Were there any songs/albums/bands that particularly inspired the Electronic Black Metal section? I have been trying to find any music that sounds like it, but have not had much luck.
The first time I heard such genre was with a band called Galadriel, that's the name I remember at least. On a side note, Distorted Memory and early Dawn of Ashes play also electronic BM.
Very good representations of the different subgenres with awesome riffs! This is the first subgenre video of any kind in which the creator doesn't fuck up half of the examples. Just two points of criticism: 1. You failed to include War Metal and early Black Metal (~1985-1990) 2. Black Thrash Metal without a Thrash beat is just Black Metal, so that's the only one you got "wrong"
I feel like the avant-garde and blackened thrash examples could have been better. Still an awesome video, just needs to be updated with some folk/pagan/medieval examples now!!
Any reccomendations of this type of Psychedelic black metal? Most of psych bm I found is Doors like gothic/stoner mashup with harsh vocals(Which also sounds amazing of course)
I really wish I do, I have few technical BM bands on my playlist, but none sounding like this. I'll wait for others with a better memory than mine to comment with suggestions 😀
What are some Gothic Black Metal bands that have the kind of sound in this vid? Most bands I can find called Gothic Black Metal are Blackened Doom Metal.
Thanks! It's not an existing song, it's something quick I composed. I'm not sure where I got the idea from, probably a generic rock n' roll riff (I want to say influenced by Satch Boogie?) and turned into a darker tune.
The term "post" means that something came after. Post Black Metal refers to a style that inherent elements from BM but done differently (similar to what post rock and post punk did). Although a lot of people use the term Post BM, but I never liked it, because it doesn't describe a musical genre, it's not really defined in one area, it's a wide spectrum. Basically any band who experiments with BM can, to a certain extent, be called Post BM. Some bands experiment with the general mood of the song, they replaced the gloomy vibe of the traditional BM with more a "bright" mood, musically speaking, that could translate into using chords other than the traditional Minor, Harmonic Minor chords, Post BM start experimenting with different chords (such as Major, m7, sus2, sus4, add9, etc). Other Post BM bands experimented with different elements.
@@lucernamundi I think that the starting point of Post MB is Ved buens ende (1995), based by first Ulver's drummer. It's very melodic and atonal permanently. It's very claustrophobic and dimensional permanently. It's very underground and not so unfamous permanently. Pure diamond of Norwegian BM.

I dare to say black metal is the most diverse genre in metal. It can blend well with lots of different styles, rhytms and etc.
Yep!
Black Metal is the best!! I fuckin love that raw lo-fi black metal crust punk sound, but ALL black metal is good!
Indeed 🙌🏻

Psychedelic Black Metal sounds like a bad acid trip
That's what it is!
The only bad acid trip is one where the acid is too weak to give you visuals.
