I remember reading somewhere that the Super Aguri F1 team ran almost the entire 2006 season without using traction control... That's probably why he's getting so much wheelspin and oversteer out of the corners.
To be fair, he's driving in relatively difficult conditions. The first part of the track is drying, but still kinda wet, the second part of the track is bone dry, and the final sector is still quite wet. Plus, he is on intermediate/wet tyres. You can actually see him drive a bit faster in the last sector compared to the first two sectors. Plus, that Super Aguri handled like a TRUCK.
It doesn’t explain why Sato was much, much, MUCH faster than him in the same car. And had the 107% rule been around, he’d have started 0 Grands Prix rather than 4.
@@RBenjo21 When Aguri Suzuki established the Super Aguri F1 team, she had Takuma Sato use the machine she received from Stoddart, but Yuji Ide used the machine that had been left outdoors for three years.I hear that it was a miracle that the machine was in motion, and it was obvious that there was a problem with the machine itself. I heard that Montagny, a later driver, refused the machine Iide was using and used the machine for development testing. I'm sorry for my poor English.
He must’ve gotten bashed a lot on other drivers’ team radios. Imagine qualifying a hot lap at the end of qualifying just to end up behind him. He’s the reason why they knock out slow drivers
I'm not saying that he wasn't a bad driver but tbf to him in this video we can see that the conditions weren't easy there and I think that he also had a problem 'cause his steering wheel wasn't straight
Did you see how he was struggling in the straight? He's not confident at all, he probably didn't wanna crash (something that he did while trying to push later on, if you remember)
Because his car condition was too horrible condition. The chassis of SA05 was diversion of 2003 Arrows A23 and was exposed in rain for years. In fact, the car do not have steering center in this video. If he got A NORMAL car, he could drive very well.
Giuliano raghunathan was 4-6 seconds off on most tracks but ide was 7-9 seconds off (lets not count the pay drivers of the 80s who were 15-30 seconds off)
He probably wasn't as bad a driver as he ended up looking in his short F1 career. He was thrown into a brand new team that was using a 4 year old car having never driven an F1 car before having done no real testing before the first race & had never driven on any of the circuits. Given how he'd been competitive in Japan in Super GT & what is now Super Formula had he had more testing time in an F1 car before the start of the seaon he likely would have been better than he was.

Lift and coast driving on a damp track in FP3. KingZaySmitty. 24 the '92 andrea moda was horrific, yes. the 2006 super aguri was about 4/5 seconds off the pace whilst that andrea moda was 8 seconds off the pce

This is basically the Arrows chasis from 2002 rebuilt for 2006 rules. The Super Aguri team was created at the end of 2005. Impressive job by them.
Not so impressive job by the driver, what a bust he was.
The only reason this team existed was to keep Sato on the grid. It was never a constructor.
