THEY EVEN CHANGED THE THEME FOR THE TAVERN TO SOUND MORE IRISH, this game just can't be more perfect on the sound matter
And is that DYNAMIC TRANSITION between the two?? Incredible.
THIS GAME IS INCREÍBLE!!!
Ooh, I love the new dialogue noises for the different characters. Very Banjo-Kazooie-esque.
Yes!!
For me it reminds me of Undertale
The fact that flavio sounds like Cronos from yugioh GX japanese dub has me dying
They would’ve just remake the game with just updated graphics and a remix soundtrack but nope. They made new expressions on characters, have different battle themes and so many more. You can tell they put so much heart and soul into the game and the characters. And I’m ALLL for it
I’d have preferred just a graphics update like with Super Mario Sunshine. Who wants to play in 30 fps?
@@christophersawdon1617 aint that big of a deal bro, its gonna take some getting used to fosho, but by no means is it a dealbreaker in a rpg
It was kind of disappointing to see people overlooking how high effort this remake is simply because it’s not 60 FPS I understand the argument about settling for less, but that doesn’t justify devaluing the developers’ hard work just because the frame rate isn’t at an industry standard. The Devs wanted to make the game look as beautiful as possible because that was part of the appeal of the original game the visuals so they had to sacrifice frame rate the switch is barely more powerful then a seventh generation console it’s not the developers fault that Nintendo had the switch made with outdated hardware
But, the framerate, it's terrible, TERRIBLE!!!! (....lol)
the games just a remastered anyways, and the fact that the switch is 20+ years ahead of the gamecube but yet the gamecube is able to hit 60fps is pretty funny.
While this game has received quite the glow up in almost every way, I have to say the "screen shatter" in the original TTYD after finding the location of the next crystal star, is still so freaking cool.
I agree, I was waiting for this. The new one doesn't have that "oomph" when the text pop up comes up after the zoom in of the map shot. The original will still give me shivers from the sound effects used in that one moment. Still love the new visual effects though, absolutely incredible
@@Ray-rd7cyYes! That shiver is a real feeling! I'll miss that screen shatter on the map but still so ready for this new experience!
If this game sells 6Million + we should be safe to hope for a new Paper Mario with this bsttle System
Yeah no
I hope so
I hope so
If that happens every game would fell the same with nothing new to spice things up
6 million is probably a little too high. Super Mario RPG is likely to surpass Origami King’s sales (if it hasn’t already) somewhere around 4 million. So if TTYD reaches that number by the time the Switch 2 launches, a message will be sent to Nintendo that we still want Paper Mario games like the first two.
Man they added a lot more dialogue to some of these conversations
Have to wonder how much of that was just lost in the original localization.
@@PedroMatos482 its hard to tell. It seems like some of this translation is going for a more faithful interpretation of the Japanese text and some may just be the writers having more fun
@kybosh4253 I think that's exactly it. Which is both a good and a bad thing. Form the dialogue we've seen so far they've taken the edgyness and dark flavor out of most of the text which is a shame considering that was one of the biggest aspects that gave ttyd such a great vibe
@@ScrimmyBunglets i've noticed the foot fetish joke is still in, oddly enough. I'm mixed on some of the changes. Some of them I love, others i'm ok with but slightly prefer the original. At the very least the replacements have been funny so far, even if a few got sanitized.
@@kybosh4253some things aren’t. The Goombas flirting with Goonbella in the sewers was removed and it was actually translated pretty accurately in the original us release.
It’s not even that they remastered the original in HD, or even tried to recreate it in the newer style, it’s that this looks so much more different and amazing, the lighting is on another level compared to even the origami king and colour splash. They even added new music. I’d like to think that someone at Nintendo loved this game just as much and pushed to have as much love put into it as possible.
This dynamic music in different parts of Rougeport is making this dump feel alive ❤
THE ALTERNATE BATTLE MUSIC
I hope your dump went smoothly, wipe well!
Its crazy how much of a difference the improved lighting makes on the atmosphere. The dimmer lighting in the area around the Thousand Year Door does a great job of capturing the mysteriousness of the area.
Too bad it doesn’t look as smooth……
@@jameswalterthethirdthere's always one that has to bring it up
We get it. The game is 30FPS. We don't need to dwell on it forever, it's not going to change.
