Picked one up recently and was well impressed with the results on a band practice... Hadn't seen videos saying to use drum compression mode so will try that next week
Actually, there are 4 mic capsules, 2 in an M/S configuration in the front, and 2 comprising the X/Y configuration in the rear. In a computer, you can parse the M/S recording out into Left/Center/Right in a few steps.
I really enjoyed your review. Great choice of artists, I would like to hear them more. My only observation is that the sound is thin compared with close miking the guitar and the excellent vocals demonstrated here. I've been using the H1s for ages and have never been disappointed with my live recordings, but the H2N adds the extra dimension.
Heya, Thanks again for a yet another great video! I was wondering whether you, or any of the other viewers, could answer the following question: Which handheld recorder would be best if you wanted to record nature (birds/rain/water/footsteps/animals) sounds, without having to invest in a blimp mic + portable recording unit. Cheers, Guido
***** Hi, I'd probably go ZOOM H5 and get a couple of the other optional mic capsules, all you need is pretty much right there. The H5 mic capsules are a newer/better design. Paul
What am I doing wrong here ? . I record a file and it plays back immediately no problem, can be heard with or without earphones. Switch off. Switch back on . Attempt to playback. Go to Menu. then FILE MENU. , then FOLDER, then FILE. select audio file , press PLAY button in. N0 audio file plays - I get a screen which lists - INFORMATION, NORMALIZE, MARK LIST, STEREO ENCODE, DELETE, DELETE ALL, I have wasted hours trying to solve this problem. Also playback volume is set at 100 but can barely hear it without head phones. HELP !!!
wich is the front part? i mean: the zom h2n is gonna be on my camera. i don't know what side had to be in front, the display part or the other side?sorry for my english.
Do not buy this device ... it is totally unusable for professional use. Every contact sound, even if you hang it in rubber bands, you will hear in your recording. Suppose you put your recorder on pieces of foam rubber and stuff some cotton and you connect your headphones, then every contact with the cable is a drum burst in your recording. It is incomprehensible that no one complains about this in all reviews from professionals. So you can only use it on a tripod without headphones and no one walking on the floor. So don't put it on a table. What works well is connecting an external mic in the line-in and switching off all Zoom mics. Good luck not buying this device. Oh yes, I have the Tascam DR4 and the ZoomH6, they don't have this problem.
Think this might just be your unit, or you have it set up wrong. I heard two other people say this, one was the the unit was faulty, it happens from time to time, the other was that the person had the side recorders on and the gain way too high
@@itsabadbadbadmovie4457 Then the device is not good or broken indeed. The fact that you know people whose device is broken and does not work well says a lot. I do not even know anyone in my area who has an H2N let alone a broken one. In any case, it is not an advertisement for Zoom. But I am going to sell it second hand on internet and tell what is wrong.

I believe there are five because you can record all five in spacial
It is five with four types. But you are right about using the M/S

Great video. This littles things seems really interesting who's only using 4-Tracks xD
Where is it best to keep the mic on yourself when you're doing POV recording using Binaural sound headphones?
Great band

You can hear a constant hiss.. maybe cause of the post production limiter
How about if i need for a band of conference and i keep it in the middle can it pick up everythin?
Hey stick how is your back btw? Did you recover well?

M/S goes to the front, X/Y in the rear. When mounted on your camera, set the LCD to face you (behind the camera) and you're set
