Karen Carpenter considered the Voice and best female drummer in the music world with perfect pitch and recorded most all of her songs in one take. Her brother is Richard, and they were the #1 selling american group of the 70's bar none. Many many many hits like 15 #1's on the easy listening charts, 14 in first 5 years, Karen passed 2/3/1983 from a heart attack. She suffered from anorexia nervosa an eating disease. They have sold over 150,000,000 million records and still climbing. R.I.P. drummer girl.
She was a jazz drummer, not necessarily a rock drummer. Speaking of which there was a dispute as to who was a better drummer, Karen or John bottom😏😮🥴🤪🧐😂

The version of this song you want to listen to is the one from the album, of the same name, “A Song for You.” This original version (not for tv) has a killer saxophone solo that really fills the song. There is a lot in their catalog even though Karen tragically died very young at age 32. My favorites: “Rainy Days and Mondays”, “Let Me Be the One”, “Ordinary Fool”, “I Just Fall in Love Again” and a great standard, “I Can Dream, Can’t I.” Enjoy the ride!

Karen Carpenter sang almost all of the songs the Carpenters recorded, but she also played the drums. In fact, she considered herself a drummer who could sing rather than a singer. There's a story that Led Zeppelin's drummer John Bonham was miffed when Playboy magazine ranked Karen above him in one of their rankings. There are videos of her singing while playing the drums on TH-cam.

I grew up on the carpenters and Karens had one of the most enchanting voices ever.
Hi! This is a beautiful performance but as you felt, it’s truncated. The audio version is complete with a sax solo and more. But this has Karen looking good. Karen died in 1983 at the age of 32. She had a heart attack brought on by Anorexia Nervosa. They were brother and sister. Richard played keyboards, arranged and orchestrated their music and with John Bettis wrote a good number of their songs and hits.

well hope you investigate further. Learn about them and their history. She had best voice and her "brother" also. I lived thru their history: not appreciated as much as they should have been. I was overwhelmed first listening to them. I was considered odd. Hope now newer generations feel differently.
The first song you should do after this is there first hit "close to you" its the one that started it all for them and it was a #1...for some reason this one was short, cant wait to see your next react from them
There is a 3 part video about an hour each this guy goes on location from where they grew up shows the school, where they lived and where she died, it's very good this guy is walking around with camera in hand the whole time.
But watch more of there vids to get to know them a bit, especially her not even wanting to sing she just wanted to play drums.
