No matter the medium, the artist is NEVER the best judge of their own work. I am also a painter and if it's a canvas I labored over, and am proud of, it will get a polite nod from someone looking at it. The pieces I slapped on the canvas, at the last minute to use for filler in a show, are what people fight over. I have quit trying to figure it out. It's crazy making. I've heard the same observation from every artist I ever met.
A great vid. I'm liking these guys more. The chatter is so enjoyable. Who hasn't expressed the same feelings. The KaBoom shots get the praise. The younger guy reminds me of the guy that did the McCartney ride along. It's Brit. Maybe 'cause they're our distant cousins.
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who takes an image I am over the moon over, and it falls flat on social. And then a good shot but nothing that lights my fire just gets praise and love. And I’m left thinking, WTH!!
Just found you via Tom Heaton and I have to say you are a crack up mate. Love the attitude and outlook you have. And whilst you maybe a Yorkshire men (I’m from t’her side of Pennines) I get the sense of humour. If you are ever in NZ give me a whistle I’ll buy you a coffee or a burger cos you look like you need one. Keep it up truly inspirational and proper laughs.
I hate the word "synergy" but it fits here perfectly. While I like the videos each of you make, it's the ones where you're together that are the absolute best. A perfect combination of photography, insights and wits. Keep it up!

I'm really enjoying your channel. Your conversation at the end here really hit home with me. Some of my favorite photos to make are big wide aerial panoramas with tons of detail. When I post those on social media they might be liked by some people. But if I crop out a small portion of that pano and make it a portrait aspect ration (that fills the screen of a phone) the photo will get 10x more attention.
Garry Winogrand used to develop his pictures only 1 after they were taken. He said he should not have an emotional attachment to the photo, by associating the feelings he had on that day. After 1 year he would have forgotten completely what he felt at taking the picture. This exactly what Adam said.
Well after a few ppl recommended me to check out Gavin Hardcastle... I was like "Yeah, ill invest some time"... mate well worth it! Bloody funny, informative, well shot, and excellent audio. Truly a great watch and the banter between you and Adam is gold. Cannot wait for your Rockies videos! I feel like you too. My favourites are the more recent decent images which is funny because they can still not be that great overall... but that relief of getting something decent haha. It feels like a lunch break at work :D My wife and I argue all the time about editing but we edit for different mediums just like you guys were talking about. She likes the "in your face images" but I my prefer to subtle edits on photos... mostly to hang on my walls when i stop moving around so bloody much. Being Australian, and you'll laugh at this, I think the coldest I've shot in is -3 degrees.... and that was too much! but im getting better and better and enjoying the cold shooting more and more (especially after Norway and Iceland). Whats more frustrating for you: A) a person that arrives at a scene for the first time and shoots an amazing image on an iphone B) that person that says "why bother shooting with all that camera gear, look what my iphone can do" OR C) That iphone photographer that has no respect for the people shooting around them and will stand infront of you taking selfies or EVEN WORSE iPad photos while an amazing scene is unfolding with the perfect light? Tricky hey?! haha

I know it's an old upload but I must say it - at 11:47 that pink boat distracts me a lot. I'd photoshop it out or, if not, at least lowered saturation for that part of the (otherwise superb!) image. Then again, maybe the boat means something special for you. Pink pink pink :)))
New subscriber to both this channel and Adam's, and I really enjoy both! I got here from Nick Page's channel, so now I've got two more channels that may distract me from getting out in the field myself.....but if I'm going to fail at least I'll be well entertained!
I'm always looking for a work-around when I have wind................... Oh, not the point....... I really don't know why I am so infantile that certain things hit me like that. I believe that the images we like best are all about the personal meaning. Some of my faves are due to memories, some because they represent personal milestones in skill or process. I gave up a long time ago trying to decide what others might like because they bring a completely different set of memories or "likes" to the party. Great discussion point. I hope the "boys get-together" was a lot of fun (and that you all found your trousers).
Been watching Adam long enough to know he's fitter than many 20 year olds and has years of awesome vlogs yet to come (if Gavin doesn't embarrass him into a life of seclusion) !
