I hope you folks enjoy EP 3/3 of the 2019 Fort Myers Family Trip! :) This video contains a *CATCH OF A LIFETIME,* folks! Also, just a little disclaimer here: please exercise caution when handling endangered species of fish, and always make sure to put your safe fish handling skills to use! Tight lines and FISH ON, folks!
Did you report this catch to the FWC? If not, would you please? It allows our biologists to study and help secure the future of the Sawfish myfwc.com/research/saltwater/fish/sawfish/contact/
I went to Fort Myers with some friends earlier this year and we landed 2 sawfish in a period of 15 minutes fishing for catfish/sharks. Apparently, they are in the area in a much higher density compared to many other places, considering there are only supposed to be around 10,000 in the world.
Heyyy I’d rather get a ticket and the catch of a lifetime than live with the guilt of knowing I could have possibly killed one of the last few remaining small tooth sawfish on the planet.
That was super impressive watching you remove the hook completely from a dangerous fish like that while keeping the crowd informed on EXACTLY what was going on at the same time. Well done!
Epic Leo - but why does your parents catch all the rare ones 🤔😂😂 And your father is recovering really well - I can spot the difference in his movement , fishing is a great way to train muscle strength and coordination ❤️✌🏼️🙋🏼
well handled, leo. really cool moment. out of curiosity, do you count endangered fish in your life list total? and how about tag-team efforts like this one?
I live in Fort Myers and you did a pretty good job at pronouncing the rivers name. Almost perfectly. I glad you had a very successful trip to my home. Maybe it will encourage you to return here again in the future. Lots of other great places to fish from shore.
Leo - I can see your Dad getting stronger and his balance is getting better too with each video. Tell him to keep up the hard work! Cheers to your family and the fishing physical rehab!! Tight lines!!
Now THAT is super cool! Fish of a lifetime. And you did the right thing, Leo. You always try your best to be kind to the fishes. And I hope you realize that you just touched a creature older than the dinosaurs, bro. 100ish million years old!
That's so cool you go fishing with your parents! My dad and I are best fishing buddies for life! He's taught me "almost" everything I know about fishing!
Leo I am a year late, but I wanted to say you are a good Steward. I think you did as good a job as you could! Well done, the fishing God's allowed you a rare priviledge.
I remember seeing sawfish and horseshoe crabs, and blowfish growing up in Fla... (55-60 yes ago) Too bad so many of those species are now endangered. May we always live in interesting times. Thank you for what you do.. 👍😊😎
Hey Leo please contact FWC and let them know where you caught the saw fish and give a estimated size and weight . They ask you do that so they can keep track of areas its still living in. Awesome catch and it's so cool your pop caught it.
that was an awesome release Leo i cant believe that it didnt draw blood on ya! either way great video! Great family teamwork to land that fish, i hope it made your day as much as it did mine to watch this! keep it up man!
Always a good sunday morning when you have a coffee and an EPF video. Wonder if there's sheepshead or jolt head porgy under that pier. Excellent video brother!
Leo kudos to you for handling the sawfish with the care you exhibited , but I wondered if you could cut the line and the hook stay with the fish or are they a fragile species ?

This place has *beautiful* fish, Congratulations your fishing was amazing! Hug!!!👍🎣🐟😊
Wow, amazing video! What a rarity! If you haven't checked your last video for comments, I have a video suggestion once you get back to Philly: Catch 'n cook 4 sunfish slam! You go into your local creeks and try to catch the four common sunfish species in your area: Bluegill, Pumpkinseed, Redbreast, and Green (or any other species.) Then you go back home, cook 'em up however you like, and then review their tastes to see which one is the GOD OF SUNFISH (taste wise.) It would be greatly appreciated if you at least took this into consideration. Tight lines and take it easy. 😁
The fact you didn’t want to hold onto him for 3 extra seconds to snap a quick picture of an extremely rare catch that you’ll probably never see again says a lot about your character
Hey, great video. My family lives in Fort Myers and Bonita Beach. Next time you go, maybe I can set you up with them they went there fishing 9 years ago and never came back now they have a tackle store called masterbaiters
bro what an amazing catch, i bet you were very jealous that your dad hooked it instead of you but that hand on experience with the fish though, what a beast
My family lives a couple of hours north of Ft. Myers, in the Port Charlotte/Englewood area. A few years ago, I caught one of those catfish at Placida (near the Boca Grande Island bridge). You mentioned the sharp fins...when I landed it, the fish was not hooked very well and it came off the hook just as I got it near me. When it fell, the barb when through my shoe (I was wearing leather athletic shoes) and into the front of my big toe, then broke off from the fish. Talk about hurt!! I pulled it out of my toe with my pliers, which really hurt because those barbs also have small barbs on them that angle backward (about 45 degrees), making quite a wound. I ended up at the emergency room because I was not sure the entire barb came out. They had to X-ray my big toe. They just ended soaking my foot for about a half hour in some sort of anti-biotic solution. In addition to the little barbs, those catfish also have a slime covering that is somewhat poisonous.
Cant belive you only have 157k subs and other fisherman youtubers that have way less respect for the sport have more keep on mummy chugging great content.
Awesome and rare catch bro! I'm glad that you were the one to catch and release that fish man! Who knows what someone else would have done?! Happy to see your Dad improving as well! It's been great to see his condition improve throughout the summer. 😲👍🙏🎣 #tightlines
Next time you come to Florida try a clear monofilament or fluorocarbon leader about 10-30 inches long, the bigger fish get shy of the line, you did pretty good tho a lot of experienced fisherman in Florida have yet to catch a saw fish so that’s pretty lucky
I hope you folks enjoy EP 3/3 of the 2019 Fort Myers Family Trip! :)

My 4 year old son freaked out when he saw the stingray and was so quiet and confused with that sawtooth. Epic day for you and your parents.
well handled, leo. really cool moment. out of curiosity, do you count endangered fish in your life list total? and how about tag-team efforts like this one?
You were the hero of the day there.......You set a good example for that crowd! The odds of catching that are ridiculously low, congrats!

You are amazingly brave to help that fish out. You could tell that fish trusted you though. You are a hero :)
Beautiful catch and well done keeping your head on straight for the sawfish and playing it professionally keeping it’s well being in mind 🍻
According to google there could be as few as 200-5000 of these sawfish left in the world. The fact that your dad hooked ( and landed ) one is crazy .
