Fantastic video! I am working on this exact move. When I make this move correctly, my follow through feels so good. The hips and shoulders rotate the way they should, the arms extend, and the club releases in a way that make the swing feel smooth, athletic and powerful. And at the finish, you can feel that this is the way the great golfers hit the ball. And I almost forgot, this move definitely eliminates early extension. For anyone who doubts the importance of this move, I can personally attest that every word of your video is absolutely true. Your videos are all tremendous, but this one might be the best!

As a 78 year old, I have fought a constant battle to get my left side out of the way through impact, so I can release of the club properly. Coupled with what you say in this video along with your last video on the outward rotation of the left knee at long last I am getting through with proper release and dynamic impact. I have almost improved my distance by two clubs! In this video, what I have found is feeling my right hip rising and going through almost the same as the right knee does at impact makes sure that my left hip is cleared out of the way. Maintaining the chest looking towards the ground, I have eliminated the early extension of the body. Many, many thanks Eric for your great instruction.😎👌
@@CogornoGolf I agree. I honed in on the immediate aspect of the right side bend, not later in the downswing. Wow, what a difference in the feeling and the results. I had been working on side bend, but making the right side bend immediate as I dropped my arms made all the difference in the world. You are a master, Eric. I hit a few a little fat but the majority were long and on target. I'm just not sure why it works so well. Maybe you can explain that to me. Regardless, thank you so much. I cannot even tell you how great this video is!!! Been having such a problem with consistency and all it had to do was staying in this side bend with keeps you in your spine throughout the shot. Especially when it was colder, I was coming out of this position which left me clueless as to why I was falling apart on my shots, especially approach shots. I am short and a stocky build, which means if I don't maintain this form, it will immediately affect my results. Opening my left shoulder too soon, and I am doomed. This helps stay down into the ball. Thanks Eric!
I have struggled with early extension (standing up) in my golf swing forever. This is the very first time I have seen and now understand the root cause of this. Made an immediate positive impact in my ball striking Thank you Eric for providing in much detail how to correct that swing flaw.
Us amateurs have always struggled with separation, and now I have found a drill that brings it closest to being automatic. Hardly think about separation now. Brilliant, and many thank’s.
I had been smothering the ball, fighting an overdraw, or sometimes even a hook. I realized it was because my shoulders were too "level" through the hitting area. Adding right side bend helped me get rid of the hook, and also hit the ball further(shot 74 today with a double). He's right! It also automatically induces more rotation, and helps you swing, and finish more balanced. This is such a key move, that rarely anyone talks about. Great info, Eric.
Great, never heard of this before. Coincidentally, I’ve recently discovered Tommy Fleetwood’s awesome swing, and he is doing exactly this! Head is almost horizontal during downswing. Eye opener and looking forward to working on this. Also, your production quality is top notch! Really enjoyable audio and visual presentation.
More gold from Eric. This really helped me with changing club path from out to in, to in to out. So much easier to attack the inside of the ball and swing right to create a draw.
Eric This is SO going to help me , thank you. I've tried keeping my backside back, my head down , my pelvis back but this approach makes TOTAL sense . Cannot wait to try it esp your advice re different personal keys. Excellent, Mike
Eric I felt this accidentally on the range after playing with my swing for an hour. Felt like I was looking at the target laying down on my side but it improved my impact dramatically. Didn’t know what I had done until literally your video popped up the next day. Fantastic help with my early extension great video!
Eric this is the most brilliant move i have ever tried. Worked off the bat as i smacked one down the middle w driver and zinged one to the green. How come this has never been described this way? I think what it does is create level turning of hips and eliminates too much slide - a very modern swing is the result . Big thanks to Eric
I have been an early extender all my life. But I think that this tip along with everything else you share in your Performance Golf Zone Early Extension Masterclass is my road to recovery! Looking for more consistent ball striking and more distance since I won't be standing up and throwing my hands at the ball. Many thanks.
