This is what this hobby is all about. This reminds me of my youth when a classmate had a Kodak's Ace 100 engine in a Honda trail 50. Front wheel lifted easy with every shift. It was a great conversion.
It's hard now to imagine how well carburated these little air cooled two strokes were at the time. They really were the epitome of high pitched "scream" machines.
Craig you're quite correct in saying theyre not jobs, they're challenges and opportunities to demonstrate your collective thoughts and engineering prowess. 😁
Yes Craig it's a great project and I am very sure that you have the skills to sort it out .all the very best Jono. Have fun with it.and I will be watching.
I dig this kind of project hale yes! hayabusa engine in a 600 like! . . make sure that countershaft sprocket is at the right height to reach the rear sprocket with no friction and your exhaust port is dialed in for the pipe to mount, I know you know this stuff but I couldn't think of anything else to post that makes me sound smart, lofl . . .
What a cracking little project requiring great thought & constraints. I wonder if that top brace will have to move further up... That exhaust chamber looked real close to the front mudguard straight on...I wonder if it will mash into it at mid left turn full compression? Challenges Crag, just challenges.
I rode an yz 80 once Blew my bloody socks off the young lad that owned it went shooting off the top of a high jump and broke both his young legs aaawwww poor lad so much pain Mine wasn’t as bad I flew up a jump in my DT 125 flew over the top of a dune buggy inappropriately placed by a knob ead geez my ankles wow bottomed the suspension lol
Plenty of restored Rm80s in U.S. so what the heck. Put a chain on it obvs. Biggest issue probably Exhaust/tank/mudguard interface. A short extension of the pipe at the barrel end could move the fat part away/forward of the tank. I don't like that front guard at all so clearance at the pipe could be a good excuse to change it for something slimmer.😁
@CushtyCrow l'm not from the U.S. My point was their 'mini bike' series was massive so there's plenty of donor bikes, spares and old stock. The frames are probably the most plentiful parts left of the bikes so in this case little need to be 'precious' about modifying one.

That thing is gonna be an absolute weapon! No need to worry about the front end either as it won't ever be on the ground.

My brother and I did something close to that back in the 60's. We took a CL 160 frame and put a 305 engine in it. It was a beast! lol
Engine swaps are always fun!
Not always!!

Loving this already ,Craig. All the best.
Sweet - might be an argument for a longer swinging arm mind!
It’s going to be a hoot boys.

Last of the Mohicans , aka " Shite in the Bucket " , lol Good man Crag!

Good morning Craig you can do it it will be fast bike m8
Something different but I can’t put my finger on it!
🤣
Good morning all 😂
Good morning your Lordship, hope all is well in your kingdom

Will the new cross tube clear the wheel/tire at full compression ?
That was a Hodaka engine. Darn spell check.
First thing I notice is that the Enfield is no longer on the lift. Does this mean we’ll see a start up soon? Cheers from the colonies

Why was that crossmember bent in the first place?
By design
To accommodate the wheel/mudguard?...
I love it
Wouldn't be a problem when I were fifteen.
Craig, what’s happened to ya barnet 😉
Kents
What is it with English RMs and black seats? Mine were blue and so were my pals
Makes no difference, if you come off, you’re gonna be black and blue 😅

Another obnoxious yank. These were enjoyed by most of the world, not just the US. There’s no need to be snotty over a Japanese bike!

Blue is looking so well and healthy today