@@BlaizeTheDragon I mean ur getting charged full price for a half assed port dude. It’s disappointing and deserves to be criticized
@@jameswalterthethird I'm not saying it doesn't. We all know it's a flaw of the game. But only dwelling on the flaws is just as unhealthy as only looking at the positives.
Also "half assed port" is such a mind boggling phrase. They made an effort to fix one of the original games biggest flaws (the back tracking), they completely animated the intro, the game now has an actual lighting engine, the sprites are smooth and crisp with newly added animations to characters including lesser NPCs, they composed even more varied music to make the game more dynamic and that's just what we know. All of these things is far superior to the original. That doesn't mean the game deserves to be slapped with a "half assed port" comment because the game isn't as smooth.
Is it a problem? Sure. No game is perfect and 30FPS is a bummer. Does that mean it deserves all of this unfathomable hate? Absolutely not.
@@BlaizeTheDragon mmm compared to other remakes like ff7 and re4 and even super Mario rpg this is a half assed remake… very minimal improvements and only one big change, that being the back tracking has changed… I get I love thousand year door but def not going to support a clear money grab by Nintendo
Just buy it people, please. Go into debt, take out a loan, forget your kids groceries and don’t fill up your car with gas. Do something. Take a loan out from a loan shark, idgaf. Just buy this game so the weebs at Nintendo realize this game is where the paper mario franchise was at its peak. I’d love a sequel, or even a new game that continues this story idc lol. JUST BUY IT OK I WANT NINTENDO TO SEE THIS AS SUCCESSFUL. N’YEAH, SEE
I preordered digitally and physically 🎉
Nah lazy overpriced remake. Not touching until it is 29.99
I can't support a censored product that's a rerelease of something I already own.
@@ItDaBizwhat do you meant by “censored”?
@@hododod246lazy???????????????
overpriced? fine. whatever. but LAZY???????
Awesome video! It's cool that they added music for the bar now, rather than just quietening Rogueport's theme like in the original.
I will miss the general conversation sound. It's one of the most distinct paper mario sounds I remember, but yeah it should be updated, which I love them using specific mario character sounds
the only thing i wish they didn’t change was the way the dialogue options are in the original. i just like how they’re wavy and glow lmao
I think it’s to help people with visual disabilities to see it better, the old wavy rainbow text might be a bit much for some people 😁 And hey the more people that can play this game, the better!
THERE'S TAVERN MUSIC
Would love to know if you can auto-advance text box’s by mashing A or B, the text moves a bit slow for my taste
could in the original, and we dont know the extent of the settings in the remake yet. I am assuming yes, especially with just how drastic the clips used to compare got offset in this video.
Since it's on the same engine as Origami King, you could only skip / speed up dialog by seeing it once first (which might be a pain because most dialog will be slow and doesn't get repeated anyway...) I REALLY hope that's not the case in this game...
I love the way the battles start with the super mario bros jingle now, always starts the hype
7:57 I'm wondering, why did the background of the text window stop moving in the remake? It's a small detail, but I liked it, so it's a shame.
All characters have back sprites now???!?!?!?
Does anyone know or can tell if they’re reusing the voices from the original game in the remake? Like is Mario using reused voice lines from Charles? Really hope so
Yes, old Voice clips are being used. Played the original too much. There might be new voice clips for new things if they added some
Any opinions to get the original music or sounds in options or with a badge?
The badge that lets you listen to the original music costs one coin and 0 BP to equip, idk about the sounds in options though
There's a GameCube Badge now it was in screenshots so it's safe to say yeah
There is a nostalgic tunes badge that lets you have the original GameCube soundtrack. It will cost 0 BP to equip and be available early in game.
nostalgic tunes, 1 coin (when featured) in the badge shop the moment it unlocks, 0 bp. It has been hard confirmed at this point. Music, yes. SFX, unknown. In which case, all that is missing is the visual "filter", but it is debatable if it is even worth wishing for when it is the main separation we get in the trailers.
I believe the Original Nintendo Gamecube Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door game looks still good even after iver a 20 years, but can't eait i'm so excited for the Upcoming HD Switch Remake! 😊❤
Based Bleach enjoyer
Yes, i'm based Bleach enjoyer, but i'm a Nintendo and Mario fan too! @@gintoki4838
I really like the sfx for the speech bubbles
This game has the most "It looks exactly how I remember it!" energy despite being essentially entirely rebuilt from scratch that I have ever personally experienced.
They really killed it.
