First poem I’ve ever written 👉👈
    _“Shadows chase her_
    _Her beauty unhazed_
    _Does dark retract_
_When she lets the sun beam her rays?_
    _Or does she follow_
    _behind trees, clouds and lamps_
    _Hiding in the hollow_
    _Waiting for the day_
    _The day the sun rewinds_
_The moment she goes no further_
_When she smiles at the darkness_
_And no longer tries to disperse her”_
It’s about hope and unrequited love in the personification of the sun and the shadows.

I was kinda sad today so I just wrote a poem about loneliness lol
I wish to be alone and enjoy things one day,
But then realise how lonely I get the other day.
I wish to express my feelings with someone I can trust,
But I have to search for that someone with whom I can trust.
These thoughts keep me awake at night,
Forcing me to deal with the overthinking and anxiety tonight.
I wish I had someone whom I could rely on,
But then I think to myself, "is this how I will be moving on?"

      An interesting poem about loneliness!
Sometimes it is good to write about the subject or the emotion that you are currently feeling! I too, write about sadness when I'm sad, and loneliness, when I'm feeling lonely! I try not to write poetry for the sake of writing it!
I prefer to feel it , then write down my feelings!
I currently narrate all of my poetry on my yt channel, including several on loneliness!!

This is my first ever poetry:
Thought this was a normal connection with you,
Until I shared my deepest and darkest secrets with you,
Thought you were a wall that couldn't speak much,
But you were the one who listened to me the most,
Though distance can separate us apart,
    An intertwined connection that cannot.
I wrote this for a person who lives in a different country but they are the closest to my heart.

*I wrote this poem after watching this video!*
In between the unpredictions, a meeting unfolds,
Refills fragrance to the garden of life.
    Unscripted,unplanned,yet perfectly timed,
Drives life to a graceful ride.
Enters our orbit like a shooting star
Leaving the trail that brightens our path
Like a firefly they give hope in the dark
    Leaving an undelible mark
    The stars illumiante the sky
But these fireflies ornament our life on earth.
The kaleidoscope of moments with colors so bright
They paint our life with hues of delight.

This is my first poem and my english is not as good as be able to write, because I speak English as a foreign language. This is it :
I used to be a thing
    Now I'm just a remain
    I pretended being an ocean
    And denied the little stain
    I hated being that man
    I wish I didn't complain
I thought my soul was worthless
So I threw it in the drain
My life had past so fast
    Faster than a train
    I would to start over
    And have a chance again
Unhappily life is not a tree
And I am not a grain
I call it a letter from a dead man. Tell me what do you think about it '

I wrote my first poem and i used some words from the comments kudos to them
      It was a new day
      When i saw her first,
      Realised that
      It was pure love
      not lust.
      Her beauty unhazed
      Her eyes were so beautiful
      that it got me amazed.
      It seemed that
      Beautiful was definition of her
That it got me in a daze.
      Now im just a remain
      I pretended being an ocean
      And denied the little stain
      I hated being that notion
A love lost in the ocean.
I’m using ‘was’ because she isn’t with me,
A memory of what love used to be.

Hey just a passerby. As someone who writes already, I clicked this video wanting to go back to the fundamentals of poetry (to strengthen my writing). There is a lot of reliance on “my writing style.” And thus we saw how the creator of this video writes. That is a very laid back almost spoken style. A sole reliance on rhyme and feel, as opposed to juxtaposed ideas or conflicts. I’d recommend adding allusions, alliterations, and conflict. No tamed or controlled body of water can even compete with the beautiful chaos of the ocean

  • @tamtam3290
    @tamtam3290 ปีที่แล้ว +18

I went into this video expecting a really tedious step-by-step process that would generalise the art of writing poems, but finished it completely agreeing with everything you said-
The advice you give really hones in with what I think poetry should be about: emotion. Telling people to write poetry within their comfort and leasure is how the best poetry is created, because it directly leads to genuine poetry, in which genuine emotions are established and communicated.
When I write poetry, I make myself go through a really specific structure of finding out how the poem will be formatted, how many syllables per line, whether it's iambic (although, I never stick with that idea-) and how I can subvert it to create meaning. However, this is *always* after I have an idea that makes me want to write. I think that over anything, the emotion that goes into poetry is far more important than the quanity or images or language it has, for emotions in poetry (or any artistic form) eatablish quality.
Personally, I think your poetry guide really promotes this idea about people's interests being put over the idea that 'good' and 'bad' poetry exists, which encourages everyone to be included within writing poetry. Whether it is something that a child wrote in ten minutes or Percy Shelly's 'Ozymandias,' they cannot be compared due to how human emotions are the priority of poetry. That's why I love this guide- it doesnt make people feel like there is one way to learn poetry or forges them into sonnets or odes, it simply encourages them to *do* poetry. That is what poetry is all about, after all.

Sometimes I challenge myself to write when I’m not in the mood to write. For example, maybe I would try to write a poem about not being in the mood to write poetry lol or a poem about silence, blank space, etc. doesn’t have to be a poem or song though, it can just be a journal entry and doing that sometimes helps.

