget. so Id say PodGo ($500) , then Helix LT ($1000) for intermediate and semipros or advanced amateurs who want more control and more I/Os, then full Helix ($1500) for touring pros who make $$ playing gigs. They covered all 3 ranges and cant get a LOT more Helix owners now. The Go, LT and the full Helix all have the exprression pedal/wah/volume pedal where as the HX Stomp and HX Effects are limited and dont have the pedal. Also for those using the now obsolete and abandoned by L6 Firehawk FX, those owners can upgrade to the PodGo and get into the Helix ecosystem but at the same price point as the FHFX (about $500). Pure business genius for sure. Line 6 knows what they are doing. this will sell a LOT of 1st time guitar players who want something simple and just plug and play. those beginners arent going to spend hours crafting patches they just want to play something that sounds like their fave artists/bands/songs.