Thanks!! Wait for the videos next week....a lot of AWESOME videos coming to fix early extension...Im exited for everyone to see the masterclass...its the best we've done to date
This video is gold! I’m a good player but always battled high hands at impact due to not being able to shallow out the club. Always thought and have been told that it was from shoulder instability and flexibility, but I pass all the TPI tests. Miss was always high hands with a flipped face resulting in pushes or hooks. Getting this extreme feel for the side bend allowed me to not get stuck and under rotate, getting the club more shallow and exiting on a more left path with less face rotation. This plagued me for years.
Dude I have the same issue and only discovered it after getting back into golf recently due to coaching, and recording my swing which is so easy now and not when I played as much. Played well as a HS kid and junior golf, even played college but always inconsistent. My short game saved me. But I see my swing now and see the early extension raising up and flipping. Can’t wait to fix it. Hope it’s not too late…
Awesome video! I have been working on earlier and more hip turn and less early extension for a while. I can’t wait to try out the points made in this video tomorrow.
This is excellent I’ve been taking videos of my swing and comparing it to yours and your video lessons. I’m not very far off but this is my biggest problem not enough side bend especially at impact. Thanks Eric
Very good. I play off 3 H/C and, (maybe arrogantly), thought my swing was fine. But I didn't have enough RSB. I put this video into practice and I'm hitting it more consistently and just a touch of draw. Just got round in 1 under. I think you and Clay Ballard are in a different league to other TH-cam coaches.
The thing I like about the concept of right side bend, and this is just my personal experience and I could be way off-base, is that for me it reinforces the feeling of keeping the trail elbow bent and tight to the body on the downswing. Right elbow bend has been a game-changer for me in terms of contact and clubface control. Great vid.
I agree. What is happening is the shoulders get back to even and instead of trying to yank the club down or muscle the swing with your back the movement creates a centrifugal force that is making the club move away from your body. You gain width and close the space between your right arm and your body at the same time. The trick is the clubhead is out in space and it can not catch up to your shoulder dropping toward your hip. It seems all good things happen with a little bend. Hit the slot like magic, and weight transfer is done without a thought.
Thanks Eric. I applied this starting Sept 20 and am already seeing huge improvements. After years of early extension, starting solid contact and better ball flight.
This is great! When I do this it feels as if I'm "hanging back" but it's actually just my trail shoulder moving down and around. Perfect indoor drill for honing technique until the courses open up... In three months or so 😁
Class video. Gone through a similar lesson this week with right should right knee working down in transition, made a real difference and it’s great to watch some different feels and thoughts on this 👍
Great video Eric. I rarely see anyone do this move correctly. Everyone I see (myself included) wants to straighten very quickly through impact. For me to even get close to this position I have to feel like I’m swinging very slowly. I actually hit the ball further though because of improved compression. Your breakdown on the golf swing is simply the best instruction available. Thanks.
To avoid early extension try placing your hands a little further from your body than you would normally. One of the possible causes of early extension is because the hands are placed too close to the body at address. When the hands are placed too close to the body at address, the golfer is forced to stand up or extend/straighten up to prevent over the top and to be able to strike the ball with an extended left arm at the impact position.
@@CogornoGolf I believe that in the attempt to "hit" the ball most golfers are in a hurry to hammer the club onto the ball. This may cause early extension especially if they are hitting behind the ball. They then compensate by trying to move up too soon instead of waiting and allowing the weight of the club and the momentum to carry them to a high finish. Your drills and lessons are a great help to those of us who move incorrectly. Thanks!
Last summer I eliminated my early extension by focusing on shoulder plane & trying to make shoulder plane as vertical as possible through the downswing (a Tommy Fleetwood esque swing). Hit some very fat shots at first, but I adapted to it with practice All of which resembles this video...just with a different focus, which worked for me. That feel might help others too :)
I worked on this movement at the range today and hit a number of pushes and push slices particularly when using the driver. I’m thinking that I developed a reverse pivot or was getting stuck. I’ll keep working on it. I appreciate the content and always appreciate your instruction.
I’ve been struggling finding a fix for my early extension. Managed to get an in to out path but still hump the ball. This is a feeling I’ve never felt before and that’s good!
Eric muy bueno tu video de lo mejor que he visto . Didactico ,practico, sensillo me simplifico muchisimo la mecanica de mi swing Muchisimas gracias por sintetizar 20 años de practica erronea GRACIAS
AH now I understand the correct way to use right side bend - you have to maintain the forward flexion AND right side bend to rotate easier through impact. Thank you Eric, i've never heard it explained so well.
