So there's been a bunch of comments about my criticism of Obsidian. I love Obsidian. I really do. And while Bethesda DID impose the 18 month timeframe for NV development, in the end, Obsidian signed the contract, and agreed to it. So they THOUGHT they could do it all in time, and clearly, they bit off more than they could chew. They were allowed to use a bunch of resources from Fallout 3 to make development faster and easier, and still produced a banger of a game, I'm just disappointed it didn't live up to the epic concepts they had.
Even the lead developer at Obsidian said they spent too long getting familiar with the code, they could have organised the work better and done more, AND they should have play tested it more before release. This is from Obsidian themselves. But, as I said, still a great game, and a banging company. Only love here guys (and gals) 💜
In another world, obsidian was given the time to develop an even better F:NV. Ik TES V was right around the corner at the time but imagine what this game could’ve been if it had a couple more months to a year. Thank god we have mods and dlc to fill in where the vanilla game was lacking. All this being said, New Vegas is an easy 9/10 for me. Just finishing up my fifth play through (NCR).
The moral of the story is.... It's a cult. Obsidian can do no wrong, and Bethesda can do no good. They will never be happy. Ignore them
@@Mephilis78no lol your boy was just wrong no need to be dramatic
how did they bite off more then they could chew? New vegas is possibly the best rpg of all time , theres so much stuff that takes into account the players actions its insane that theres that much depth and detail and they only made it in 18 months.
@@ForbiddenArchive my boy? Who?
The many limitations for Fallout New Vegas is due to the fact that Bethesda imposed a 18 month deadline for the development for the game. It is already an amazing feat they manage to make such a good game in only 18 months
Same excuse Obsidian uses for KOTOR 2. A pattern emerges.
@@Mephilis78i mean sure but that was also true, it doesnt make it a lie
I’ve heard it was Obsidian management who imposed the deadline rather than Bethesda.
don’t mention that here. he doesn’t believe in logic or actual human reasoning.
They need to stop that it's all about the money not about pride in making a finished product
From what I understood, there's so many massive changes you make at the end of NV, that accounting for all the impacts/differing factors in a post game NV was near impossible given the limited timespan/resources Obsidians was given. Saying that they likely couldn't come up with anything post game is really unfair
There shouldn't be a sequel, maybe a mobile spinoff that let's you play Fnvs "postgame" maybe you start by picking allegiance a small moral test. and a g.o.a.t, top down microtransorgaisms galore
The thing is they did try to get the post game to work but they just couldn’t make the map and game different enough to warrant using that much time on it
@@therealbfunke Can't wait to spend IRL money on virtual sarsaparilla
New Vegas not being open ended was fine. Never had a problem playing the game again
You started with Indiana jones and left out Billy? Wtf
There is a case, I think in Fort Hagan, where some synths stay idle until you’re right on top of them, so they look like nearby mannequins in the dark
Not Fort Hagen, but instead Warren Theater, near the Combat Zone. It has a synth inside hiding within a group of mannequins on the stage.
It's creepy.

the "fast food pink paste" was a myth, using a picture of tubby custard to represent the paste. there are certainly problems which exist with the fast food industry that need real discussion, but pink paste is not one of them.
Sounds like someone who is looking to cover up the pink paste theory would say
Big Pink Paste wants to shut us down..
It's a busted myth and people still think it's facts. Even after the videos of chickens at tyson farms. They're not making paste they're just pumping hormones into chickens to the point they can't move

Kind of giving false info here.
Baby Marie is in The Pitt DLC not Point Lookout, just FYI
The blue ghoul whale is probably just a misunderstanding of beluga whale. Since in fallout people spell things out as how they sound I.E. Big MT(mountain) being called Big Empty.
Oh that's hilarious and ingenious

Correction! Transistors do exist in the fallout universe. The fact that the EMPs or anyform of ElectroMagnetism works on electronics, as well as the existence of microelectronics, proves this. The infamous Platinum Chip wouldnt be possible without a transistor
Infact, transistors are mentioned a few times in the games themselves, first being mentioned in fallout tactics.
The earliest known in universe date we know of transistors being used, is September 5th 2023. When Jack Cabot used transistors to create the Abremalin Field Generator. Sourced via a ingame terminal.
