M&S are a national institution, they are the last of of our golden era of stores. They seem to be consistent with quality with food and beers & clothes that fit better and offer a bit more. Its a case of you get what you pay for with them.. slightly more cost but better products. I'm going to start trying to go there more often because its obvious to see. They dont actually cost much more than the premium tesco, asda or Morrisons products.
The beer range in the Sheffield branch is shite. I don't shop at high end supermarkets for reasons of cost but when Waitrose has an offer on for Fuller's Golden Pride, 3 ror £5.75, I'll brave the torment of being near succesful people.
I agree. I only tend to drink on a weekend but like a similar taste during the week. These are great to know what’s worth spending my money on. So far I’ve concluded that keineken 0 and Guinness 0 are the ones I’ll buy
I tried this last night. It's not bad, one of the better 0.5 (zero) lagers I think. Bit expensive in a 330ml can. The bonus is it's very low sugar and calories if you have to watch that. Personally, I prefer the erdinger alcohol free but that has a much higher sugar content (one of the highest in the AF range) which is probably why I like the taste.
This series of videos has come just at the right time for me as I start preparing for a marathon at the end of May. To be honest 16 weeks without a full fat beer is just as daunting as the physical training. Spot on reviews. Definitely going to try this M&S brew next week.
Reverse osmosis is the method they use to remove the alcohol. The beer is pumped at high pressure through a very fine membrane that allows the small water and alcohol molecules to pass through but leaves behind the bigger flavour molecules. This is then mixed with water again to give you your low alcohol beer. Keep up the great reviews Simon 👍
It's good to have these non/low alcohol beers reviews for those who want to cut down the amount of alcohol they are drinking. There are some many on the market and most are utter garbage so good to know which are the decent ones to try. If this company can make a good proeduct, there is not excuse for the big boys to do the same.
trying to cut down on my alcohol intake in general at the moment, not for dry january, or to try and follow this trend or because it's being rammed down our throats. i enjoy drinking high abv ipa and stouts or porters that just taste amazing, and it all adds up to a bigger waistline. So if a brewery can produce a high quality tasty beer which has a low alcohol content, i'm all for that. The thing is, many of these low alcohol drinks, just don't taste the same or have very thin mouthfeel or body, and that takes all the pleasure out of having a drink for me. Will have to give this a try and if it is as tasty as you say, integrate it into my weekly intake so that i am not having as much alcohol. A great thing to do if this can be done by more brewers.
Thanks for tasting these 'beers'. I drink the non alc stuff during the week because I cant stand sweet soft drinks any more. Plus, when you drink it all week, a glass of proper German larger on the Friday evening tastes sooooooo good 😁. These reviews have helped me diversify a bit. Cheers.
Great time for doing these zero/low alcohol beers Can't wait to try one, not too bad if it's £2 Quite often I like to have a beer in the sun after doing the garden all morning but then I have no possibilities of going out for a blast on the bike in the afternoon/evening. This product serves a purpose. I think ones of this quality will be few and far between. 👍
I bought a can of this but it must have been battered around in transit . When I poured the beer into a glass the carbonation was fleeting and by the time I tasted it it was flat which took away from the experience.
M&S are expensive, but offer the best overall quality amongst the competition. I am rarely disappointed with any M&S food or drink product, most of the big 4 supermarkets are a complete gamble.
Hi Simon, there are plenty of actual small craft brewers doing the non alcoholic thing. Mash Gang and Jump Ship spring to mind as superb examples. Have you considered checking some of them out as well as whatever is in Tesco??
I had some low or non ABV's before. Ended up chugging an IPA to wash away all the sweetness in my mouth. Then again those were cheap down-the-alley beers. CheerZ Simon.
Hi Simon, I’m from the states, and we have a brewery out of Stratford Connecticut called Athletic Breweing, all they make is non alcoholic beer, lagers and stouts. people seem to love them, I tried one of them and was shocked at how good it was, they do distribute all over the states, not sure if they sell them in the UK, but if you can, Try to get your hands on one of them. Cheers 🍻
A few videos ago you asked some questions about the price of AF and Low Alcohol beers. I asked a few questions at my local bottle shop. It’s to do with volume of trade. The top beers brands sell 10s of millions of litres. With that volume they produce beers at a much lower unit cost.the buyers at supermarkets will negotiate at deal which cuts the breweries deal to a lot less. Sometimes the beer will even be sold as a loss leader. Obviously the top branded AF beers have Nowhere the volume of sales. A lot of this is my interpretation but I hope it helps.

I think I'm going to do the same cut down but better quality... It's a case of use it or lose it !

This is why these non alcoholic reviews are so important. We need to what’s good and what’s not. Don’t give them up totally in February.

I wonder what they do with the alcohol they remove?
Maybe the workers put it in their flasks and take it home!

Fantastic thanks for the tip .
January is already boring enough without a drink. I do dry November in anticipation of the Christmas period. Makes more sense to me.
I would do it in February as it has the fewest days 🤣
This. January is the last month id go off the drink for

Looking forward to trying this after this review… £2 per 330ml can seems rather steep though!?

I’ve been buying this larger for the last few months. It’s fantastic!
Hi Simon. This one from M&S is excellent. I really like it. I don't get to M&S very often but when I do always buy 6 cans of it
Hey Simon, as many others have said get yourself some Lucky Saint (Blue can). It’s very good 👍🏻.
You need to visit Hepworth brewery it's an eye opener, they even brewed the 2024 vintage Thomas Hardy Ale.
Hi Simon, there are plenty of actual small craft brewers doing the non alcoholic thing. Mash Gang and Jump Ship spring to mind as superb examples. Have you considered checking some of them out as well as whatever is in Tesco??
Hi, Simon. The other non-alcoholic beer that is seemingly revered by the beer-reviewers, is Lucky Saint. I trust you’ve got a can or bottle ready? 😉
I had one of these last night. Pretty darn good.
I had some low or non ABV's before. Ended up chugging an IPA to wash away all the sweetness in my mouth. Then again those were cheap down-the-alley beers. CheerZ Simon.
Brooklyn Special Effects is my go to low alcohol beer. I think you will like it. Thanks for your reviews.

Hepworth are an excellent Sussex brewer, luckily pretty close to me! they also do a low alcohol ale.
Are you going to review that non-alcoholic beer from the Virgin advent calendar? 😉
I must try that one, thanks.

Your'e out of date re the volume of low alcohol beer sales.
Were you thinking of Wells Brewery? They do a lot of honey beers
M&S also sell a non alcohol Czech lager.... sounds interesting
Such a great time that you can’t remember it happening
Will you be reviewing soft drinks produced by independent producers such as Fentimans.
Thanks for doing the dirty work for us 😂
Definitely it's a dirty job but somebody's got to do it 🤣 at least he'll get his money back !
Hey Simon! When’s the next live pub?
Why did u put it in that glass simon? Ruined the beer
Give me a Krombacher any day.
As an alcoholic, I find this slew of zero % beer reviews incredibly offensive.
😂
Id rather buy a large bottle of lemonade for that price
What’s the point? I like the alcohol
Check out 'Lucky Saint' Simon. blimmin lovely!