Best Video ever seen and so well explained on Side Bend topic. Have always been Eric fans and loving this. Trying to emulate this and bring this to the course, hopefully with positive results. Keep up with the good work, Eric.
This seems to have helped me quit pulling the ball left. If the shoulders are too flat, ball goes left. Right side bend thru impact and into follow thru means better results for me. Thanks for posting this video.
Fingers crossed my friend! If this doesn't sort it and you have some extra money around I'm willing to bet this will :) ericcogornogolf.podia.com/early-extension-master-class
Its so funny how the body is all connected and feel isnt always real...forever i was trying to start with the hips on my downswing, then i discovered this right side bend stuff and now for whatever reason my hips clear completely out or the way
I’ve have an issue with early extension under pressure. Tried to image backside on wall . This drill is great as your shoulder go forward your butt goes back . I’ve had lessons on this told to drop spine angle and turn. I just go over the top. The side bend is key. I get it!! Eric come and teach in Scotland, I’d sign up.
Excellent, best video I've seen on side bend, couldn't have come at a better time, working on it at the moment with following result. Exclusive to my wedge, No side bend = Early extension= Shank. Have ligament issues with my left ankle. Any tips on reducing the side pressure on the left foot? Viewing your swing does the ultimate pressure move toward the heel, or is this wishful thinking.
Hey Keith! Glad to hear you're moving in the direction! I do not have any tips on that...I would work with a doctor or physical therapist. I would have to see you swing and talk through that much more before offering any recommendations
All good---- Options 1. Dont do it with wedges 2. Add something else to lower flight......options: -ball position more back -weight more forward -hands more forward -less extension in follow through (chest more down) Hope that helps
Great lesson why does none of the lesson I had nobody never explain that to me I must have wasted so many years trying to fix that issue thanks a million Guy from Belgium
I have been working on this for about 3 weeks with awesome results with my 8 iron through 60 degree wedge. I struggle with longer irons. I saw it on George Gankas channel. I love your explanation of it. Any tips to use this on driver swing and longer irons on ground? Theoretically it should be the same with driver but ball being teed up and I hit up on ball makes it a little difficult for me. Thanks
Hey Carl! I really would have to see your swing to say for sure why that's happening. Check out some of the upcoming videos on where the head is at in space...should be out later this week. That will talk more about how to translate some of this to longer clubs.
Great advice Eric, thank you very much. Doing this solves so many issues with my swing. Shot my best round of the year yesterday, keeping that bend in play :)
Hey Eric-when in the downswing or throughswing do you start losing forward flexion? I think the question could also be framed as - when does your chest start elevating? With reference to this video you have RSB at the end but your chest is not pointing at the ground (which is possible) as it is prior to impact-somewhere the transition starts. Where?
I hit balls thinking of the left side bend and thinking when does the right side bend come into play. I came home and looked up this video and I think I found my answer. If there is anything you can add to this video please do. Love your very detailed descriptions.
Love that Jerry----this one goes through the details of RSB as well th-cam.com/video/CEsxQyxMM_w/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUccmljIENvZ29ybm8gcmlnaHQgc2lkZSBiZW5kIA%3D%3D
I have been working on this move. It sure helps with hitting the ball flush with more power and I already am a long hitter. The problem is my bad shots are off the charts bad. I'll literally hit 50 yard blocks with my driver. I want to master this move but I can't take it out on the course. But the effortless power I get with this move is crazy.
On the downswing, all weight forward over front left leg posted, this will allow you to take weight off rear leg, dip the right knee down and forward, twisting the hips on and angle with the side bend,. Having all weight foward is the key, allowing the right knee and hip to drop down and rotating to the inside, clearing resistance of the side bend as your hands pass by hips, left wrist rotating through the ball and hinging up at 4 oclock into the waiter position.
I have working on this for a long time. I can do all the drills and half swings when things are slow. As soon as I go to a full swing , instead of my lead hip moving back , my trail hip moves forward and my elbow crashes into my side not in front of me. Therefore stuck and a two way miss. Right now my clubs quiver if there is a lake on the course because they cant swim.