The divergence, is that in the 50s-60s our vacuum tubes had a slow death. Being majorly replaced by transistors. Where as in fallout, the vaccuum tube never saw this death. Still being largely used all the way up till the bombs fell in 2077
This is super interesting! Thanks so much for the comment!
Btw. In real world, tube electronic would survive nuclear bomb emp, while transistors wouldn't. Transistor would be fried, so game probably realistically represents a lack of transistors in the post apocalyptic world
“Correction!” 🤓👆
the best correction in a long time
The amount of people I have to tell this too, and they always ignore it

Bro talked a lot of trash on obsidian. Like they didn’t make the game in 18 months. Which was their only option because Tod Howard has a weird money fetish
You mean the game they made with fulk assets, engine, help from Bethesda, and ideas stolen from Van Buren.
Face facts, they were self-admittedly bad at time management, Chris Avellone can't write stories, and theteam was a shadow of Black Isle, Bethesda had more OG Devs.
let me correct one thing about your comment. like they didnt make THE BEST FALLOUT GAME RELEASED THUS FAR. in a year and a half because todd howard has a weird money fetish 🤣
Hour and a half of fallout! Can’t wait to watch it!
Thanks Neko! ^^
Looks like you have frame blending/frame resampling on your camera, usually applied from an editing/recording software. Disable it to crispen the quality.
All fixed in my new videos ^^
Why is the algorithm doing you this dirty, all i watch are iceberg videos and video game essay stuff.. yet i had to go "hmm what about that connors-curiosities fella that talked about wendigoon" to even see you uploaded anything new, wasn't even on search page, had to go into your channel to see your new video
It's Big Fallout shadow banning me.. They don't want the truth to come out!
I guess everyone already knows that's why you didn't specify it in the video but the reason why the BioShock's reference mission is called "a slave obeys" is because the motto of BioShock is "a man chooses, a slave obeys", and is related to the big plot twist of the game (the best plot twist in any video game ever imo, but i'm biased since BioShock 1 is my favorite game ever, but still, fantastic story and plot twist)
Are there any entries or crazy theories I missed? Let me know, I'd love to hear them, this was super fun to do! 💜
feel like it should be noted I decided to like the video at "over cucumbered". After 15+ years of gaming I'm livid I never thought of that
I’ve gotten nearly all the way through this video and just realised, even two weeks after posting this vid only has a couple thousand views, which is mind boggling because your content is super well polished and edited, new follower for you and I hope you get the subs you deserve soon!
Content is definitely is definitely to a similar calibre of the other successful fallout TH-camrs
Thanks so much Jesper! These comments really mean a lot to me! I'm very glad you enjoyed!
Would you say the interplay x gerps relationship had a…. Falling out 🥁🥁tss
I don't get dissing Obsidian so much. I don't think they gave themselves time constraints, yet they still made the best game in the series. (I haven't played the first two all the way through yet)
They didn't. Todd Coward and Bethesda gave them time restraints.
Loved the Eddie Izzard reference!
I like to think its just what THIS place calls jet, its like that in the substance culture also that if 2 stoners from UK and USA have similar but wildly different lingos
Very good point.
Hear me out….we need an iceberg about icebergs 🤯
Wow the new plague protocols sound familiar
yes they confirmed the vault
boy theory in the show 😁😁
Just totally missing the meaning behind the Gojira reference. Gojira is the proper spelling of Godzilla lol
Okay this is fr a Mandela effect who remembers doing the mission for the followers to do the executive override?
There is a quest like that in new Vegas, right after getting out of the lucky 38,but it isn't much,as You just put a thing in a computer in the casino and as soon as You hey back,it no longer works and the quest ends,You really can complete it in like 5 minutes or less
If you think that Mad Max was the inspiration for Fallout, may I recommend A Boy and His Dog, starring a very young Don Johnson, waaaay before Miami Vice fame, or even Mad Max.
Like, there are so many elements, I'm surprised there wasn't a lawsuit.
Well maybe because a boy and his dog was a written work before being a movie lol
This feels like someone that just read a list and didn't actually look into anything or play the games. The highwayman in FNV isn't just a cool little Easter egg to another game, it's part of a much bigger theory
“Self-imposed reasons and timeframes” makes me think you’re not actually a Fallout fan, literally everybody knows that Bethesda put limits on Obsidian’s development of New Vegas. The disrespect is so weird.
