Easily one of the best rear load gopro videos ever taken. I’m impressed with how well built that McNeilus is; after 10+ years of municipal service that packer still moves lightening fast. Tacoma must have taken pretty good care of it. def looking forward to part 2!
trashmonster26 thanks man, it’s almost 20 years old. Tacoma actually hated this truck and mostly destroyed it. Took a lot to bring it back to where it is now and it still has some issues to work out but that’s about it now
Believe it or not, this blade is actually slowed down for safety reasons. McNeilus blades are super fast. We had one at Curbside that was scary fast. You had to be sure to be absolutely clear of it when it cycled because of it's speed.
Outstanding video! This is the perfect angle! You are a pro at operating, I love the way you cycle the packer, with opening the last bit of the blade towards the end of the cycle. You waste no time! McNeilus is really on point with their rear loaders. They may not pack quite at well as a Leach or something like that, but with such a fast pack cycle, they are hard to beat. I really enjoyed this one! Can’t wait for more! Keep it up!
Garbage industry productions thanks, I run the packer like that since often times as the blade comes down trash slides down and pushes everything out of the hopper so running it like that keeping the sweep at the height of the trash throughout the pack cycle helps to reduce that problem. Surprisingly McNeilus RLs pack a ton, they really let you manipulate the packer do you can really get every last inch of space on the truck. Really glad you enjoyed this one
Awesome video! You have such a satisfying job haha I loved watching the blade come close to the dumpster and the water sloshing around when you where driving haha, it was cool wow most all the dumpsters towards the beginning had yard waste in them. And it’s so awesome you get to be in a different truck every day! Can’t wait to see more of these POV/ GoPro vids from you!
I'm a garbage thrower so I have alot of time riding on the back starting at the garbage juice sloshing back and forth and to some drivers behind us probably looks like I can't take my eyes off the garbage in the hopper but it's just the easiest place to.look and you get use to the smell pretty quickly
I like any type of rear blade compactor. Most are based on the same principle push blade out over top of rubbish scoop down and in and up. They also can pack a wide variety of garbage without much trouble, if any! :D
Never before have I been exposed to so much kickbar action... and I bloody loved it :D Awesome POV showing us the action from the hopper end, the stuff that is more often than not unseen, just great to see another camera angle of a rear loader in general, not a common setup spot. Always enjoyed watching these McNeilus blades in action, they have that kind of rapidness, makes for some swift hopper clearances. Wasn't sure if I was going to see any carts getting tipped at first, but they came into the video later on, seems like a dumpster dominated route but! Love the abundance of steel bins for the RLs over your way, it's almost extinct here in Oz, wish it was still around with the kickbars... just look at the potential productivity, the Rubatino boys show it off especially haha Looked to me like some self-shielding at 8:09, bet you weren't too trusting with the sound of those busting bags lol Spotted a lift where you didn't flip the lids - proved open lids helps with the discharge a lot, no shit gets caught on the edge for one. Awesome stuff, well done on the job variety too, covering a bit of everything ;)
AussieGarbo thank you for the comment! Nice to see someone actually point out all the stuff I was hoping would be noticed lol even found the 2 carts in the video haha yes I was shielding myself, had close calls 1 too many times to trust anything. Really glad you enjoyed this one
Man you are quick bro! Definitely one of the most entertaining commercial RL videos I've seen. Blade seems to move extremely fast which really keeps things entertaining. Feel like McNeilus has quick packer cycles in general, at least on the few RLs I've watched.Terrific angle too, I really like how the video came out. Awesome job!
Awesome angle and video quality ! Everytime I watch those videos, I'm hopping to see women's underwear popping out of a bag or a fashion magazine mixed with the rest of the trash !
Great video. You do a good job on RL. Looks like they could use a dumpster for YardWaste in some areas. At 11:50 were you collecting a missed resi stop? What is your opinion on RL vs SL?
Trash Man Daniel thanks man, I’ve had years and years of practice with mcneilus RLs lol unfortunately we don’t offer yard waste dumpsters, only carts. This time of year a lot of apartment complexes fill their dumpsters with leaves. The rest of the year you’ll hardly see any yard waste. Personally, I enjoy rear load a lot more but side load is way easier on the body. Both have their pros and cons so I’m not sure I could say I prefer 1 vs the other
West Coast Refuse Trucks manual collection can look fun at times, but I understand it will took a toll on your body. SL is also fun to watch and operate. I just like getting everyone's opion for when in older. In 7 years when I'm 18 I think I could get a job at republic for sometime as the pay is pretty good.
Trash Man Daniel manual collection isn’t too bad, same with semi auto, but moving dumpsters around all day like this is pretty rough if you don’t do it properly (like I unfortunately did while filming this). Ultimately there’s ups and downs to every method of collection. And I forgot to answer your question, that one stop is a commercial stop that has carts before going into the apartment complex that was right after that stop
TheNVTrashMan thanks! I’ve been posting GoPro videos for a bit now of stuff I’ve driven. I dont have a set truck so I’m in pretty much everything and anything. It’s nice to get some variety

Curbside seemed scary overall. I guess being around Pak-Mors all the time got me used to slow blades.

@@westcoastrefusetrucks how does the water/trash juice get removed
The garbage juice slowely leaks out or what doesn't comes out at the landfill when you dump it
