- My goal is to see as many states in the United States and to do that I travel by van which is my home on wheels. I live in a van full-time. My ultimate goal is to visit as many countries as possible outside of the US and to do that I fly. I go from vanlifer to a nomad. On this channel, you get a mix of everything. You get full-time vanlife, and you get a nomad who travels by air, land and sea. My life is unpredictable and adventurous. I was stuck in Toronto for 16 hours. I went to the airport lounge and asked if I could pay to come in. They charged me $60 for the day. Well worth it. The lounge had recliners and lots of food. I was able to get a few hours sleep. Check out the airport lounges if you get stuck in an airport again.

I admire your bravery. I am an introvert who avoids crowds, but I could never fly or vacation in a city alone. It helps to experience it through you.

Not everyone is smart, educated, and industrious. In America, everyone has opportunities to excel but unfortunately there are lazy individuals. The Military is one of the best employers, if you do your job, stay fit and disciplined enough to follow orders, then your future is secure so long as you serve 20 yrs or more.

Girl .. why didn’t you just pay for another day? It’s a business expense anyway .. sleeping on the floor of the airport when you have a safer/healthier option? Why? So you got to experience houselessness at the airport since I am sure the benches there were hostile? Traveling with no sleep is so dangerous .. for you and others on the road. My dad would call those decisions pennywise pound foolish. Please spend the money to be safe and responsible. Missing sleep like that when you have other options is no good for your body or mind. 10:59 that is so odd that you didn't get a checkout reminder the day before 🤔 I've stayed at some beautiful hotels and some ok/ nice hotels and I swear that always either attach a reminder slip on the door, or slide it under the door (if no one answered the door to receive it).
Criminalizing the homeless is sad and ungodly. Everybody deserves a home and good employment. Thanks for sharing your experience. There are better ways. Anyway love your channel!
I knew the airport hall looked familiar at 15:38 and I googled it. It is where Home Alone 1 was filmed. Nice that they keep it decorated exactly the same all these years.

Instead of spending money on bars to prevent people from sleeping on benches it would be amazing if they actually tried to help people.
Chicago is spending millions to help. Just look it up.
Ok so bars on benches to prevent the homeless from sleeping on them. People are still going to be homeless and still are going to need a place to sleep so maybe there should be more done in this country to prevent people from being homeless to begin with. Then they wouldn’t have to worry about the benches.
They started this in NYC and call it "hostile architecture" so there is no place to sit. How ridiculous is that? So what if someone sleeps on a bench. If they don't want to see it provide housing.
I love it when you treat yourself to a good hotel stay.
To be safe i would have stayed at a cheaper or paid extra night and avoid late fee and stuff. Its very unsafe for a woman especially major cities at night. Im born and raised in NYC. Very unsafe. Glad your ok. I was worried about you not posting for a few days. Enjoy your time 💜 much love 💜
The headache is caffeine withdrawals. When I was pregnant and couldn't have caffeine that's what happened to me. During my second pregnancy the doctor said moderation was fine. ❤❤

Hey Nomi, unfortunately those benches are everywhere in larger cities. Austin Tx has "hostile architecture" also. They don't want the homeless sleeping on the benches.😢

In Texas, they don't even want the birds protected. The Spikes everywhere to prevent them from landing really really piss me off.

She asked if you were extending your stay. You paid a late fee. Why not just stay and pay for the extra night? I'm glad you had a great trip, otherwise.
Many times if our flight leaves late that evening of check out we just leave our baggage with the front desk and just come back first before heading to the airport
I agree if it was me and I had to pay a late fee, I just would of extended my stay for an extra day....
Be careful what you eat. Your going to end up in the hospital. I know from experience.
Agree even though it would of been a higher cost (fee for the hotel) It still cost 💲 you money why not be comfortable and enjoy that last day👍

Most hotels have a locked room where they will store your luggage until you have to go to the airport, so that if you have time to do things before you have to be at the airport, you can safely leave your luggage there and pick it up later. Just a thought if you find yourself in that situation again.

She didn't go no where she basically stayed Michigan avenue and yes I agree with everyone just stay another night it was wild you stayed in the airport so long when you could be much more comfortable didn't make much sense

my husband and i stayed at the pendry right across from your hotel for about a week this past Christmas. its a good spot. close enough to the Christmas market and the bean. short walk to mag mile. you missed out because Lou's is actually the best deep dish pizza. unusually warm Christmas. i think it was like 55.

I have been a subscriber since the beginning of your van life journey and you have always stated that you are on a budget. So I completely understand why you chose the airport versus another hotel. Look at it this way. The time you spent in Chicago it seems like you had a pretty good time. And that Nutella cafe looks like a little slice of heaven. Hey Nomi. Sorry about you having to rush to leave your hotel. I get not wanting to g to pay the higher fee at your hotel, but I would’ve just gone to a safe, inexpensive Motel and stayed for the night. But glad you were safe. Happy New Year to you!

Anytime you travel & book a hotel you do get an email confirming the check-in and check-out time. So Nomi should have rechecked her hotel itinerary & flight time, that travel 101. No way I would stayed overnight in an airport. Very surprised since Nomi is a fellow Army veteran, very diligent about schedules & itineraries, just a military thing. We hate to be blindsided. 😅😂

If you have ANY level of peanut allergy, you should not eat at any bakery that is not peanut free. Accidental exposure could at any time become anaphylactic shock.

Thanks for the Chicago adventure- the sights, food and your narrative were a gift- thanks for sharing. Feel badly that you were caught up in last minute check out- it's understandable that you forgot- with everything else going on (travel, planning, new environment, holidays, filming)- It came to me that a nice customer service that hotels can offer is a courtesy reminder of check out time (phone message, note in room, etc) because I am sure this happens to other tourists during an extended stay. In any case, you made the best of it and made it home safely.

Sleeping at the airport(s) overnight has happened to me on a few occasions and it's mostly uncomfortable, but an adventure nevertheless. Bummer that you missed an extra day exploring in Chi-town. You are so right. I hate rushing because you do tend to leave something. You are a beautiful soul. Please be sure to take care of that beautiful temple. What we eat so impacts our health. Take it from me you want your body to last, If you take care now it will. You won’t end up with all the aches and pains that happen as the years pass. Those benches are homeless deterrents…. In NYC this process is relatively new(hostile architecture) is what they call it. Maybe if they worked on eliminating homelessness they wouldn’t have to build useless benches like those….

I am so sorry that this happened to you, but I would have stayed because they got my $81. The nerves of people. The worst part is they should have given you a wake up call or something to remind you. This be the stuff that makes me upset. But I am still glad you had a good time in my hometown. You can always get Garrett mailed to you if you will be stationed for a few days. . You would have had to pay for another night. That $81 was only the late check out fee. Hotels don’t call to remind you of your checkout unless you request that. And they probably charge something for that now days.

81 dollars is a hefty late fee. How come you didn’t just pay to stay an extra night?
That $81 "late fee" is obscene. That hotel has some nerve charging such a huge fee! 😠
Is it though? It’s during the holiday season when businesses make a bulk of their money. 🤷♀️ It’s on the person staying to plan their travel to include enough time to pack and leave.
Being the holidays it could have affected them cleaning the room in time for the next booking. Usually hotels are understanding of mistakes.