Hi Mark I also have this problem. The best thing for me was to concentrate on my head being very quiet at Impact, behind the ball and the feeling of lowering. This gives the same results as the shoulder lowering. For me it felt easier to concentrate on just my head.
Eric Cogorno Golf I will keep at it. Just trying to explain we are all different and have to find the correct trigger to let us move like we are trying..I am still working on it. I like how you have many videos to try and fix this one problem. I am a lefty that plays righty. I can do this move easily left handed. I'm to old to switch LOL
Derek Edwards thanks. I agree. Video shows I have very steady head, probably the only thing that lets me get the club on the ball. Now if I can get my tail bone to stay back.
Ahhh the Cogorno ads when im trying to watch a corgono vid 😆. My antidote against early extention at the moment is 'pinning' the trail hip back on start of transition then drive that trail elbow infront of me 👍
Great stuff here. I tried this out because I feel my shoulders too flat through impact by watching video of myself. It seems to keep the clubface pointed to the target for a bit longer. I also have some soreness in my left lower back near my hip...maybe I'm doing it wrong !!!
Eric, it was only recently I heard the term “right side bend.” Although the movement is and always has been present in every good players swing. I think there may be a correlation with what Flick calls “dynamic balance.” As in our bodies are naturally seeking balance in all our movements. If in the downswing our lower body is leading with movement forward our upper body naturally responds by moving rearward to maintain our balance, ergo, right side bend.
This is very good. Where it can get confusing is how your LEAD shoulder initially works down then up. An IG explanation would be great bc this where I can get out of sequence. Thanks!
Great vid as always Eric. Question: What is the feel for getting the bent right arm straight after impact? Which direction do you "throw" and when - down, horizontally, up? Have a tendancy to chicken wing and flip (I know rotation fixes it but right arm confuses me). Love the new found sarcasm in your delivery!!
Haha thank you sir! How and where to throw is really dependent on a few other factors (how much rotation, how much side being the main ones) With a really good pivot (dustin Johnson) you through more at the target With a tiger style pivot more 45* past impact With a shittier early extension pivot more just past the ball
Super video to fix early extension but trick is to execute and practice getting correct the right side bend movement by raising right hip and lowering right shoulder at same time- easier said than done. I find lifting my right heel helps to raise the right hip while lowering the right shoulder. Once you got it ,bye bye early extension!
Great video. I find this position far easier to achieve when hitting down on the ball with irons and nearly impossible to achieve when hitting up on ball with driver. Seems many pros like Steve Stricker go deep into this side bend with irons but keep relatively flat shoulders with driver. Any thoughts on the difference?
Some differences...primarily head more back with driver (more extension) th-cam.com/video/ZJVFFIGa0f4/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/hbsHxC3bIw4/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/TJtx-qVSgVU/w-d-xo.html
Hello! Yes, obviously when adding in right side bend or forward bend that you maybe didn't have before.... That makes you get closer to the ground So since you are getting closer...you have to shorten something else to make up for that Generally thats the right arm and or right wrist AND MAKING SURE YOURE ROTATED ENOUGH How? Feel like your right arm or right wrist are more bent and turn more. Do it until you don't hit fat. Record it. See what your actually doing. Rinse and repeat.
Head on a pillow going back and then going through the ball. Old saying but I did not know that it is so much easier to rotate through the ball with side bend. Thanks.
Hi Eric, Can another idea/feel for what you describe utilize the idea of at impact...having your right elbow close to yoru hip and your chest more toward the target. As I go through your drill..I often find I still struggle to stay bent over during the side bend and rotation, but when I started thinking about getting my chest at the target at impact, it seemed to be helping me create that mind/body connection with what you show in this video. Is this something you think could be good in the moment but has bad consequences or is spot on?
Hey! Right elbow/chest feels-yes it can. Talked a little about that here: th-cam.com/video/TtRDa3s7Bwo/w-d-xo.html Yes-you are correct...chest NEEDS to be open. Talked about specifics here and in similar videos on rotation amounts: th-cam.com/video/qmEGRbrdmmI/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/ULy3gQuw88Q/w-d-xo.html

Thank you my friend! Appreciate the kind words! Credit to my partner Mary and she makes them all look and sound great!
