    For everyone inquiring about why we kept the larger catfish, these are an invasive species in these waters and were introduced illegally around 15 years ago. The population has exploded and they are causing a decline in native species populations 👍....Thanks for watching!!

    • @kmontrose888
      @kmontrose888 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So what do you do with them that's what I want to know? Do you just kill them? And what kind of catfish was it I thought it was a big blue and if so are you saying the blue catfish are the ones that are invasive?

    • @GunnFishTV
      @GunnFishTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kmontrose888 we ate them of course. We use the larger ones in a catfish muddle (basically a stew). Yes they are blue catfish and they are invasive to this body of water. Only channel catfish and bullhead catfish are native to this river

The old timers in south alabama always told me to either use cypress limbs or don’t use them because they will break. Now I got to double check when I go to the river this summer before I go running limb lines with my 2 little rascals lol! Awesome fishing tho bud with baby go to with ya! Love how she said “ I got to call momma! I got to call momma!” She was so pumped and excited bout that big cat! This is the type of fishing like bream fishing that is super fun and excited to get the youngins into fishing and always wanting to go back and fish and learn from daddy! Kudos to your fathering also getting her on the front of the boat not scared at all to grab them limb lines and pull those big cats In the boat! I’d be one proud dad that day for sure bro! you should never keep those huge blues, they're too tough to eat, just a selfish waste of a beautiful fish.

      We put it in a catfish muddle so it definitely got eaten. Also these are invasive in this river system

      @@GunnFishTV Sounds delicious, I'm just a stickler for harvesting large Blue Cat...they can reach 150 + lbs if allowed to mature: the one you harvested would have been somewhere around 15 years old: that's a lot of life spent dodging fishermen.

    I stopped youre vid afther 4.16 min . If you take the small ones home to eat I realy dont care. If everyone take his fishes home there will be no big ones annymore to fish on. PLEASE put the big ones back in the water, and take as much small ones as you can. You must know a lot of hobby fischermen would like to catch a big one as youre first one in youre vid. so please think about other people. I was a bit shockt to see that big catfish in youre cooler . I give you a fat thumb down !!!!!!! you dont give about other people !!

      They are an invasive species here, they are eating all of our native fish. The more we catch out of the river the better chance we have at keeping our native fish. Limb lines and noodles are about the best way to catch them around here. On a good day/night you can catch anywhere from 100-500 blue cats anywhere from 1-125lbs., my personal best is 112lbs.