And yet people still keep calling this a remaster lol
Probably the same people who called Super Mario RPG a port. (not joking, I heard people actually calling it that, lol)
@Joeynator3000 omg, that is hilarious 😂
What exactly is a remaster then ? A port is to take the original game and plop it onto a newer more later console without any reworks, right ? It is essentially emulated.
@Milksi_bons emulation is when the system is pretending to be the original system for that game, a port is when the game is running natively on the new system, a remaster is when it's still the original game but modernized with new textures and graphics but still the same engine and code, a remake is when the game is completely rebuilt from the ground up, it can be a shot for shot remake like Paper Mario TTYD, or the Spyro and Crash trilogies, or completely different like Final Fantasy Vll Remake
A remaster is upping the resolution and adding extra content to improve gameplay. A remake is complete overhaul of graphics, the soundtrack, and gameplay. @@Milksi_bons
It is a real shame that the remake runs in 30 fps instead of 60 fps like in the original. But other than that the remake really does look phenomenal. They really went all out with this remake. I especially love how expressive the characters are in the remake with the newly added animations. That & the remake fixing the infamous backtracking of the original game is a huge plus.
My one concern with framerate is always are there drops?
@@Lightspeedsaccording to early reviews/previews the frame rate is stable
30fps was probably a choice. Looks like they prioritised visual fidelity with the remake.
@@JIreland1992 you could always fix it on pc
Its a lazy port. If people keep supporting downgrades like this nintendo will keep trolling its fanbase
I’ve played this game many times, and still feel like I’m getting spoiled by watching these vids. What a time to be alive
I think they made new songs like for the Inn that you go in, really nice details :D
Holy shitamole, they really went all out for this remake. I'm stunned.
It looks great but the older visuals feel more cohesive
It's rare with remakes to claim that the original pales in comparison, especially with beloved cult classics like TTYD.
As someone who grew up obsessed with Paper Mario, I can confidently say that this is the case here. In this presentation, TTYD's appeal finally gets the glorious and epic vibe it deserves.
Idk the lower frame rate lowkey to me makes the paper aesthetic better
Yeah honestly in retrospect IMO it actually works better for this game somehow. Like in the side by side comparisons the original smooth battle animations with the paper sprites somehow made it look kinda weirdly robotic in retrospect. Whereas in the new version the lower framerate somehow makes it more... convincing? It's strange.
@@darthrykingalso the animations were heavily improved
If that were the intention, it'd be closer to 15 or 24 FPS to mimic stop-motion.
Our brains are used to seeing 2d animation at 24fps at this point, so it makes some sense.
I guess that's one way to cope
Not first, lol I can't wait for the remake
Yup u are not first,
I can't wait for the Remake too.
3 weeks is too much
TOADSWORTH IS ALIVE
I might just be weird, but I don't even notice the difference with 30FPS unless the 60FPS footage is there to compare to.
agreed
This really is the Metroid Prime Remastered of the Paper Mario Series. It looks exactly how you remember until you see the side-by-side and realize how advance it actually is.
Metroid Prime managed 60 fps though, if I remember correctly.
@@carlstevenwilletts who cares
@@arzfan29 Frame rate has always been subjective. It bothers some, it doesn't bother others. Personally, it is only a problem for me sometimes. The question here is how do the battles run. As long as there are no problems with the timings (no lag in responsiveness), it's not a problem.
I could care less about frame rate as long as it runs well and plays well
@@carlstevenwillettsthe ppl who got early prevues said the timing has been altered to accommodate the framerate, so it won’t be more difficult in battle to perform precise hits.
Is it just me or does the overworld music in the remaster feel muted. The notes and melody popped in the GameCube version but it just feels like it doesn’t pop the same way in the remaster. Maybe hearing it for myself rather than through the video will resonate differently
At first I was just hype to play it again, but I am blown away at the extra love that was put in making the is much more than I thought it was.
wonder if the game is uncut, the white outline from the dead toad, anybody know something about this?
I mean the noose is still in it so I’d imagine that’s they’re too
@@coolioam8137the toad outline was only in the Japanese version
You're right, idk how I forgot about that. @@LuigiXHero
Considering how dialogue is being censored to be less edgy, I would assume the noose might be the only edgy thing they kept in the game world. If anything they may keep the toad outline but not the blood stain which I would be fine with.
I really hope they remember to include stylish moves
Between this and getting Monster Hunter Stories 1 on switch this may be the happiest I’ve been since the Switch released.
game will run at 30fps or that is just the footage from nintendo?
