18 links of five ton chain in a loop to a hook and a 16lbs sledge with a pin in one end works as a slide hammer just fine... Knew a mechanic who told me "I can do anything in 3 hours with twenty thousand dollars of tools except keep them sorted". XD
Take the bullet heater out side and set the head in front of it to get the injectors out. Chris you should send the injectors to Area Diesel Services to get them tested later. Or one near you.
I made my own slide hammer for getting my injectors out it works perfect and I made my sleeve puller to you don't need to run and buy everything that's all part of having a shop
Keep doing what your doing chris i do this kind of engine work for a living nice to see someone do it them selfs instead of just sending it to a shop to be repaired
I usually go with the 5 mil, they tear easier than the 7's and 9's but a lot more tactile feel. At 12 bucks/100 It's a trade off on filling the trash can faster and not dropping and losing nuts/bolts to the floor. I actually left a field service job just a couple days ago and ran to HF and got their cheapest slide hammer kit and scooted back. The first stuck panel took 45 minutes to free up and I had to massage some dings from beating on it, the 2nd one took 43 seconds with no damage. Good luck brother, farm on.
Stud nuts are nuts used with studs. There are multiple types of cap screws. ( socket head / hex head / flat head / etc ) the difference is the threads cap screws have threads all the way to the head of the bolt / screw.
Fast Orange! As far as gloves go, it helps if you wear them I guess!😂 I never could do much in gloves. Dawn dish soap and a good scrub brush was usually my go to!
As long as you don't use an air chisel to get the injector out you will be OK like me out of my jd 3350 head on it's 22000 hour rebuild I had new ones needless to say 😂😂😂❤
Glad to see you back to work on the Big Red Semi truck it is great to see that you have a good friend this time around on the truck. I want to get the last of the Carhart limited edition sweatshirt but I want to ask you if could you please hold off until the 3rd of next month when I get paid. I am asking but I understand if the answer is absolute (No!!) which means that I have lost out on the Carhart sweatshirt limited edition sweatshirt. I feel that I at least asked!! Although I understand business dealings! Sincerely! R.S.V.
i SEE BY the end of your day you gave up on the gloves even though you had enough greese and oil on them it looked like you were wearing gloves. lol keep pushing Duffy. Whats up Isaiah good to see you back on the channel.
I have icon and Quinn torch wrench from harbor freight they both go up to 250 ft lbs cost between 230.00 for both together over a year four or five times every couple months
You can make a slide hammer with a treaded rod and something junk that weighs up to ten pounds. An old hammer head with a completely missing handle might do the job. Worse case scenario is that you have to punch the injectors out and ruin the tip. I had to do that once and send out the injectors for a rebuild job.
To pull the injectors out of C7 Cat, we ended up using a 3 foot long crowbar. It took a bunch of effort to get them out. Overall, it looks like progress all around.
He's probably allergic to the powder inside the gloves like he is lime powder. I'm not allergic to lime, but I am to the powder in powdered gloves and baby powder. Can use other stuff like baking soda or flour.
They are, and sometimes get weak and need replaced, but they keep your house/barn from burning down. I had a faulty heater and reset one a couple times. Didn't realize it was melted and caused a short. Almost burnt my house down, it had charred the outlet and inside the wall. I saw it sparking ehind the wall plate with the lights off. It saved my home.
No difference between torque values whether it's a capscrew (bolt) or a stud if they are the same diameter And hardness. Usually with head stud kits they will give you a torque value for the stud and you hope that your head gasket gets the proper amount of crush.
😂 there is more to what the torque value is then that bud. As well as studs that are the same size as bolts alway have a different torque. Stud torque is always greater than putting a bolt in heads.
Hey Chris really like all you do but can't believe after all that work you're not replacing both heads, just sayin and hope not jinx you.god bless you and be safe
Hisea would not replace my boots because they said I had to provide them with the order number. I bought them directly from Hisea and registered them online with Hisea. I was never told to save a order number for warranty claim. I registered them like I was instructed to do and warranty denied. No such thing as a lifetime warranty on Hisea boots as far as I am concerned. Good boots but I will never purchase again. Warranty is BS.
😂 it’s a no brainer with anything that you need keep the receipts that also has the order number 🤷🏻♂️😂 Would stores let you walk in with them and do return without proof that you purchased them there 💁♂️
The proof that I purchased them from Hisea was that I provided all that information ( Name address, model number, order number etc) to them when I registered the boots with them. That is what their directions said you had to do in order to make a warranty claim in the future. I followed their warranty directions than they changed the rules. In addition since I purchased them directly from Hisea they should have had a record of the sale. Just a marketing scheme to sell more boots. I suspect if I had saved the receipt they would have claimed I did not register them as was required. What than was the purpose of registering the boots if they were not going to use that info for a warranty claim.@@kevink4914
@kevink4914 depends on the brand. Carolina boots you can literally walk into store with them on your feet and walk out with a new pair on your feet. Not lifetime warranty but they do warranty a lot of issues
Did it occur to you to maybe take the old head with you when you get the new one? Makes sense that if they rebuild heads, they would know better on injector removal?
They had water. I just knew over night it could freeze up if not heated. Welcome to farming in the winter many people have to break ice to give cows water outside
Isaiah is indeed the crew chief. He's such a good guy, you're lucky to have him and the other guys as such helpful friends, Chris.
Absolutely, your a big help Isaiah
Your BEST learning was getting out of Carlisle. Great that learning is key to your successes. 👍👍👍
The Mac rebuild is like watching the Saprano’s. I keep waiting for the next episode to see what’s next
Looking forward to seeing the cow brush in action, those guys are going to love it

