  • I start the removal of the tendem power steering pump off of my CL55. This pump feeds the hydraulic suspension as well as the power steering. Since i have deleted the hydraulic suspension, i no longer need this leaky pump. I will replace this with a power steering only pump and remove all the useless hoses and dampers from the car. this process will be in parts. enjoy!

    Just did this job last weekend, after previously watching this video. Bit of a tight squeeze but nothing too bad, having the right tools definitely helps.

    Thank you BMAN, I finally got my pump out. When I make my video I will definitely reference these videos. That 8mm bolt on that bracket is a bugger! The most important tip INMO was getting a 22 flare wrench!!!!

    4:50 the trick is to get a skinny long 12mm wrench that has one of those circular automatic socket at the end of it. This was a pain

    Couldn't you just plug the ports on the tandem part of the pump? Also, it's 2024, how's the car doing?

    Hey great video. I have a couple questions. I went the same route but I kept my tandump pump by any chance would you know if I have to add power steering fluid just for the power pump or also add to the hydraulic side. I capped off the hydraulic lines. Idk if I should go the same way you did. Or stay the way I went. Reason why I’m asking is because just last night my car been whining . I added more fluid but the whining is still there. Idk if I have a misalignment or if my pulleys are bad. I haven’t went down there and checked.

    • @bmancars3237
      @bmancars3237  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      main reason i did it this way was because my pump was a major source of leak, also there will be just extra work for the tandem pump by circulating the fluid. the whining could be due to some of the hoses not having enough fluid or it just needs to be driven a bit. check for leaks as well. Im happy with my setup because for about $150 i got the car running more efficiently and its lighter as well. just go with whatever works for you.

      BMAN CARS thanks for the feed back. I haven’t really been driving since I heard the noise. I’m checking out some forums . It may be a bad pump now. Maybe I should drive it couple of times but damn it’s loud haha. But truth to be told I never heard the noise. When I looked at the reservoir it has really low fluid. Maybe that messed up the pump? Can I sent you a video and tell me what you think? If it’s a bad pump I’ll just order a s500 pump it looks exactly like the one you got. Thanks for responding

    I have a 2002 cl55 AMG all of the hydraulic fluid is leaking out I was driving the car next thing I heard a noise and fluid came back on the windshield is that the pump or is just a hose that broke

    • @bmancars3237
      @bmancars3237  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could bring the pump...hopefully nothing major. Clean the area with some break parts cleaner and start the engine with the ac full blast and see if you can spot a leak. Let it get to temperature then look around.

      hard to say...i would guess hose, but really clean the areas with brake parts cleaner then start the car and see if you can spot any leaks after a few mins.

      I made a part 2 of this video. Check that out too. It explains where I got the part. Its the e500 or e350 powersteering pump from 2004 models. I got it from ebay. Just make sure to get the one with the triangle shaped bracket already installed. Very important.
