Cologne Was F@*king Insane

  • This past Sunday IEM Cologne wrapped up and I am not being hyperbolic when I say it might be the greatest counter-strike we have ever witnessed.
    FaZe defeated NAVI to cement themselves as the current best team in the world, Twistzz is now undoubtedly the greatest player in NA history, and despite the heartbreaking loss, S1mple is still the GOAT.
    This was such a good weekend for CSGO, so let's dive in and break it all down.

    This is the FIRST ever esports LAN I have had the opportunity to attend, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life - the atmosphere was insane, hearing myself and the crowd involuntarily yelling when someone pulled off an insane clutch, and rooting for FaZe to pull off the triple crown - I will remember it for the rest of my LIFE

EliGE has been a top 20 player since 2017, he was the first and still is the only NA player to be top 5 in the world, and also carried Liquid during their IGS win. Twistzz has skill, but he's not as good as elige, he just wins in the achievement department.

    For everyone talking about why Twistzz not getting MVP...MVP is a tournament achievement. It is not given for one good game/matchup. Twistzz had a good final, but s1mple had good tournament. s1mple's stats for the whole tournament are much higher.

    • @MaFiaMediaHD
      @MaFiaMediaHD ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, I think the focus needs to be changed to- there should be a separate award for Finals MVP. Because when it comes down to it, Twistzz wound up being one of the biggest reasons FaZe raised the trophy in Cologne, and Navi didn't.

      @@bizarro4587 Broky definitely wouldn't have. Twistzz had the most impact by a mile. Broky narrowly had the most kills total (6 more than Twistzz), but MVP isn't based off of kills. Can someone explain how CSGO's league system works? I've recently started watching CS and have noticed that there is multiple tourney like IEM, Grand Slam, BLAST, and ESL Pro League. I know that the world championships are the majors, but are they all different tourneys or do they all tie in together?

    • @psych0CS2
      @psych0CS2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So there's different hosts for tournaments.
      Blast runs their own tournaments
      ESL runs their own
      IEM runs their own
      Certain ones happen each year and are huge events:
      Global finals (blast)
      Majors (valve sponsored)
      Cologne
      Katowice.
      Each determines points on hltv. Better placements in higher tier tournaments give more points. (Major win is more points then winning Dallas, ect)
      Its confusing at first but honestly it doesn't matter all that much. Just know what is an S tier event and what isnt. But even then the most important thing is who is playing at the event

    • @templarknight7
      @templarknight7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's similar to tennis. Each team has a ranking that qualifies them to take part in a tournament. If their ranking isn't high enough, they can try to make it to a tournament through open qualifiers.

    • @blzngdrmmr
      @blzngdrmmr ปีที่แล้ว

      sure, I'm not the most familiar but I can give you the basics. CS:GO operates on a circuit system where different tournament organizers hold various events and leagues. These tournaments are completely independent of each other, but can earn you circuit points which can earn you an invitation to the Valve-sponsored majors. There are also various qualifiers which allow you to earn access into the bigger tournaments, but some are just invite-only. There's also leagues like ESL Pro League which have longer periods of play and then a large playoff tournament finale. The "Grand Slam" refers to winning 4 S-tier events within a certain time period, and comes with a bonus $1M, which has only been achieved twice by prime Astralis and prime Liquid so far, with Faze possibly closing in on it now.
      That's the basics as far as I know. I might have gotten some things wrong, since I only watch CS casually, but hopefully gives you an idea of things. The way CS esports is structured is very different to something franchised like League, Overwatch, or Call of Duty, because the only thing Valve actually involves themselves in are the majors.

    Devin seems like a nice guy but is narrating is a little too low energy/monotone for my tastes. Maybe I’ve just gotten used to the way a lot of the other hosts put emphasis on certain words and use different tones in a performative way. It’s just with this video I just felt like I was watching somebody tell me what happened whereas usually I feel more immersed in the events/story. Just my personal thoughts and opinions though, i’m sure there are some people that really liked his more relaxed vibe.
