  • ChatGPT and SciSpace answer the number one complaint of student researchers: "I found the article but couldn't understand it." No more. SciSpace uses the revolutionary power of ChatGPT to explain the article in plain language and answer your personal questions about it.
    ChatGPT has been called the most important tool since the modern search engine with its ability to answer almost any question or request. ChatGPT in education is so controversial it's considered cheating at some schools. But ChatGPT's popularity has also made it difficult to access. SciSpace is one of the few places today where ChatGPT can be accessed without delays.
    SciSpace offers much more than ChatGPT. Its database of 270 million journal articles and search tools are designed for the serious academic on the undergraduate and graduate levels.

    I'm so glad you touched on this subject! I've been seeing this everywhere and was curious your take on it. On another note, I love your videos - I'm working on my PhD and always find them to be a wonderful refresher for assignments big and small.

    On a different note, a new semester is about to start in 2 weeks for me and I'm already overwhelmed by the big fat textbooks that I have to read. Could you please make a video on how to get through those textbooks efficiently? Thanks in advance 🙏🙏🙏
    Thanks a million for your literature review video. After watching it, my assignment got one of the top marks 🙏🙏🙏

      Congrats on your lit review! The key to dealing with textbooks is the same as with journal articles. They should not be read word-for-word, front to back. When assigned a chapter or group of pages, first skim to see the headings and subheadings. You could even do a little outline of the section to be read. Then use scanning to get the gist under each heading.

    QUESTION TO Dr. Taylor: 1) if the contents of CHATGPT or SCIESPACE are used with proper citation would these be considered PLAGIARISM?
    2) what if we PARAPHRASE with those tools, and use them in our research works, could they be plagiarized?
    Thanks for your kind concern!

    • @peakdavid
      @peakdavid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your best bet is to paraphrase or summarize the contents of ChatGPT as you would other outside source. However, as of now, there is not a way that I know of to cite ChatGPT.

    @DavidTaylor, I was wondering about the implications for using ChatGPT for academic writing and also for graduate work since some universities are banning its use. So paraphrasing ChatGPT output is OK for academic work?

    • @peakdavid
      @peakdavid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Different schools and professors may have their own guidelines for using ChatGPT. I can't speak for all of them. In my classes, I encourage students to use ChatGPT as a research resource and to treat it as they would other sources.

    Could you copy the answers that it provides through the copilot into your essay or will plaigerism software detect the text ?

    • @peakdavid
      @peakdavid  ปีที่แล้ว

      Anytime you copy and paste something that isn't your own words without notifying the reader, it could be called plagiarism. To avoid the problem, paraphrase/condense/reword what Chat GPT gives you.

    Hello, teacher! Can you please enlighten me about something?
    You have mentioned before that we should avoid using "very" in academic writing.
    But is ok to use it before nouns( like: the very strength..... ) ??

    • @peakdavid
      @peakdavid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually, the word "very" is considered an empthy intensifier that is more common in speech and casual writing.
