I don't know about you guys, but I always found this song to be heavily underrated by a lot of the fans , it should have really been given a bit more recognition because it's such an epic tune
I heard this song so many times but not so long ago I started to explore the structure of this song. And the structure is similar to classical orchestral music. The first instrument in this composition is keyboard sounds like organ that transforms into synthesator and playing trough all song. Then the simple drums with scrathes set the rhytm and little later the bass guitar completes them. Before the second verse bass of drum machine helps rhytme section and adds depth to sound. To not left all keypad alone the electric guitar comes in and became another one instrument of musical section. The whole composition grows to culmination and breaks down into solo of keypad. Drums join later. Then bass and electric guitar coming back. Peaceful moment ends with new storm of all instruments. Seems like they have taken a liitle rest and now they are full of strenght. And in the final part all instruments fading exept keypad that playing along until the last moment where came back to its first form - organ.

It is there in the instrumental mix to harmonise the vocals. It's just not loud. A lot of Linkin Park songs have this mixing technique.
