hey, i just wanted to let you know, it isn’t square because ratio isn’t right. i made this with a single crochet and it was square. in my experience, half double crochet checkers look best when done three rows and five stitches per square, double crochet is two stitches per row (four stitches and two rows per square. 6s to 3 r, 8s to 4 r, so on.)
if anyone wants theirs to be square, just use a single crochet instead.

One thing that helps with tapestry crochet is if you put it in a photo editor like canva, you can add the amount of stitches needed for each color change. So you would add a number at the start of a color change and that number represents how many stitches use that color before you change to the next color.
