We live in Orlando and we left yesterday. The closest place that had rooms available was Dunwoody, Georgia by Atlanta. The drive was annoying, but not horrendous. Mostly the slowdowns were from accidents or people getting off work like in Gainesville Florida. People drive like idiots and were weaving in and out of traffic. We came within inches of getting rear ended because idiots weren’t paying attention. Stay safe everyone.
Orlando doesn’t need to evacuate but you could have simply driven south to Miami it’s outside the cone.

I read a news article showing a simulation of something very similar happening in Tampa. It showed that it would leave the bay of Tampa bay 15ft under water. I hope and pray everyone has gotten out of there.

Ian was worst for Florida I guess. The other storm caused damage in Florida but destroyed North Carolina.
Ian went through Fort Myers in 2022, Helene hit northern Florida and the panhandle. 2 different storms but Fort Myers is still cleaning up from the hurricane 2 years ago.

What about hospitals and elder care homes? Did they get evacuated?
The hospitals are placing their patients on the highest floors. As for nursing homes, I'm not sure. Most of those are single floor dwellings 😢
I work at a nursing home in Ft. Myers and our patients were evacuated yesterday
