+CraftyClaws The new gens can still be annoying as all hell to hunt in. It took over 8,000 encounters for me to get a shiny Swadloon in FS. Need to agree with you, though, that theress more pride in hunting in older generations.
Be warned when it comes to SRing legends, though. It took over 11,000 (as I stopped counting then) for Dialga in Platinum.

Funny shiny story: around a year ago, my brother walked into my room, "Kiki, there's something wrong with my game," so being the nice sister I was I took his DS. There was a shiny red striped Basculin, my brother didn't understand my reaction until I explained. We caught it. fast forward some months and he wants to reset his game, I had completely forgotten the shiny was on the file. Then I remembered and told him.
...We don't say shiny in our house anymore.

I thought that female Hippowdon was a shiny but it was a trainer battle. I wasn't paying attention when it was sent out so I didn't see the lack of shine and the volume was down as well.

Oh, so they changed the ridiculous rules from RBE and DPP then.
Veress アンデ Pretty much. On any fishing tile there is a 5% chance to reel in a Feebas. However during the day there is a 100% chance under the bridge, and at night there is a 100% chance around the rock by the shore. It becomes more a battle of attrition to get a shiny Feebas than one of luck when you use Chain Fishing.

I found three shinies throughout the past twelve years of playing Pokemon. The first was a blue Electrike. Not knowing how special it was at the time, I ended up deleting the save file that had it. The second was a golden Hoothoot. The problem was, I encountered it as my first encounter after leaving Twinleaf town and thus, I didn't have any Pokeballs and was force to knock it out. The third was in my most recent playthrough of Fire Red. I found a shiny Mankey. But it wasn't just a shiny Mankey. It was a shiny, adamant nature Mankey.
On top of that, the best shiny encounter I have ever seen had to be by a speedrunner named Werster. In one of his Emerald runs he got to the point where Wally catches a Ralts. The Ralts was a shiny.

My first shiny I encountered was when I was 6 or 7, in FireRed near the southern ruins on Six Island (btw, Six Island is further than Seven Island for some reason). It was a Psyduck. When I tried telling everyone, I called it a blue Psyduck because I was foreign to the concept of "shiny", and everyone dismissed it thinking I was talking about a Golduck... Sadness galore.
My first caught shiny was in Diamond in the route near Pal Park. It was a Skuntank.
One of my friends got a shiny Regice and he didn't even notice it was shiny at first because the shiny variant looks so similar to how it normally looks.

My favorite shiny story I have happened on my first Firered full playthrough. I was at my friend's house playing it, trying to find a pikachu in Viridian Forest. After about an hour, I looked to my friend and said " At this rate, I'll find a shiny before I find a pikachu!" About 10 minutes later, shiny weedle. I used that thing for the whole game it was actually pretty good!

My first shiny was Poliwag... it was so fun how did I enconuter it... I wanter for a shiny ditto, but in the first grass a horde appeared, and there was a Shiny Poliwag, I was freaking out pretty much, it was even hard to inhalate for me.
I was shaking a lot, but I knew how to handle that, doing everything careful. at the end I evolved it into Poliwrath, and traded it for a Deoxys.
Also I got a shiny Frogadier and Foongus, I've got they both on the same day, but it was pretty late so I had to limitate my reaction to a simple "wow, shiny, shiny, shiny, yes!" I had false swipe when I've catched they both so it wasn't a problem for me.
I'm plaining to catch a Shiny Trevenant, but it will maybe be another Foongus.

I found the best thing ever. So here is the story: I told my friend I had a team full of megas in Oras, so we did a Soul Link in X and Y without any Megas, but then I found a Shiny Absol ... and I just flipped.

My first shiny was a Chingling. I traded it so I could get a valuable Pokémon. I was stupid enough to be like, "Oh cool, a Ditto!" because I didn't realize how rare shines were. I later figured out that what I got was a SHINY Ditto, and then I realized that I was lucky to get away with a really stupid decision.

It's easier to find Shiny Pokemon in the Friend Safari. The encounter rate is doubled.

KevinJ made me remember how intense the battles in Gen 5 are.
My first Shiny was in Pokèmon Pearl, just outsode the volcano. A Female Golbat that I named Tetra, who is lost to the ether since I no longer have the save (Corrupted Data from AR codes. Note: Never try to leave the Park where your pokemon follows you via walkthrough walls, breaks shit completely) My second was my first shiny fail. I was hunting Beldums in a Sandstorm, when a spot of grass sparkled. Naturally, I was like, "No way." Lo and behold, a shiny, golden Beldum in all its golry floated before me. This was a scary time for me, as I wasnt expecting a rare find, and was actually quite low on balls, so knowing that His only move was Take Down, I started spamming everything I had. I tried Sleep Tapping, the tried and trued method of spamming buttons while not looking at the screen, nothing worked. I was at school during this time, so I had to mask my nervousness. I also didn't save right before the fight (Brilliant, I know), So I only had 1 shot. I spent 2 hours deliberating every move in that fight, trying to make the most of every throw. Nothing. Finally, after several dozen failed attempts, He killed himself with Struggle. I was Heartbroken. All I could do is close my DS Lite and sob. I had wasted so much time, and for what? Nothing. I didn't open up the game for 2 weeks after that. I look back on it fondly, because that battle truly encompassed what it meant to be a Trainer to me. Fighting side-by-side Your Pokèmon, struggling against adverse weather, to capture that Prize, only to have it slip through your fingers and become lost. My next shiny was actually during my first attempt at Fishing in Pokèmon Moon. It was, as you can guess, a common Magikarp, but with the catch that it was Golden, with that familiar sparkle. My First Catch! I was overjoyed! I love fishing in games, and to me this was the Epitome of what it meant to be a fisherman, A Shiny Magikarp on the First time swing a rod. I named her Ruby, and she is a part of My permanent team, as I usually always have a Gyarados on them. It was a real sense of accomplishment, each and every time I found a Shiny, because each time was a separate experience, each with their own lessons, struggles, and memories. I doubt I will come across any Natural Shinies before I finish My Dex, but the dream is there. Thanks For Listening to my little Storytime, Stay Frosty Mates!

I've been playing Pokemon for like 17 years maybe and have yet to even find one on random encounter. Hell my first one was the shiny beldum mystery gift but now I'm up to about 20 shinnies all from trading in omega ruby. It's some bullshit lol

The only shinies I've found LEGIT is Bidoof and Fearow. I'm sad because both of those were random encounters.
