    If you eat and throw a mango seed anywhere in India it just pops up as a plant. That's how easy it's to grow in India. No hassles. It's a very easy tree to grow. But with right environment.

      People do this thing is to plant it safely indoor.
      Of course he can plant this tree outside their home too.
      But they have problem with the seasons. And some squirrel and stuff maybe.
      Why so many overproud indians on internet??
      Like..your nation is not that fertile. If want to talk about fertile and diverse land, look at indonesia. Volcanoes everywhere and truly diverse. More diverse than india.

      @goodgreatfreeforever6188 it sprouted within a few weeks. We're in South Orange County, CA. I think it was summer when she planted it in a little pot outside. It's been about a year and a half it's maybe 18" tall now. I planted it in our native clay soil recently and it hasn't grown much since, but I'm thinking it'll probably gain some height over the summer

      Mangos aren't true to seed. so you won't get the same variety of mango as the seed you planted, so what you have to do is either buy a grafted mango tree or graft a cutting from the desired variety to your mango tree.

    I never took the pit off the shell before to grow a Mango tree.
    I just opened a hole on the soil, put the whole seed in it, and covered with soil. There, you have a mango seed that will grow into an amazing tree now.
    I grew up in El Salvador and that is how it is done. No fancy preparation at all.
    It might just take a little longer for the twig to appear, but it surely will grow. The tropical weather is such a generous place to plant. Just throw a fruit seed on the soil, and it would not disappoint😊

    the variety of mango tree from seed is determined by pollination and access to other local mango trees. you can graft mango trees and know the variety, but from seed, you gotta wait until a pollinator brings love from other trees.

    Nobody grows Mango from seeds. A seed takes 8 years to become a full grown tree and start fruiting. And still that tree needs Grafting to get the desired mango breed. So if someone wants to plant a mango tree then buy a grafted plant and it will give fruits the next year.

      If the plants from which you are getting the seeds are GMO, it's very likely that the tree will not produce any fruit. That's how GMO "protects their investment". I call it population control.
      Furthermore, you might even get into legal hot water for doing so if it's GMO because then it's patented and protected. Ain't that a kick in the teeth?
      A farmer once was sued by the GMO company, (and lost), because his corn crop was fertilized by the neighbors GMO corn which meant his crop had GMO genetic markers...

      put the whole seed with the sharp side under in soil ,a little water around the seed cover with plastic foil and put the pot on a warm place/forgot to say:scrape the outside of the seed with a knife to get rid of all the fruitflesh(gets mold starting)

    I forgot about mine in the zip loc bag probably 3 or 4 months. It continued sprouting and actually grew into a cute shape. I currently (about a month) still have it in water and would like to know what I can do next...(imagining a cute bonsai tree 😅) it seems to be growing out of it's shape though 😐. And when do I prune it to grow more branches??!! I grew one from seed and growing in soil (about a year old, 60cm high), single branches with the leaves coming from the trunk (6cm above the soil). It has healthy leaves 😊. I also have 3 avo plants started from seed braided together and growing as one plant 🪴 hopefully it will look great 👍 😉 even this one I would like to know how to get more branches... growing plants and experimenting is so calming...

    People in India say it's so easy to toss a seed and it grows. In the concrete jungles of USA, that doesn't work, sadly. Concrete cities don't allow rain water to access the soil, let alone let orchards from past CENTURIES GROW. GRRRRRRRRRR

    I have 5 seeds planted. Two different types of mangoes. The first couple seeds( I didn’t germinate them first😢) I heard put them in water for an hour then put them in dirt curved side down. Two have a green color to the top but no leaves. They were planted about 3 months ago? Hope they make it but I know now, Ty, how to grow them.

    As kids we would have lots of baby mango trees pop up on our backyard due to all the mangoes we would eat and just throw the mango stones !!!! But, very few survived. Sometimes I wonder if some of them grew big and are now bearing fruit !!!! We moved out of that small place, so I don’t know

    It took a few years of trying & trying , to sprout a mango seed. So about 4 years ago it finally happened. It's about 4 ft tall. A few weeks ago a avocado seed sprouted. It's a pink color?! Have a few more seeds waiting to sprout. Your rooting containers are interesting.

  • @rickthaler

    the seed doesnt grow the same variety of fruit. just like many other plants, eg avocado, it will only create a fruit that is good to eat 1 in 10,000 times. That is why they are GRAFTED.

  • @lifeisgood070
    @lifeisgood070 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does a mango actually grow a viable plant though?? Like avocados do not… They grow varieties that don't taste very good generally. Same with apples. You have to plant like 8000 apple trees to get another good variety.
    I have no idea about mangoes though

  • @shennalim111
    @shennalim111 ปีที่แล้ว

    I understood the problem with mangos, avocados etc was that they didn't grow to type. You wait 7 years for the fruit and it's not what you expected (in a bad way). That's why commercial crops are all grafted.

Our small Avocado we started in the dirt did very well tips died but there doing ok it's been a hard winter. In order to see what we can push in Oregon I will say everyone of my pineapple guava shrubs are jumping and I need to get into the ground or go up a container I toped three out of 15 to see what happened they split and growing stinks off I won't be growing them tall but happy to eat them some time for they don't ship the fruit.

    That will grow for all of 2 months till it wont fit... Mango's have very large leaves. Anything with large leaves does not like small pots, especially tree's that fruit. It will never fruit if kept in that. It will eventually die.

    So from what i know ok, congratulations you got a mango tree but for it to fruit you need 5-8 years if you plant it from seeds. Unrelated note if you try to grow avocado from seeds you need to wait 13 years to fruit