More gold from Eric. This really helped me with changing club path from out to in, to in to out. So much easier to attack the inside of the ball and swing right to create a draw.
Love it, John!
Great instruction again Eric. The right bend has been my first important step to get rid of my early extension
Thanks, Henrik!
great content Eric really appreciate the effort you put into explaining things whether it be the problem or solutions. Thanks !!
Thanks man!
Eric. You are truly a great teacher. Teaching is an art and skill and takes Commitment. Us regular folks can really follow you and apply right away.
Thanks! Appreciate your kind words and support!
Eric
This is SO going to help me , thank you.
I've tried keeping my backside back, my head down , my pelvis back but this approach makes TOTAL sense .
Cannot wait to try it esp your advice re different personal keys.
Excellent,
Mike
Thanks, Mike! Happy to help my friend!
Eric I felt this accidentally on the range after playing with my swing for an hour. Felt like I was looking at the target laying down on my side but it improved my impact dramatically. Didn’t know what I had done until literally your video popped up the next day. Fantastic help with my early extension great video!
Love it, Jerry! This is a HUGE part for people like us getting my of early extension!!
Very good video. Help me a lot in addressing my early extension and hitting the ball further. Thanks!
Thanks Danny!
I've been trying to fix my early extension forever and I've tried everything and nothing worked until this video. Thank you so much
Love to hear that, Spencer...my pleasure!
My pleasure, my friend!
I have been an early extender all my life. But I think that this tip along with everything else you share in your Performance Golf Zone Early Extension Masterclass is my road to recovery! Looking for more consistent ball striking and more distance since I won't be standing up and throwing my hands at the ball. Many thanks.
Hope it helps, Anthony! Appreciate the support my friend....lets get rid of that EE!
I am an early extender and I think you hit the nail on the head with this one.
Perfect! Love to hear that, Josh!
This one may be useful as well

Dude I have the same issue and only discovered it after getting back into golf recently due to coaching, and recording my swing which is so easy now and not when I played as much. Played well as a HS kid and junior golf, even played college but always inconsistent. My short game saved me. But I see my swing now and see the early extension raising up and flipping. Can’t wait to fix it. Hope it’s not too late…
Awesome video! I have been working on earlier and more hip turn and less early extension for a while. I can’t wait to try out the points made in this video tomorrow.
Hope it helps, Jim!
Excellent lesson Eric. I want your golf swing! 😁
:) Thanks James!
This is excellent I’ve been taking videos of my swing and comparing it to yours and your video lessons. I’m not very far off but this is my biggest problem not enough side bend especially at impact. Thanks Eric
:) Thank you! Keep at it!
Excellent explanation/demonstration of something I need to incorporate into my swing, thanks.
My pleasure, John! Hope it helps!
Love to hear that my friend...appreciate the kind words :)
Great move, i really struggle with early extension, this is an easier way to manage, thanks coach
My pleasure!
The thing I like about the concept of right side bend, and this is just my personal experience and I could be way off-base, is that for me it reinforces the feeling of keeping the trail elbow bent and tight to the body on the downswing. Right elbow bend has been a game-changer for me in terms of contact and clubface control. Great vid.
Love it! Appreciate the kind words!
I think that this is the best lesson for the beginners.
Thanks!
Thanks Eric. I applied this starting Sept 20 and am already seeing huge improvements. After years of early extension, starting solid contact and better ball flight.
Excellent!
Great video! Broken down in a way that was easy to execute at range. Already seeing tighter dispersion and more consistent contact
Appreciate it! Glad to hear that!
Great lesson. Tommy Fleetwood is a great swing to watch on side bend.
Thanks!
This is great! When I do this it feels as if I'm "hanging back" but it's actually just my trail shoulder moving down and around. Perfect indoor drill for honing technique until the courses open up... In three months or so 😁
Exactly!
Right side bend and extension into follow through

Class video. Gone through a similar lesson this week with right should right knee working down in transition, made a real difference and it’s great to watch some different feels and thoughts on this 👍
Thanks, Adam!
Thanks.