There's some people that spend longer making TH-cam videos then they spent making that game
Or maybe blah blah blah just enjoy the series and this well made and Very thought out video
You can get both the Alien Blaster and the YCS by using the AutoDoc machine at big mountain to respec your traits.
Its heavily inspired by the 1978 film "A Boy and his Dog" Starring Don Johnson. Where he walks about with a telepathic dog in a post apocalyptic california. He even calls it Dogmeat
hang on i've written this before i've finished the video so it may actually be in here
Not sure where i heard but, i heard the mysterious stranger could some sort of angel. Something about a book in one of the fallout games or a fallout devs favorite story is a story about when this character is in trouble this mysterious angel comes in times of dire need and essentially saves the character but then disappears. Not 100% accurate but heard something like that.
How you can possibly say New Vegas didnt have a post game because Obsidian "couldnt come up with anything" is just ridiculous. They had development time constraints, not self imposed, and theres tons of examples of their post game ideas that just got cut due to those time restrictions. Nobody can know everything, but this is just a huge oversight.
I love how they have the bar from Cheers in FO3
The 10,000 lines of dialogue may also have been a super subtle reference or challenge to themselves related to Tool as well. Their album 10,000 days came out about a year before development started. The theme was shedding off the old and embracing the journey to begin again.
The developers were huge Tool fans, and I’d have no doubt that they may have posed a self limitation like this upon themselves as a kind of tribute to the band and challenge of their ability for artistic expression.
Side note. The Album title was always rumored to be a reference to Saturns orbit. But there’s more modern stories that it was in reference to his mother, who suffered from a hemorrhage and was paralyzed for 27 and a half years of Maynard’s life, since he was 11. 27.5 years = roughly 10,000 days.
I love insight like this! Thanks so much for the comment!
"Imperial fck ton" 😂
I'm playing over 60fps and it's running fine and compared to the original release runs very smoothly in almost all areas I've been to so far
Fallout 76 is currently my favorite my first was 4 and I have played NV I will play 3 but nothing beats roaming the waste land with your literal best friend the missions aren’t anything to boast about but the true nature of the game is the ability to play with friends, do events and get good gear and show off your cool base ❤
My favourite Blade Runner easter egg is probably That Gun.
47:30 - well, of course they’re going to ge ahold of it if you’re paying to develop it over there!
You win TH-cam for saying Dunwich properly 🥇🎉🍾
Gojira is a band who had to change their name from Godzilla due to legal reasons, so it's a nod to the band and an inside joke since fallout is rebranding everything too for the same reason.
Any chance for serious sam iceberg? No one has really done one and the game has so much history!
Is there much Serious Sam lore?
The Numbers Station one creeped me out.
The new number shown during the fallout tv series was actually creepy. If you text it you’ll be put in a queue but if you call you hear screaming 35:28
Did this 4 months too soon.
Alright the Tardis caught me off guard 😮
Holy shit.... imagine a Bioshock show the same caliber as Fallout....
Been playing Fallout games since 08 and didnt know the one about the computer hacking.
So I'm pretty sure that someone already told you that Obsidian didn't self impose time limits, Bethesda imposed time limits to obsidian. That said i wanted to talk about more important stuff:
Wasn't jenkem proven to be just an internet hoax?
I alwaays pick wild wasteland so i dont even know whats in the normal game anymore
#normalizeicecreamsocials
I wish lists like this would mention the more unknown things, like the large custom games made by the community for Fallout 1 and 2, or the Fallout Online (non official) that ran for YEARS in kind of an mmo style. Custom Fallout engines was a thing, and people could make their own games. Also there's the whole open source Fallout-ce projects, worth mentioning too. Or Falche edito.. which I .. err, no we didn't cheat in Fallout with it. Cough.
Fisto = GOAT
Actually i believe Bettys the brahmin was supposed to have High HP so she had survivability while she ran, being very hard to kill and having a massive carry capacity allowed for a more technical companion rather than a murder bro
Idk if it was mentioned but I never see anyone mention the SAW maze in Fallout 4
So basically the wild wasteland perk is life in the wasteland with schizophrenia 😂😂😂😂😂
I think the side effects of stealthboys only effect super mutants
Birds are synths, atleast some. You can see what they're seeing on moniters under the collage.
