Actually zanzeer was written by Salim sahab alone , even Javed was not associated with Salim sahab at that time as this thing is already revealed by Salim sahab in an interview with komal nahata etc Bollywood business. The story of zanzeer was narrated to Dharmendra in that time by Salim ji , already however things didn't work with dharmendra and finally Amitabh ji came on board with prakash Mehra as a director.
Zanzeer was super hit because everything was exceptional Amitabh Bachan , Pran , Om Parkash and above all Ajit sahib dangerous villain role and the background music of Kalyan Ji Anand Ji was superb .

the biggest turning point ever in the history of the film industry was Aradhana which gave the industry the God of the century the difference between RajeshKhanna & others RajeshKhanna's Goddom was unexplainable for the years from 1970 to 1975 he was God he had devotees & not fans no one can come even remotely close to RajeshKhanna at his peak