Appreciate it, Dave! Slower and further is a good combo :)
@@CogornoGolf Eric, Do you agree with my explanation on why golfers are sometimes
forced to early
extend their body.
Not sure...
Hit some very fat shots at first, but I adapted to it with practice
All of which resembles this video...just with a different focus, which worked for me. That feel might help others too :)
Love it!!
I worked on this movement at the range today and hit a number of pushes and push slices particularly when using the driver.
I’m thinking that I developed a reverse pivot or was getting stuck.
I’ll keep working on it.
I appreciate the content and always appreciate your instruction.
Hope it helps Charilie....my need to square face earlier with this
I’ve been struggling finding a fix for my early extension. Managed to get an in to out path but still hump the ball. This is a feeling I’ve never felt before and that’s good!
Nice!!
This has helped me more than anything cure early extension. Thank you!
Love to hear it!
Eric muy bueno tu video de lo mejor que he visto . Didactico ,practico, sensillo me simplifico muchisimo la mecanica de mi swing Muchisimas gracias por sintetizar 20 años de practica erronea GRACIAS
Thanks, Alfredo!
AH now I understand the correct way to use right side bend - you have to maintain the forward flexion AND right side bend to rotate easier through impact. Thank you Eric, i've never heard it explained so well.
MY pleasure! Absolutely...you have to RE GAIN forward flexion from the top with right side bend and turn in the first 1/2 of the downswing
Best Video ever seen and so well explained on Side Bend topic. Have always been Eric fans and loving this. Trying to emulate this and bring this to the course, hopefully with positive results. Keep up with the good work, Eric.
Appreciate it, Khoo!!
Some good lesson money to be made with the golfers behind you on the range !
Im booked until end of August :(
Fantastic video! Very well explained, as per all your videos.
Thanks a lot!
This seems to have helped me quit pulling the ball left. If the shoulders are too flat, ball goes left. Right side bend thru impact and into follow thru means better results for me. Thanks for posting this video.
You got it!!
Thanks for simplicity of explanation
Hope it helps my friend!
Great video!! I have problem with early extension. Hopefully this will fix it. Thanks. 👍👍👍
Fingers crossed my friend!
If this doesn't sort it and you have some extra money around I'm willing to bet this will :) ericcogornogolf.podia.com/early-extension-master-class
Eric Cogorno Golf ok. We will see. Otherwise that is the next step. You are one of the best on TH-cam! Great job! 👍 have a happy Easter 🐣
U r amazing. I did this now and i started hitting good.
Excellent!
Its so funny how the body is all connected and feel isnt always real...forever i was trying to start with the hips on my downswing, then i discovered this right side bend stuff and now for whatever reason my hips clear completely out or the way
:)
Eric great video really helped with my downswing, question, how do you get the right hip higher?
Make it go higher...nothing needs to come before it....could also make left hip go lower
Glad to hear that my friend! Maybe one day!
Very well explained, thank you. Never heard anybody explain it that way...
My pleasure my friend! Thanks for watching!
Flare your left foot out at about a 30-40 deg angle at address. That takes stress off the ankle and aids rotation.
@@ballerbilliards Hi Ron appreciated
great info Eric, very helpful
Thanks, Rick!
Awesome stuff as always Eric, thank you. The folks whacking balls behind you need to watch some of your stuff.
Appreciate it :)
Eric, I think you just fixed my early extension problem..Thank you, thank you...
My pleasure!!
@@CogornoGolf It worked...:)
Eric, I did this today and crushed it with my woods and irons! 😊 My only concern is, I hit my wedges super high using the side bend technique?
All good----
Options
1. Dont do it with wedges
2. Add something else to lower flight......options:
-ball position more back
-weight more forward
-hands more forward
-less extension in follow through (chest more down)
Hope that helps
Great lesson why does none of the lesson I had nobody never explain that to me I must have wasted so many years trying to fix that issue thanks a million
Guy from Belgium
Hope it helps, guy!
Fantastic video on a tricky move Eric.
Thanks, Gary!
Love it!!
Like always , great video and great explanation 👍
Thank you-hope it helps!
Where?