The fact that Codsworth can say Assface and not Kimmie sends me hahahaha

10,000 lines really isnt a lot. Granted lines variable in length, so that 10k could be 100k words, but when im on my game for writing, my chapters are generally 15-20k words each and it often doesnt feel like enough
I’m fuckimg hammered but this is awesome
Adding to the 3rd person baby one baby skeletons are just smaller models of adult skeletons and the fallout show did it too
They should've add a timmer to fallout 4 but then turn it off once you beat the game
Gojira is was actually inspired by Godzilla but in the Japanese version they called it gojira (My English is bad)
I feel like it needs to be pointed out that teh "Gojira" found in the game files is a refrence to Godzilla As Gojira is the Original japanese name of Godzilla. and It being a if it not him being a giant fire breathing Lizard Deling WAAY TOO MUCH damage wasn't enough of a giveaway. it's of course Refrencing godzillas Atomic breath. Which Does fit with Fallouts theme of you know Nuclear Fallout. Which the original Godzilla was always an alegory for after you know Hiroshima and Nagasaki. got nuked.
The symbol monkeys my dude they know more than they're letting on

If you want to pronounce Japanese correctly the trick is to pronounce it exactly as written while kind of spitting out the sound, Japanese is weirdly flat like that
Same with Spanish. It's pronounced exactly as spelled
We still say metric fuck-ton in the US... I've heard that phase a lot as i grew up in a rural area and i have seen literal metric tons of produce, pigshit, steel and iron....a lot of farm equipment uses standard metric units bc they sell the same tractors in Europe, Asia, north America and its easier to just learn metric than to produce 2 different types of each model.
6:16 removing th bracketed parts of code is called "Debugging". Its best to debug after doing 1 or 2 password attempts, since you can sometimes debug & get a refreshment to your login attempts.
That's unexpected
This was kinda confirmed in the show 1:16:26
Also Gojira as you didn't state it which is a massive oversite on this video is in fact it's an Easter Egg for Godzilla or as the Japanese call him Gojira. The health plus it's size plus the Gojiras flame (atomic breath) is a clear nod and EE to that franchise. Actually you missed a load of these sorta things but hey ho half ice berg is fine 😅🎉
Maybe he didn't mention it because most of the people watching the video probably already knew, the reference is pretty obvious, just speculating, though.
From what I remmember the begining of the Brotherhood was discussed in Falout 76 that it is inspired by the templars, knights, scribes, etc. From what I remmember there is a quest in the game that you get to have a holotape and listen on how the brotherhood started.
Gahh the drinking on the mic
I found it f#ck face by accident. I thought every one was going to do it not just codsworth.
Gojira is a reference to Japan and the title godzilla in Japan they don't call him godzilla they call him gojira
imagine having motion blur on your webcam
I've never understood why everything looks and feels like the 1950s but everything went down in 2077, why they didn't just make the war go down just after WW2
This is common missunderstanding caused by Bethesdas interpretation. The original game is set to the future world, how people from 50's and 60's imagined it. That is the main theme, not that they are stuck in that retro decades.
did da coolesst fkn video ive seen alk day
TLDR: new Vegas seemed like it was going to be bigger but you guessed it, it was cut😂
14:40 Ugh. I mean, why, out of all settings, Bethesda has chosen Fallout to put all that Dick stuff in it? Those things just don't fit the setting. Unlike aliens, or green goo turning people into mutants.
18:27 if I'm not mistaken, that's a particularly north german pronounciation, the rest of Germany adds one more sound.
37:24 yeah, get it? Shotgun, because Cass prefers shotguns.
44:56 As I've heard, lots of bad reputation comes from version desined for .30-06 Springfield round rather than one made for french ammo.
55:47 In russian localisation jet is called "Vint", a common noun for stimulator drugs based on methamphetamine or ephedrine.
57:32 It's sad that Legion stuff was heavily cut before release. They show little to no redeeming qualities, seeming to be the least sympathetic faction in the game, and I blame game cuts for this.