Good to see Isaiah in the channel
I’ve used the nine mill gloves for quite a while. I like them we use them a couple times before we throw them away.
I made my own slide hammer for getting my injectors out it works perfect and I made my sleeve puller to you don't need to run and buy everything that's all part of having a shop
Wow I thought I was the only one to use that expression about learning 👌
cap screw is a regular headed bolt, stud nut is a nut on a stud
To measure the length of a bolt or cap screw you measure under the bolt head.
The crew cheif is awsome to help out good people up there in farm country keep up the great content
Great video Chris thank you for sharing and your time was really great never miss a video and can't wait for next video thank you ti Issiafor the help

I liked the red mack when u bought it..i really like it now..👍
I use a small slide hammer for pulling injectors. Stud and nut are 2 separate pieces. Cap screws are bolts that usually have a washer or shoulder
Stud nuts are nuts used with studs. There are multiple types of cap screws. ( socket head / hex head / flat head / etc ) the difference is the threads cap screws have threads all the way to the head of the bolt / screw.
Crew chief is packing heat lol
Just in case I guy decides to go with the last chance move of the old rack & tap 😂
I think now you got that far you should have the injectors reconditioned
most likely need a slide hammer for the injectors they come in handy for many things
Always something getting closer
It helps to have a good group of friends your lucky
Next trip to town. How about buying a giant drum of hand cleaner? I like goop.
So much for the gloves 🧤 he just bought 😂
@@johnwudarcki9315 kinda hard to remember to put them on before start😁
Fast Orange! As far as gloves go, it helps if you wear them I guess!😂 I never could do much in gloves. Dawn dish soap and a good scrub brush was usually my go to!
Kresto hand cleaner is way better than goop or fast orange
He doesn't clean his hands ever
As long as you don't use an air chisel to get the injector out you will be OK like me out of my jd 3350 head on it's 22000 hour rebuild I had new ones needless to say 😂😂😂❤
Those 9 m Gloves in 2019 $7:00 a box.
Calves tank heater so they have water
Use a blut air chisel on side holed down back and fourth had to do it last summer on a ford
hi chris i always put anti seize on injectors like yours saves alot headaches
ACE Westlake Hardware in Missouri sells now Craftsman Tools and Power Tools as well.
Stud and Nut is what you've got on your mack, The Cap Screw is a type of bolt
Glad to see you back to work on the Big Red Semi truck it is great to see that you have a good friend this time around on the truck.

That’s such a good lookin truck! Great channel been watching for awhile. Always look forward to the videos. Great work.
Use an air chisel under the loab of the injector the vibrstion gets them loose😮😮
Take that GFCI plug, throw it in the garbage, and put a regular outlet. They are a waste of time. You have enough protection with the breaker.
i SEE BY the end of your day you gave up on the gloves even though you had enough greese and oil on them it looked like you were wearing gloves. lol keep pushing Duffy. Whats up Isaiah good to see you back on the channel.

Duffy are ever going to have hoddie that have the full zipper instead of pullovers?
When you see starting to move spray it with p b blaster then use your prie bo
Cap nuts are the tall ones, stud nuts are the short ones.
Icon torque wrench is a good one from harbor freight
Probably better to replace the injectors.
Great humor between You & the "Crew Chief"!!!
Duffy you need to hit up Sunfire heaters, you never know!!!
for us armchair mechanics what exactly was the head/valve issue after the autopsy/post mortem?

It always makes me nervous when a cutting torch is used for heating and the thumb is over the cutting lever
Nervous? This is real world not the how to manual

Overall, it looks like progress all around.
We had hell with the pencil injectors on a 6068 John Deere motor.
They didn't want a core in exchange for the new rebuilt head?
Wow,that's gotta be pricey.
Those gloves will rip easy if they are in the cold air long .
Baby powder or cornstarch in the gloves, they go on easier.
He's probably allergic to the powder inside the gloves like he is lime powder. I'm not allergic to lime, but I am to the powder in powdered gloves and baby powder. Can use other stuff like baking soda or flour.
Them resets on the outlet are a pain in the ass in our house

Atleast you can use Harbor Freight gloves there 2xxl biggest they sell wont fit my hands gotta order gloves so i dont use them much.
10.5 months you have live free on your farm now
Sir, good quality everyday meat and tater safety glassed are $2 dollars and change please use them when your prying on stuff you do a great job
Should have soaked the injector bodies with diesel fuel
I'll buy them in a heartbeat except they don't come inside 16
I guess refreshing doesn’t work to be first 😂
Gloves didnt last long!!!!! I have been known to have great intentions about personal protection but always end up with very greasy hands come evening
I would buy one with a zipper

@kevink4914 money is not a factor from what I've seem so far.
And ,if uou can't get em out without ruining them,or the head, that's even more money.
Stud nut is a nut on a threaded stud and a Hex bolt is a regular bolt. You guys are just over thinking it.
Cap screw is a bolt , stud nut is what you're doing