MOAR! We want moar show us moar show us osts from boggly woods
This isn't helpful at all but I did see gameplay from one channels preview that showed the boggle woods music and its the only remade song I've heard so far that I think sounds better than the original.
Creen que venga con una aventura extra, como ocurrió con titulos remake en 3ds?
Hay mucha especulación, personalmente no creo que haya algo más, pero una aventura extra de luigi en el reino de los waffles o tal vez una sección nueva sería epico
great Gonzales is back;D!
Now that I think about the comparisons, the remake has the sort of movie like feeling with it and the original is more like a show/play like feeling. Even though the original ran at 60 fps and the remake will run at 30 fps on switch, if the switch's successor has backwards compatibility then it could be upgraded to 60fps possibly if Nintendo takes a note or 2 from the other companies. The Battle doesn't seem that much slower than the original since its about 1-2 seconds slower so I doubt many people will notice this besides die-hard fans (that is all I can gather for now)
Most of the changes do look good honestly.
Except for the map scene in my opinion. It being gray and getting color IS cool, but I like the sound effects of everything popping into existence rapid fire. I also liked it being more showy.
Everything else honestly looks great, I think I might pre-order this.
The new unique character dialogue sounds are giving Banjo Kazooie - and I’m not mad about it!
I wish they would do this for the first Paper Mario. I like that one so much better.
Same. TTYD absolutely deserves a remake and I'll be getting this on day one, but I always feel like I'm in the minority for preferring PM64 over TTYD.
@@darthryking same!!!
Same PM64 is the much better game for sure.
I know that opinions exist but it will never make sense to me how someone could play paper mario 64 AND thousand year door and come out saying 64 is the better game. TTYD does everything that 64 does but better, and adds even more on top of that while giving it a fresh coat of paint. And now with this remake an even fresher coat of paint
@@ScrimmyBunglets paper Mario 64 has the much better level design and chapters. TTYD backtracking hallway simulator is pretty god awful and ranking up is actively a bad thing where the stage hurts you more than it helps.
7:13 I kinda like Nintendo made some updates, the Original a bit slow
But I think is kinda cool, is like it’s shiny.
I've never played the original TTYD, but apart from the visuals the other notable thing I absolutely am liking is the unique character "voices".
Charm times a million.
Still the best Mario game I ever played. Beat this when I was 12 and beat it several times since. The backtracking in spots can be annoying but there's so much to do and so many crazy, unique characters!
We mustn't let our love of this game cloud our judgment, but boy oh boy does this look good
I think my judgement is already clouded! XD
Sure there are some dialogue differences. But man, 2004 graphics were already good for their time, remake 2000% better. Almost everyone has little animations that add flavor. Cutscenes got improved. OG tavern was silent, fine kinda adds a teeny bit new atmosphere, remake? new music. All this make the remake look spectacular
@@MegaEdproductions I specifically miss the "glass shatter" in the original, vs the "soundwave" when you update the map. I'm just saying, this remake looks AMAZING, but we should be prepared for changes we won't necessarily like.
I'm seriously considering getting 2 copies of this game, one just to keep sealed lol
I hope this sells really well just to show Nintendo we want more paper mario to be like this.
I'll be honest, I don't see a difference in the frame rate. I think I mostly see fps when I'm panning the camera around in a 3D environment. Not too much of that going on here.
Its a shame the remake runs at 30 fps but the game looks gorgeous and i love the remixed music.
Gotta say for the battles I definitely prefer the new music
This looks incredible
Will the Japanese version remain uncensored? Or did we lose our Goombella cat call scene?
hey i think your vid's a bit laggy on the remake section
They banjoified the npc conversations!
Looks amazing, but losing the 60 fps stings a bit.
Will play the original instead. A 60 dollar price tag in both respects for having a lower fps as well as there being an indicator of a degree of censorship makes the quality shaky when compared to the original. At least the likes of RE4R improved on the gameplay mechanics albeit still neutering the campiness of the plot.
I dislike the censorship aspect, but in my opinion the lower frame rate is worse for the price tag. Accepting this as a standard would be showing Nintendo that they can make lesser quality ports of their older gen consoles onto Switch for a 60 dollar price point.
okay the fact that they added dynamic music to rogueport is hella cool
I love the Origami King feel to the graphics and music!!!
