    Great idea! I love that your kids did it, too. And what a wonderful job they did! They have talent like their mother.😊 You CAN draw. The house is darling. On the black background it looks like a decoration for Halloween. It is adorable! What a fun activity to do with the family. It reminds me of the sewing cards we used to have. And thank you for all of the suggestions for ways to apply these! You are great!♥️

    What a fabulous and fun idea for everyone, I love to embellish , this would lend itself to beads on the capitol letters, buttons are always fun to sew on and dot your i's, brads could easily be embedded with their prongs. If you wanted to make it 3 D one could use pieces of plastic coffee stir sticks they have a hole in them. or straws to accent the Capitol letters. Take a silver washer and use them as O's. Small toothpicks could cross your T's, wrapped in thread of course. even wire could be used, and ribbon. The outside edge could be whipped stitched with yarn as well. One of the first pieces of art I did as a child about 3 years old was draw a stem and two leaves and used a few of my moms buttons to make flowers on cardstock. It won a prize at our state fair.

    This reminds me of the cards I used to have as a small child that was a design that had the holes already punched out around the item and you sewed around it. It was great for hand-eye coordination. This would be awesome for kids as well.

    The only option I would personally add to the way to secure the thread is this - instead of knots you can use pieces of masking tape to start and finish. This speeds up the process an allows you to avoid too much bulk underneath the card.

    What if all I have is regular thread? I do have waxed thread for binding my journals but not in as many colors.

    • @TreasureBooks
      @TreasureBooks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Waxed thread might be too thick. This is just embroidery floss. If using regular thread, you can double or triple it up to have it still be visible and to prevent tearing paper. I hope this helps!

  • @journeywiththelight5284
    @journeywiththelight5284 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would it be easier if making tape was added on the back before punching the holes? Then the paper is strengthened before starting to sew. Just wondering. Cool idea though. Looks so pretty!

    • @TreasureBooks
      @TreasureBooks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure. My only fear was the needle and the thread picking up a bit of the sticky by constantly going through masking tape. Thats the only reason I didn’t do it, but now thinking about it, I don’t think it would be a problem. Thank you for watching!
