The atmosphere is VERY different from other channels, as you don't demand likes, don't use advertisements, and don't rush through the content. In this fast-paced world it's refreshing when someone just takes their time to talk, and doesn't feel the need to remove every "empty" second from their video. This game is an overlooked gem imo. Hidden behind the shadow of Monster Hunter for soo long. While I like MH more, the spirit system of this game is really unique and I quite loved it back then. Pumped in hours on Toukiden kiwami and 2 on my vita!

Yep, Soul Sacrifice Delta. Great game. The other game that is *very* similar to Toukiden is God Eater (which however has a futuristic setting). And that one of course did make the jump to PS4 and Switch and PC. Toukiden is on PC, but crucially not on Switch. I could see it doing quite well on the Switch!

I personally haven’t played Toukiden, but I agree that a new addition to the series would be nice even though it seems to have been shelved. I have Monster Hunter Rise and I find it fun, though I struggle to find time to play it as much as I’d like because it’s hard to play in short intervals, which is why I’d like a similar game that’s more of a hack and slash than a hunt. Maybe one day! Also, I know you got the box for the Tenko plush but I’m always jealous of a good art book/the making of book!

Toukiden 2 was my first and I liked it so much, I actually sought out a copy on Vita just so I could play it on the go. My favorite thing was the open world. I wish Monster Hunter had a seamless open world as well, since it leans far more heavily into the "nature" aspect of hunting beasts than Toukiden does. You just can't go wrong with Toukiden's unique theming, as well. Ancient Japanese Monster Hunter is something a lot of people wanted, so I was very surprised it didn't do well enough to warrant a third title. It's so disappointing.
Congrats on your Vita, Mateus! I will continue to cover Vita games whenever possible - even though the audience for it has shrunk down to what I'd now call the hardcore stalwarts.

That sequence is probably just a dream, because they never talk about it again. 42:28 The "10 year slumber" was actually the time travel after the tutorial, which was during the Awakening. The protagonist was transported 10 years into the future, and around 1 year and a half after the events of Toukiden: Kiwami.

Wow, I used to have a PS Vita many years ago, it was an amazing console, specially back then. This brings back so many good memories. It was a simpler time. My favorite game is called soul sacrifice, it reminds toukiden a little bit but it's way more bizarre and dark. Nowdays in my country the PS Vita is a collectors item, really hard to get, it costs more than a brand new xbox. Thanks for the memories.
Oh, I remember playing and loving Toukiden Kiwami during my high school years! I was around 14-15 at the time and, being from Spain, english was not my first language so I think it really helped me a lot with that. I was a big Monster Hunter fan at the time (and still am) so I really appreaciated being able to have a similar gaming experience but in a completely different setting. I never got to play the second entry, but I will always remember fondly my time with Kiwami. Like always, very nice unboxing! And I hope you finally get into Monster Hunter if you ever decide to give it another chance, I'm sure that you would particularly like Stories and Stories 2 (maybe you have played them already), even if the main games don't hook you.
I found the demo's character creator alone incredible, let alone being one of the better monsterhunter-likes (better than god eater IMO). Definitely a shame how underrated this game is. Great overview of it's whole history ^_^
Kiwami got me through many a shift at work (at least till I moved on to Monster Hunter). Till this video,popped up, I gave up on trying to find Toukiden 2 for the Vita as the localized carts were expensive and downloading it would've devoured my memory card.
Which region are you in? I just had a look on Amazon and eBay UK and I see what you mean At least there are still a decent number of EU copies available.

Character customization has always been my bane. I’ve literally spent hours sometimes just creating one character. Soul Caliber was a game that comes to mind where this happened COUNTLESS times. I say bane because of the time spent, not because it wasn’t amazing.

Played it for about 20 hours and I was gonna buy it on PC, but bad reviews about optimisation scared me, and i was waiting for discount, i was waiting for too long, and the game got blocked in my country just like thousands of other games unfortunatly...
I wonder if you have heard of “Naruto.” I’m sure you have. That was the first introduction I had to the “Nine Tales,” and I don’t know of any other place that goes further with eight other tales beasts.
Yea, I have - a friend of mine is a deep fan of the series. I confess I have neither watched the anime nor have I ever played a Naruto game! I'm not much into fighting games, for obvious reasons (hand mobility).
Thats crazy, i was playing Toukiden Kiwami just yesterday. Good game, but i would still prefer playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Maybe it's because i like pokke village more than the town in Toukiden.
I have a very soft spot for MH Freedom Unite! It was one of the first PSP games on my Vita, all those years ago, and I just loved it. I will Never understand how Sony managed to let the franchise slip away from them. What a bananas decision was that? Ofc MH found a good home with Nintendo - not wanting to knock that - but if you're a business you don't let a valuable IP walk away from you.
I have these games on the PS4. Personally I like Toukiden 2 more as I feel they really expanded the world into more of an open world with some exploration quests.

