    Those are some great drills to improve the power step for a high dive!
    Going to share this with my goalkeeper coach so we can try it at our next session. I'm a short goalkeeper so I'd find this very beneficial!!

    Hey Conor, how do you know when to come out and go to stop the ball or stay on your line? Also, sometimes I have a tiny bit of fear when having to go for high dive saves because of the landing, how do I get over it?

      @Alfie Walker Thank you so much, this helps. I really appreciate it, I'll try the mat thing.

      Hi! You get rid of the fear through practice; the more you practice (start small) the more you will get used to the landing. With coming out, if the ball is out of the control of the striker, and you can get there first, then come and get it. If not, then maybe narrow the angle just before they shoot

    Hi Conor,
    Hope you’re all well :)
    I have run into your videos on a few occasions over the past month and I must say your technique is amazing!
    One question: for the high dives can you talk me through the footwork? Also for the dive itself, I have looked at some of my own videos (not on TH-cam) and it seems like my legs are dragging when I go to dive, which is probably preventing me from getting in the air. I see some keepers like Lloris bend their knees to bring their legs up and then push out again mid-jump for extra extension, any recommendations?
    Thanks in advance and again, love the videos! Good Spanish by the way, I’d love to play there one day!
    Best wishes, Rob.

      Thanks Rob, that's very kind of you! The footwork before the final step is the most important with high dives, trying to get the speed up with either shuffle or cross over steps, as you can see in this video! Then, the final step is what generates the power/spring; you don't want to sink too deep, but step out on a positive angle and use that push to generate the height. Plyometrics & strength/power training in the gym can help to improve that power! I hope that helps!!

      @@ConorOKeefe thanks for the tip :) When we’ve done high dive training in the past it has always been with a hurdle to dive over and I think I focused more on diving over the hurdle and my footwork before the hurdle than keeping my eye on the ball and ended up psyching myself out a lot of the time!

    • @ConorOKeefe
      @ConorOKeefe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I’m not a big fan of the diving over hurdles/ropes, as I think it’s more of a distraction than an aid with footwork! And that’s the most important part of high dives!

    What protective under top do you wear? I find the mcdavid stuff expensive

    • @ConorOKeefe
      @ConorOKeefe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wear a McDavid undertop, but they are quite expensive. I wear some kipsta stuff too which is quite good and not as pricey