Between left arm parallel and shaft parallel (p5-p6) in the downswing
I hit balls thinking of the left side bend and thinking when does the right side bend come into play. I came home and looked up this video and I think I found my answer. If there is anything you can add to this video please do. Love your very detailed descriptions.
Love that Jerry----this one goes through the details of RSB as well

I have been working on this move. It sure helps with hitting the ball flush with more power and I already am a long hitter. The problem is my bad shots are off the charts bad. I'll literally hit 50 yard blocks with my driver. I want to master this move but I can't take it out on the course. But the effortless power I get with this move is crazy.
Hope you sort it out my friend!
Another BOMBastic vidéo ! Thanks Éric
:)
Hope you figure it out my friend!
Good one. The viewing angle, what does it look like optically?
Closer to ground/ball as you turn
Ahhh the Cogorno ads when im trying to watch a corgono vid 😆.
My antidote against early extention at the moment is 'pinning' the trail hip back on start of transition then drive that trail elbow infront of me 👍
Lol!
That can work!
Great stuff here. I tried this out because I feel my shoulders too flat through impact by watching video of myself. It seems to keep the clubface pointed to the target for a bit longer. I also have some soreness in my left lower back near my hip...maybe I'm doing it wrong !!!
Thanks, Rob! Hope it helps!!
Hopefully you turned around when you finished this and tried to help all those hackers behind you.
A lot of denim on that range... A LOT of denim...
Haha
@mjk-th2tm lol, first thing I noticed
As always, great video. But more importantly, pretty sweet shirt.
Stepping up my game......kind of
Eric, it was only recently I heard the term “right side bend.” Although the movement is and always has been present in every good players swing. I think there may be a correlation with what Flick calls “dynamic balance.” As in our bodies are naturally seeking balance in all our movements. If in the downswing our lower body is leading with movement forward our upper body naturally responds by moving rearward to maintain our balance, ergo, right side bend.
Appreciate the feedback and you being with us here!
This is very good. Where it can get confusing is how your LEAD shoulder initially works down then up. An IG explanation would be great bc this where I can get out of sequence. Thanks!
Check these out and see if they help

Great vid as always Eric. Question: What is the feel for getting the bent right arm straight after impact? Which direction do you "throw" and when - down, horizontally, up? Have a tendancy to chicken wing and flip (I know rotation fixes it but right arm confuses me). Love the new found sarcasm in your delivery!!
Haha thank you sir!
How and where to throw is really dependent on a few other factors (how much rotation, how much side being the main ones)
With a really good pivot (dustin Johnson) you through more at the target
With a tiger style pivot more 45* past impact
With a shittier early extension pivot more just past the ball
Super video to fix early extension but trick is to execute and practice getting correct the right side bend movement by raising right hip and lowering right shoulder at same time- easier said than done. I find lifting my right heel helps to raise the right hip while lowering the right shoulder. Once you got it ,bye bye early extension!
Yessir! Talked about that here: th-cam.com/video/E_C3K2E3IY0/w-d-xo.html
Some differences...primarily head more back with driver (more extension)

Hi, Eric great video. How do you train the arms to bend to avoid fat shots?
Hello!
Yes, obviously when adding in right side bend or forward bend that you maybe didn't have before....
That makes you get closer to the ground
So since you are getting closer...you have to shorten something else to make up for that
Generally thats the right arm and or right wrist AND MAKING SURE YOURE ROTATED ENOUGH
How?
Feel like your right arm or right wrist are more bent and turn more. Do it until you don't hit fat. Record it. See what your actually doing. Rinse and repeat.
Head on a pillow going back and then going through the ball. Old saying but I did not know that it is so much easier to rotate through the ball with side bend. Thanks.
Yessir!
Brilliant Eric ... as very often Thanks
My pleasure, Jean!
Hi Eric,
Can another idea/feel for what you describe utilize the idea of at impact...having your right elbow close to yoru hip and your chest more toward the target.
Talked a little about that here: th-cam.com/video/TtRDa3s7Bwo/w-d-xo.html
Yes-you are correct...chest NEEDS to be open. Talked about specifics here and in similar videos on rotation amounts: th-cam.com/video/qmEGRbrdmmI/w-d-xo.html