If you like Toukiden, then you will like Monster Hunter ten times more, you really should try this great saga soon. The most recent installment Rise: Sunbreak is very friendly to new players, but if you want to try the real essence you should try the previous ones from Double Cross or Generations Ultimate
Why on earth would you assume I don't know Monster Hunter??? 🤔🙄 I have several MH games (even the old PSP ones), I mentioned MH Tri in my WiiU video. I play Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on my PS4 and love it. I have Sunrise available on Gamepass and started it there. Many people post "recommendations" without the simple step of checking with me first.
I finished the original game , and toukiden 2 as well. Never played kiwami , but after 150h of Toukiden 2 on my vita , I decided to stop for a while 😅😁 great games 🙂

i absolutely adore these games. In fact, i like them more than Monster Hunter just on the fact that i adore japanese culture. Toukiden's art, character design, soundtrack, characters, voice acting, story and everything else make me prefer Toukiden over Monster Hunter
If you are going to try a modern monster hunter try Rise. World is more graphically impressive but I think rise has more traditional monster hunter dna and subtle charm… and it has doggies. ;)
Loved the first game. Unfortunately the second game was a major misstep in my opinion. A half-hearted attempt at being "open world", and it gave a grappling hook to all weapon styles which means you can get airborne no matter what you're using, which just made many of the weapons feel same-y and pointless. I really didn't like it. I remember it didn't review well and no one really talks about the series now.

There is a spiritual successor to Toukiden coming soon called "WILD HEARTS". I hope it will be similar, I really miss the Toukiden games.
I found the demo's character creator alone incredible, let alone being one of the better monsterhunter-likes (better than god eater IMO). Definitely a shame how underrated this game is.

Kiwami got me through many a shift at work (at least till I moved on to Monster Hunter). Till this video,popped up, I gave up on trying to find Toukiden 2 for the Vita as the localized carts were expensive and downloading it would've devoured my memory card.

Character customization has always been my bane. I’ve literally spent hours sometimes just creating one character. Soul Caliber was a game that comes to mind where this happened COUNTLESS times. I say bane because of the time spent, not because it wasn’t amazing.

Ah this is one of my favorite series. I got the all the games on the vita via digital storefront. The second one was so good and everything I wanted for a squeal.
I hope Freedom Wars gets the same love one day, or Soul Sacrifice. Such great MonHun clones with potential that we'll probably be lost forever..

While the OLEDs are lovely, those Vitas are now getting seriously old. The Slims are generally still a bit newer.
You will have problems tearing yourself away from P4G! 😄

im a huge monster hunter fan, and i bought PS vita to play Soul Sacrifice. But then i found out Toukiden series. And bought Toukiden Kiwami. And it was amazing. Played it for about 20 hours and I was gonna buy it on PC, but bad reviews about optimisation scared me, and i was waiting for discount, i was waiting for too long, and the game got blocked in my country just like thousands of other games unfortunatly...
I wonder if you have heard of “Naruto.” I’m sure you have. That was the first introduction I had to the “Nine Tales,” and I don’t know of any other place that goes further with eight other tales beasts.
Yea, I have - a friend of mine is a deep fan of the series.
I confess I have neither watched the anime nor have I ever played a Naruto game! I'm not much into fighting games, for obvious reasons (hand mobility).

Thats crazy, i was playing Toukiden Kiwami just yesterday. Good game, but i would still prefer playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Maybe it's because i like pokke village more than the town in Toukiden.
I have a very soft spot for MH Freedom Unite! It was one of the first PSP games on my Vita, all those years ago, and I just loved it. I will Never understand how Sony managed to let the franchise slip away from them. What a bananas decision was that?
Ofc MH found a good home with Nintendo - not wanting to knock that - but if you're a business you don't let a valuable IP walk away from you.
I have these games on the PS4. Personally I like Toukiden 2 more as I feel they really expanded the world into more of an open world with some exploration quests.

If you loved God Eater (which I like and play too), chances are good you'll like Toukiden. The gameplay structure is very similar.

The most recent installment Rise: Sunbreak is very friendly to new players, but if you want to try the real essence you should try the previous ones from Double Cross or Generations Ultimate

I finished the original game , and toukiden 2 as well. Never played kiwami , but after 150h of Toukiden 2 on my vita , I decided to stop for a while 😅😁 great games 🙂

Tokyo Xanadu is a big Vita favourite of mine.
If you like Vanillaware and haven't played them yet, Odinsphere and Dragon's Crown are both excellent.
I've had a copy of the Vita game for a while but never played it not realizing what it was like and mainly because it's not a complete copy so it didn't fit my collection... But now I'm going to try to check it out 😊

@@Food4Dogs I meant that I like to have the box, art, and anything that came with the game along with the game itself. I bought it a while ago and it was cartridge only (Vita version) and yes... It doesn't have Kiwami. So I guess if it's an excellent game I could get a digital for the PS4...

On phones, bc of narrow space, Community is sometimes cut off on the right. You need to swipe that top menu (Videos, Playlist etc) to the Right - there you'll find a menu category "Community".

i absolutely adore these games. In fact, i like them more than Monster Hunter just on the fact that i adore japanese culture. Toukiden's art, character design, soundtrack, characters, voice acting, story and everything else make me prefer Toukiden over Monster Hunter

If you are going to try a modern monster hunter try Rise. World is more graphically impressive but I think rise has more traditional monster hunter dna and subtle charm… and it has doggies. ;)
I bought World (Ice something?) a while ago ... so that's likely the one I'll give a go.
Loved the first game. Unfortunately the second game was a major misstep in my opinion. A half-hearted attempt at being "open world", and it gave a grappling hook to all weapon styles which means you can get airborne no matter what you're using, which just made many of the weapons feel same-y and pointless. I really didn't like it. I remember it didn't review well and no one really talks about the series now.
