    As a single female who car camps solo all over the place in Colorado, I appreciated you being honest about how intimidating it can be out there alone sometimes...I feel so silly getting the heebiejeebies as soon as it's dark out so it's nice to know it happens to experienced dudes too and I'm not just being a wimp! lol

      Nothing wimpy about being in the food chain and understanding you're not on top of it.

      I am 61 years old and done this my whole life. I am alone most of the time and yes it can be a little hair raising hearing crashing in the woods in the middle of the night but that's just part of it. No shame in it so good on you for getting out there.

      I did my first solo camp in a Subaru. Must say I was a bit freaked out myself the first time, and even every now and then. My biggest fear is breaking down or getting stuck like that white SUV.

      Not crazy at all, I’m 52 and I get the jitters sometimes too.

      Nah, i don't agree...as we closer to winter....sprinter with insulation wall inside more comfort to him....we all want to see his best content everytime right? So more safety and comfort is priority for him...and it's all in his custom sprinter...

    I was on the edge of my seat as you negotiated the undulations. That was some skillful driving there Chad...well done. As far as camping in bear country I am more fearful of "camping" in some urban settings as I travel cross country.

  • @earthangel8730
    @earthangel8730 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    As a gal backpacker for decades I've never had any issue with bears. I keep clean, keep a meticulous campsite and have nothing in my small tent that is food, or has any fragrance (lotion, toothpaste, soap). everything gets packed in a proper sack and hung over a tree branch at night or when I'm away from camp, hiking or swimming. I rarely start a fire (unecessary except in an emergency) and use a small backpacking stove only. I also don't forage the hell out of my surroundings as the mushrooms and berries are food that is rightly THE BEAR'S!Being meticulous is key and the right thing to do!

    The "silence" or to say it other way, just the sounds of nature around you while splitting the wood...that's ASMR for my ears man.

    Chad, I think this is your best video yet. Lots of different varying content. I liked the inclusion of wildlife and nature with the way the landscape was formed with avalanches. The music was very fitting and also very good to listen to. Who needs Pixar, Spielberg etc. This is just like a movie.I was glad to see you eating a bit more healthily with your quinoa and turmeric, have you been taking advice off Dr Micheal Greger ? And not an Italian Sausage to be seen !

    Try clear lake at silverton, colorado, at 11940 ft. I was there with 2017 sprinter 144 4x4, factory tires. A lot of loose rocks, switchbacks, up and down, and one ditch at the switchback made it almost tip over, like yours. Sprinter low range setting was a miracle, as long as you have the clearance, it will go places, not as a Wranger rock climbing but almost everywhere. I have AT tires now. My only tip for my high roof sprinter off road camper van is to reduce the gravity as much as you can, and unload all junks as much as you can, to lower its weight, then you'll have a capable penthouse overlander to help you enjoy the world.

      @@jonhunter8737 im from Scotland and we have the same loons talking about a monster in Loch Ness. I'm more about what I see is what I believe, but then why do so many people believe in a God ? Just shows you that there are many millions of intelligent people out there that believe in lots of nonsense.

    • @jonhunter8737
      @jonhunter8737 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@frankiez7414 It's not all nonsense though. The amount of evidence for Sasquatch in countries across the globe, not just North America, is massive. Including DNA studies of hair samples. To call people loons is a bit harsh, especially if they have experienced something very much at odds with what we are taught in schools and universities. Did they ask for those experiences? Did they want them? Yet, they have to then live a life of hiding that, for fear of ridicule, or actually face ridicule if they do share their experiences, often from family members, that given any other topic, would accept the word of that person unequivocally. So, are they liars? Did they wake up and think, 'what kind of crazy shit can I come up with today, that will leave me a laughing stock and the town idiot if I talk about it?' Not particularly logical is it? Or perhaps, there are things we have evidence for, but are being supressed? Years ago, UFO were for lunatics. Yet, we now have the US finally admitting and releasing videos and documents that show these things are real.

    A Silky doesn't use any gas either, or electricity. I used mine to clear a way out after some serious hurricane damage in the Nova Scotia bush. A Katananoy 650 will outperform most chainsaws, in fact all chainsaws you would see in a van, and takes a fraction of the space and weight. A Katananoy 1000 would compete with professional forestry chainsaws.

    This is why you need a dirt bike Chad! Then you can take all your filming stuff and hop on the bike and be up there to see the Sun rise! Instead of your MTB, replace with a small dirt bike on the hitch. Thank you for taking me along!! Well done Amigo!!

    Amazing videography.
    You made me feel like an eagle, soaring through and around the mountains at sunset and the water fall/feature .
    Dinner looked yummy too!

    Your way over talking about the bears and other animals at night. 99% is in your head. I’ve camp out over 50 year’s in the Colorado mountains. They don’t want u. They want your trash if u don’t keep a clean camp

    Another great video!
    Did you film before Moab or after?
    I scrubbed thru your videos but didn’t find them anywhere, what clips are you using for the axe and hatchet on your back doors? Considering doing the same or similar.

    There is another TH-cam channel that I watch, SUV RVing, that includes GPS coordinates for several interesting locations visited during the video. I wish you would do that in your videos.

    Why would you wait until dark to cook your dinner? I would eat before dusk. Then, have some Bourbon by the fire (with a hand cannon close by). I would make sure no remnant of food smell would be left. Having a high powered (concentrated) beam of light on hand to illuminate any noises in the distance would be handy.

    There are just as many bears in Calif, WA, and other states you have cooked up a feast. Just because you saw a BLACK BEAR doesn’t mean your chicken breast and quinoa is cause a bear attack.

    Before we sold our house for full-time RV life, our house in Michigan was built in 1895. Standing strong!

    Great video. Looked like Lincoln Creek Rd. Hope you stopped at the town of Independence just past there before the pass. Not much left of it but some folks from the Aspen Historical Society were trying to preserve what is left of it.
