Spider man feels a lot more alive than Gotham knights, the animations in spider man are far cleaner, and something about Gotham knights graphics just looks off to me
To me it looks like he has sharpening turned off on GK, I have fidelityfx sharpening maxed out and it makes a world of difference.
Gotham Knights has a problem with asset loading, CPU and GPU utilization and raytracing. Often times you would see building textures pop in to the full res texture very obviously. and ray tracing is just unplayable currently, even on PC. But otherwise, the lighting and atmosphere is actually incredible in the game.

This marvels spiderman game was so fun that my friend who hate spiderman movies actually played the game and enjoyed it. If you are spiderman fan, you will understand that this game is the first to make you feel like the real hero in the game. It gets a little repetitive in some side missions but main story line and the action make you watch and play the game like a damn movie. Every suite is unique and comes with its own effects. I love Andrew Garfield's spiderman suit in the game. I don't think I am going to bother going for this GK until I see some proper walkthrough that is interesting.
I think the thing hanging people up on the combat in gk is when you dodge you just do a simple basic animation. even though you only dodge in Spiderman as well, the animations vary widely depending on the situation.
There are upgrades that give you enhanced combo style dodging that can be timed for added effectiveness or even a blast at the end of a long evasion combo knocking enemies down. So there is some variety there. The thing with GK is that the characters actually do play noticably differently the more upgrades you get, along with the much better traversal method each character gets when you reach Knighthood with each of them, it’s just the base combat people are feeling when they fire up the game.
Every character has multiple dodge animations and robins are basically a carbon copy of the Spider-Man dodge animations. The reason people don’t like it is because it’s not Arkham.

@@emmyjr1231 I’ve played both games more times than your father has looked you in the eye kid, I know what I’m talking about, and GT has literally almost 4times the dodge animations.
well GK have more character with different animation in total. while Spiderman you only play as Spiderman indeed its need to have more variation of animation

Imagine if GK was like spiderman 😂 like even at night in spiderman it’s a lot of people out an it’s crimes happening unlike with GK.

i feel that the parkour should be wayy faster for nightwing in the comics he jumps across rooftops really far like nightwing did and did flips and stuff
Spider-Man was basically a more fast paced Arkham Knight that can be in daytime as well, ofc it's a fair comparison lol

Gotham Knights looks and plays more like Spider-man than its Arkham predecessors.
The combat though... Not.
Spiderman and Arkham predecessor both play the same, especially the fluid and impactful combat whereas Gotham combat feels floaty and less impactful like when the game first tease the combat

At this point Gotham knights is underrated, granted insomniac Spider-Man and Arkham are the goats of hero games but Gotham knights in my opinion is also very good
It would be really cool to have a Spider-Cycle in Marvel's Spider-man 2 ,like in the Ultimate Spider-Man Animated series

I'm playing Spider-Man for ps4 right now and the combat for Gotham Knights looks slow and clunky to me, but the combat for Spider-Man is awesome and it flows really well.
Flow, is very important for the superhero genre. Both Spider-Man and Arkham did that phenomenally.

Gotham Knights wants to be multiple things at the same time and nails neither. Spider-Man does it’s own thing and stands out on its own.
People in the comments are letting their fanboy pants get in the way of the comparision. For me I thought both the games looks amazing.

that's because spiderman runs smoother in terms of fps... if turn off vsync can easily hit above 100+ fps with rtx3060ti ... gotham knights framerate stuck at 50-60fps and slightly grainy...when in open world it drops to 20-30fps

Gk doesn’t feel that fluid when it comes to combat and it feels like when you run into doorways or an obstacle you’re stuck to it but I am enjoying GK regardless of its flaws overall though SM and Miles as well are such great games incredible stories can’t wait for SM2

GK has better combat and way better stealth but Spider-Man has better traversal and overall cohesiveness. Spider-Man is more triple A than any WB Montreal game, they have a larger team and bigger audience with higher expectations.
I feel like GK has so limited combat options for the 4 characters though. You ever saw one of those Spiderman trick videos where people pull off entire skill tree moves and gadgets just to ko one guy? That's options to you.

I'm playing these simultaneously at the moment and honestly I feel that each lacks what the other does not. The story, worldbuilding and general design in Spiderman is shoddy at best, whereas Gotham feels more alive even at night (I seriously love what they did with the city - if only the traversal highlighted the design!). The gameplay in Gotham Knights however - although far better than I expected - still feels lackluster, especially in comparison to Spiderman's swinging and agile combat. Despite having four playable heroes it still lacks variety. Except for when it comes to crimes, in which I prefer Gotham Knights' system. Putting both of them side by side has me wishing for a crossover. Quite frankly, even though it came out seven whole years ago now, Arkham Knight surpasses both in all aforementioned aspects. Hell, even in terms of visuals (which is insane).
It didn't pay anything to the "top" reviewers hence the hate trend which is unfortunately and obviously (like people do) most of the people following. I didn't play it yet but two of my friends did one said about the same thing as you and the other one played for 12 constant hours.

The Batman series has no reason why it wouldn’t allow you to SWING with the grapple hook around others etc.
Not exactly like Spider-Man but they 100% could have had some way cooler movement acrobatic and grapple swinging than just going in straight lines.
Gameplay is fun when it gives the player control and skills to develop. Abilities that just have no control where you press one button and it just takes you to where you aimed has no skill or feeling or gameplay mechanic worth doing for the player. There’s zero thrill to it. There’s no risk of failure or swinging badly etc. completely joyless gameplay.
I don’t know why they think they can’t do grapple hook swinging in a Batman game? He doesn’t have several webs like Spider-Man so he wouldn’t be zipping two grappling hooks, but he should be able to do one and swing crashing though glass windows to take down enemies. Or swing with his badass cape out in the wind.
Would have been perfect for Batman games.
Hell even Harley Quinn in the suicide squad games they realize “why not just let her grapple swing like Spider-Man, it’s cool and fun” 😂🤦🏻♂️
Developers need to remember games are about FUN! First and foremost nothing else. If it isn’t fun then nothing else in the game matters.
Just go play "Batman: Arkham Knight" if you want to play a good DC superhero game.
Or play any Arkham games as well as Spider Man
I hope they update Gotham Knights to 60 fps, The Witcher 3 did it and its a huge improvement.
playstation has limitation graphics but their exclusive games are top notch.. GOW, spiderman, uncharted etc

I just completed Spiderman remastered yesterday. Haven't played GK but will not play if for sure. It looks dull to me and side missions of SP is way better than any game I played.
