It's amazing how Wendigoon can talk about unknown events for hours and it can keep my attention span the whole time, but a spiderman movie loses me almost instantly.
The director was such an asshole and felt the need to tear down other Spider-Man movies and creators, which I think is partly why people are delighting in ripping this movie apart. How un-Spider-Man is it to make a movie out of spite? The guy just wanted to prove he knew the character better than other people and failed miserably.
Thank you!!! Yes! Someone said it! What he did to Jon Watts was so douchy. I respect Jon more than ever now. At least he was kind to everyone and did his own thing while not trashing Sam Raimi or Marc Webb or even Insomniac Games.
Goddamn, the bit about Spider-Man asking "why me?" actually being just the actor asking the director why hes even doing this shit.... Fkin got me with that one lmfaoo
I get the feeling that the reason there was a lot of flashbacks in Gavin's film is because of the 90s Animated Series as it seems like he's a massive fan of it as well as the comic books. In most fans' eyes, the 90s show and Spectacular Spider-Man are the most faithful to the source material. In this film, the composers incorporate the themes from the 60s and the 90s shows as well as a snippit of Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes during the scene with Tim but it's most the 90s cartoon that he heavily draws callbacks to. In that show, they did the EXACT same thing with flashbacks in a lot of the episodes when dumping exposition on certain villains and other Marvel heroes. You always tended to get a quick recap of their origin stories whenever they appeared on screen. Sometimes they got repetative because the producers probably thought that most kids were not gonna be able watch EVERY episode every week. But with Lotus, it gets more annoying as it is a feature length film and not a television series, so in that regard it really doesn’t work and slows the film down to a crawl.
That's a really good point! This film feels more like a filler Episode to pad out a season and catch people up on storylines, than it does a standalone movie. Great observations!
@SkorgeSlaps In that cartoon, they even adapted "The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man" which this movie tried to adapt and compared to this garbage, the cartoon did that story more justice. Great episode as well, go give it a watch!

I perfer the MCU Spider-Man movies(Homecoming, Far From Home and No Way Home)and Spiderverse animated movies over Lotus. Seriously, this film tied soo hard to be too "mature, serious, dark and depressing", it's so bad in my opinion. I love it when Spider-Man is primarily a balance of fun, lighthearted, emotional and dramatic, it's why I absolutely love MCU Spider-Man and the spiderverse movies, they're honestly the best spider-man movies in my opinion.
It feels like some edgelord discovered The Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and went "This needs more edge. More dark, gritty, depressing and violent. I want a Spider-Man for me. Something for the streets."
Well that just shows you how you haven't read the source material is the movie great? No but it was what it was supposed to be ....spiderman blue and the boy who collects Spiderman are not action packed comics the tones are darker and "depressing" as you call it so unlike the MCU he didn't try to change everything he stuck to the roots of again the source material
Okay, I don’t know if they could’ve hacked it with the budget, but why not just make Harry the villain? Here's my take: first, the seven minute 'Harry Osborne Walking Simulator' gets cut in half, and ends with him looking up at a screen with a report reading something like 'Spider-man No More?'. Harry then resolves to draw Spider-Man out of hiding and get revenge. Boom, villain mode. Add a scene in the middle featuring the last conversation he had with Norman, one where they both leave disappointed and frustrated. The final act happens after Peter leaves Tim's house (maybe the mom comes in and shows him a report of the Green Goblin's return). As they fight, Harry learns that Peter is Spider-Man and Peter learns that Harry is the new Goblin. At the end of the battle, they both come to terms with their regrets about the people they lost and then you cut to the scene at Tim's gravestone. I get that I added a lot (and it probably wasn’t even that good), but at least Harry has something to do now.
Negl, I genuinely found your commentary more interesting than the clips of the movie. Like you already said at some point in the video, there might be a good movie in there somewhere. There just seems to be a lot of focus on the wrong aspects of the movie though. Also, the biggest issue I had with this is that the mask is obviously too close to the actor's mouth, and it muffled his voice way too much
The villain of this movie is depression 🤣.... that describes this movie's plot perfectly. I was really bored to death while watching the movie thinking, where the hell are we going with this?, it is just one sad scenes after another. I didn't realize the movie was about Spider-man fighting Mr. Depression.
Half of the VFX looked bad coz they hired new ones, the previous VFX team left. Which is noticeable in the film where the swinging scenes look good but then the next frame of that same swinging looks so blender-y.
This movie was absolute shit. The Amazing Spiderman 2 was a better Spider-Man movie than this. Aleast in that film they made us care when Gwen Stacy died.
One of the wacky things ever in this whole film..... they didnt even bothered to NOT film near a Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow movie poster. But first things first, in this universe of the Spiderman Lotus a Black Widow movie is some kind of biographical movie?
I feel like this being a film, automatically takes away from what this film could be. If you have such a drawn out story that’s needs so many character based moments similar to stuff like daredevil or punisher, and you don’t already have sequels planned out for it, I feel like it being a web series could’ve drastically helped this project. Because we’ve seen that more character focused darker stories work so much better in a series than a film. As well as I think they should’ve started the film off with the kid and used the rest of the story as flash backs. Like the actual comic
When I found out about this project: fan made movie for fans bla bla bla, I thought: "This have to be good, we see passion and love for the hero and character!". And You know what? Nope. We only see lazy writing, pathetic hero and boring story almost like Hollywood's productions created only for $$$.

Big thing that took me out of the movie... In the under the bridge sequence, Peter's shirt is initially and conspicuously all the way buttoned up. When Gwen "rips" it open, it's clearly unbuttoned. Busted!! 😂
I don't think they were going for "Set the characters up" to begin with It's literally just, This Spiderman he is Peter Parker he wanted to Marry Gwen but she died That whole scene before hand was a huge flashback piece
All the research I did prior to recording didn't lead me to any of the actors, they only dealt with the director, so I definitely slipped up missing those points!
Literally no other criticism for this movie will be as bad for me as Peter getting those people killed by using them as human shields against the Shocker. That's all I need to know to hate it.
I knew this film would be a massive failure after I read through the full script that got leaked last year during the controversy. I mean reading every page, I could only see more crying than action or anything else. Even though the movie wasn't too awful imo, I'm not at all surprised to see all the negative reception.
