  • Did a simple revolver serve as the object that put the world on a path to World War II? That's the question that we're exploring at The Gettysburg Museum of History as we continue where we left off in the last episode to examine some of the objects that were looted from the Munich apartment of a certain Bohemian corporal at the end of WWII.

Is it possible that Hitler’s pistol is the same one that he used to shoot the ceiling during the beer hall pusht?? Wonder the date of manufacturing and the date of his gun license?

The "bohemian corporal" (Böhmischer Gefreiter) is a nasty name given by Hindenburg for Hitler. Hitler nor his family comes from Bohemia, they can be traced back to the 15th century in Upper-Austria.

The monk symbol for Munich is because the name means city of monks. The monk is giving a benediction with one hand and in the other is holding a code or book of law. I have a friend who comes from Munich and she said that she had heard from family that during the Nazi era, a swastika was added to the book in the monk's hand.

@@TheHistoryUnderground : In some foreign languages München is called Monaco, like the principality at french/italian border Region. The first Prince of Grimaldi dynasty conquered Monte Carlo disguised as a monk. For german grammar reason next to the monks would be: Bei den Mönchen, so the name München is clear. The Monk in Munich coat of arms is popular known as Münchner Kindl (Child of Munich).

When I was younger I would help deliver meals to elderly folk in a town near me. One of the people we delivered to was a gentleman who fought in Europe during the war. He was a clockmaker by trade, and while fighting found a clock and "liberated" it. He shipped it home and his wife put it under the bed for storage. One day a few years later he pulls out this liberated old clock and it blows up on him because it was booby-trapped. He survived, but a crazy reminder of how war is fought

05:50 The raised right hand of the monk is interpreted as a gesture of blessing or oath. The red book in the left hand refers to the oath book of the city (the right hand of the oath matches this) or the city law book, which has been handed down as a red-bound manuscript from 1365. It is also interpreted as a gospel book.

Many men simply carried them back to the states in barracks bags. They were allowed to carry souvenirs back, but no ammo. However, many were able to smuggle ammo also. There were so many men returning from overseas that it was impossible to search all of them. Additionally, the officers tasked with the search had served with these men. "Yup, everything looks good here. Better clean that MP-40, don't want it to rust. No, I don't need to see what is in that bag...sounds like silverware."

Himmler and Goebbels wanted Geli out of the picture because she messed with Hitler's mind (as they thought). So she had to go... People at the time wondered if she committed suicide or was murdered. If I recall my history, the Munich police wondered that as well.

Liberated, not lifted not looted! The gun of destiny is a bit of a stretch I think. Hitler began seeing Eva Braun shortly after Geli Raubal’s death. Having a relationship did not deter Hitler’s political ambitions. I suppose one could argue that he wasn’t as devoted to Eva Braun as he was to Geli Raubal but I’m thinking neither woman would have mitigated Hitler’s pathology.

That was a whole new level of history J.D I had no knowledge of. Thank you to Eric and yourself J.D for letting us know about history as someone who’s fascinated by that whole WWII era.
Especially the uniforms from before the war right the whole way through. From that of a really scary professional army, to the rabble of men with mixtures and mismatched uniforms at the end.
The only people to consistently have fantastic presence of uniforms were that of the Generals and Field Marshals.
Even the famous Jackboot to the small ankle boot seen from 1944, (which as a collector of memorabilia) was like the British one with ankle gators. Got to say though the German one was so flimsy on the ankle. I’m surprised anyone could use them over 8 stone weight. There must have been some reports of fractured ankles of men who couldn’t go on or got injured and had to be left behind. Trying to get those records would be interesting?
All due to shortage of leather.
At the end the boots where not even dyed any colour due to again issues and proper leather tanners and materials needed for it. They just proved how durable they were for the end was coming, as long as you wore that horrible ankle gator. It was to hide upper fragility On what I can describe as
    ‘limp leather’.
Think the SS were delaying the end for it was coming no doubt about it. They systematically went around J.D and hid special projects under a Dr.Hans Kammler. If you have a open mind to really weird and strange stuff there are no answers above ground too. Another historian has been involved in uncovering, what we cannot see is a betrayal to those who gave their lives as slave Labour is what he wants to undo.
I will link it to you if you reply. Only if you do. J.D The rocket technology and scientists with other technology. Was being bartered for by these high level Nazis for not meeting the hangman’s noose.
Only one mention of Dr. Hans Kammler .Who was directly ordered by Hitler through Himmler ,to have overall control of every special project at Nuremberg isn’t strange to any historian or teacher. Someone as powerful as he was in mass use of forced Labour, to be mentioned just once isn’t eyebrow raising is what this other historian who has others now involved. Is creating a bit of a storm now.
We must all remember as I hadn’t until then. It’s the victors who write history J.D you’ll agree to that. It’s never the loser who has anything massive to say in anything post wars. Only the victors narrative. This is one I found so strange but is true for all to look up. Germany was the only nation after WWII to still be making money from the war. Where everyone else was in a negative. How can that be explained? Leaving out the stolen items etc.
Germany was making money through different country’s ie Switzerland. Many German companies from the war are major brands in our markets with many different webs everywhere. The SS was into making money not losing it is still a thought that keeps me awake. Exactly what where they at and what influence does their web hold in countries around the world. War makes money, not peace is a fact? Sorry for the long post J.D
Praying for peace in Ukraine, that I know is a very dear part of your life J.D and family. 🙏🏻🇺🇦

Hitler had more than one Iron Cross and Wound Badge. Common practice for decorated uniform (of any type) wearing Germans was to permanently wear any prestige decorations on their uniform jackets. Having multiple decorations was an easy way to avoid switching out the decorations constantly. Certainly there was THE Iron Cross awarded by ceremony but others could be purchased at jewelers shops.