I love how his nose has been getting slowly bigger in every game
7:10 Damn, those pillars were killed by 30 fps
It is a minor detail and some may even say it's annoying, but I liked seeing those pillars in front of the camera as it rotates, but at that speed they probably looked awful at 30 fps :
Metroid Prime and now Thousand Year. :) I need a Sunshine and Twilight Princess remaster.
Remake looks great but I can definitely tell the fps difference, especially when Mario is walking. The side by side makes it more apparent.
I just completed Paper Mario 64 on NSO, so I think I’m gonna buy this game. But I couldn’t find a way to save my victory over Bowser, because the save block in Toad Town gets removed, which means you’ll never see a 100% save file in the game. Though I wonder: can you leave Toad Town in the epilogue before entering Peach’s castle? I doubt it, but would the save blocks in the surrounding areas still be where they were during the game if so?
so the reason old games did that is...a bit goofy but basically the last save is b4 the final boss so that you CAN do everything else without them having to create a post game
@@Gemma-Majoran I don’t know if that answers the question of “can you leave Toad Town in the epilogue before entering Peach’s castle?”. Because entering it eventually triggers the credits and you can’t do anything else once they’re through.
@@fridaynightfunkinfan5627 i havent tested that particular thing myself, but the previous reply was more an explanation as to why the save block is removed in the first place; n64 era was still early enough in the history of video games that devs were still trying to figure out what was to become mainstay features of the medium. NG+ was not yet common, and saving after the final boss meant it could never be re-fought. Then comes hardware limitations a bit too specific to get into when i am only guessing or working off inferences. They dont want you to save post final boss when they havent even "figured out" returning the player to the title screen or implementing credits, as such a save would basically brick the file into a gameplay-less conclusion. Most N64 games with a definitive end to a story freeze up like that and force a hard (console) reset, so it isnt much of a stretch to infer the hardware limitations and intent behind a lack of post game, NG+, and the absence of save blocks in the conclusion. If there is a reachable save block, it almost certainly requires glitches, and hardware limitations also make it hard to believe they programmed a "world peace" map state for every screen in the game, implying that the devs would do everything in their power to keep you locked to the few screens that DO have a "world peace" map state.
It is pretty telling when remakes of games from that era often include boss rematches that werent in the original: video games have learned the mainstays by the time of the remake, and want to give players a way to continue enjoying the game post credits, even if there is no post game itself.
@@cullenlatham2366it's not even just in old games. Both Zelda breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom also kick you out before the final boss. Nintendo hardly has post final boss stuff in their games.
@@LuigiXHero *Before* the final boss? I hope you just need to reopen the save file to reach and fight it.
old front facing sprite was sm better 😂
Why doesn't Mario wave when talking to characters anymore?
I suggest the comparison clips being shorter so we can hear them back to back better
Why is it at 30fps though..? Metroid Prime Remastered is more graphically intense and still keeps 60fps so why can't TTYD?
This is 💯 a full remake from the ground up- metroid prime remastered was an enhanced version of the original games code.
They probably couldnt get it at a steady 60fps and decided to lock it at 30.
They really REALLY seem to have put the visuals on the front of their priorities for this.
Its not really going to affect the gameplay, but it will end up *feeling* a little different compared to the OG.
Luigis mansion was 30fps and was awesome, nothing in this game will be any more intense so I personally dont mind, having played the original to death I welcome a new change of pace 🤷♀️

@@guitarspud1723 I think their point is it's not a decades old game, it's a brand new game releasing this year from a code/visuals/etc perspective. Origami king also priorities visuals and runs at 30 as a result. Having said that, hopefully they release a 60fps patch for the next system.

Both rogueports at the same time sounds like a smash bros remix
Still buying this, but my main problem with recent PM games has never been more apparent than at 2:51... WHY IS IT SO DARK?? WHY IS ALMOST EVERYTHING IN THESE GAMES SO POORLY LIT???
I am still trying to see if there is anything "new" added to the remake.
Apart from redoing every visual and audio asset apart from Mario's voice and creating new battle tracks for each area? There's a new training mode, a warp pipe room to cut down on backtracking, and hints at new end-game content like in Super Mario RPG (but nothing confirmed on that front yet).
@@graphitedrizzle I'm still going to wait and see. I might pick it up if its on sale. I just played this game last year and beaten it so I don't really feel the need to replay it again. Unless if there is like new post game content like Super Mario RPG had.