I love this video! This is my first poem (It's a really specific topic)
When I told you I didn't place at the competition,
you laughed and said it was okay.
That it didn't matter too much.
Obviously you laughed...I was laughing too.
I was laughing not because it was funny,
but because I could not allow myself to cry.
My thoughts were running around with needles,
and I knew that if a tear slipped, the waterfall would never end.
One breath in, one breath out.
Words created a blockage in my throat.
Two breaths in, two breaths out.
I gulped on my saliva to repress the words.
It wasn't even the stupid competition.
Twice before I didn't place, so what does that mean?
Am I not improving? Am I not growing?
Am I stuck in the same, lost place I was two years ago?
I keep trying to blame everything and everyone.
    Maybe my judge was biased.
    Maybe my partner screwed up.
Maybe the entire competition was just rigged.
    I guess I'll never know.
I'm done with this rat race.
Let others fight till the end for a title of a string of letters.
    I'm paving my own path.
Can someone please give me tips?

    Pretty chains
    All over my body
They hold me even if it hurts
I cant remember who put them on me to begin with
    I can’t imagine them off
So I leave them as they are

    BEST POEM IN THE WORLD
    --------------------------------------------
In the realm of words, where verses dance,
I shall endeavor to take a chance,
To craft a poem, a masterpiece divine,
A tapestry of words, where meanings intertwine.
Behold, the canvas, blank and pure,
Where dreams and musings shall endure,
With ink as my brush, and thoughts as my ink,
I shall paint a portrait that makes hearts sink.
I'll weave a tale of love's sweet embrace,
Of whispered promises and tender grace,
Where souls entwine in eternal flame,
Bound by the echoes of a lover's name.
I'll wander through nature, the poet's muse,
Where melodies of birdsong softly infuse,
The rustling leaves and babbling streams,
A symphony of life, where beauty gleams.
I'll venture to realms of sorrow and pain,
Where tears fall freely like droplets of rain,
To paint the resilience of the human soul,
Amidst adversity, it finds its role.
I'll soar through the cosmos, to stars untold,
Where mysteries lie, waiting to unfold,
In celestial tapestries, a story untamed,
Of wonder and awe, forever unnamed.
I'll delve into history's intricate lore,
    Unearth forgotten tales, forevermore,
From ancient civilizations, rise and fall,
    Legends and heroes, captivating all.
I'll celebrate laughter, joy, and delight,
The moments that make our spirits take flight,
In the tender embrace of friendship's embrace,
In shared laughter, we find solace and grace.
And as I conclude this grand design,
This poem, the best in the world, I opine,
I offer it humbly, with love and with art,
A piece of my soul, a gift from the heart.
For poetry knows no bounds or borders,
It connects us all, believers and non-believers,
So cherish its power, let your spirit unfurl,
In the beauty and wonder of the best poem in the world.

    Dreaming
It's funny how much your life is filled with such a beautiful word, with so many meanings, and you most of the time don't even realize.
    Dreaming while you sleep.
    Daydreaming.
Dreaming. Wishing for something to happen.
    Things you do daily.
    But after I met you..
It's like every way the word dreaming can be used, it was about you.
My dreams where flooded by you.
Daydreaming of what it would be like if you and I where a thing.
Dreaming. Wishing you'd like me like I like you.
    But they where just dreams.
Sometimes, dreams can be a good things.
    magical.
But sometimes it can leave you shattered.

Something so visceral that I couldn't comprehend
The merciful way you love, it's lust
and the disillusion of this relation, it rusts
    Like a folk forsaken prophecy
Like the past prerequisites were lost on me

Poem or Notebooks never worked for me. I like to use poetizer or google docs to write on. I agree, yes rhymezone is great resource, as well as synonymns. You had a great note on rhymes, near rhymes are much more enjoyable to read than exact rhymes which can feel forced. I totally get the whole not knowing what something means. The poem is kind of a way to understand how you're feeling, but also a poem is not a puzzle.

So I wrote a poem last night, inspired by (and co written by) my friend, about struggling mentally, depression and recovery (of several things). This is it.
    *The Swing Set*
Every year, winter comes and all the plants die, but their roots stay in the ground and they grow back in the spring.
There will always be a winter, but that means spring will always be coming.
You just need to make it through the winter so your plants can grow again.
Some years, permafrost infects the ground, only thawing a couple times and then freezing back up again.
But the grass always grows back again even if it takes longer.
Sometimes, it feels like the grass won’t grow. And it doesn’t for a long time.
    But it does eventually.
No matter how long it takes, it always grows back.
And while you’re waiting, you can put down some wood chips and set up a swing set to help cope without the presence of the grass.
“I don’t have the materials or tools to build the swing set. There aren’t any stores I know of close by.”
I have a few pieces you can have, the swing might be rickety or kinda rusty but it’ll be a swing.
Or, you could borrow mine for a bit it’s kinda messed up, but it swings sometimes.
“I don’t wanna take away from your swing set though.”
I can manage for a while i’m quite good at being without a swing because mine falls apart a lot because I don’t know much about building swing sets.
Though my swing is rusted, and it’s ropes frayed, a knotted on a good day where it’s not falling from the tree as a result of a squirrel chewing the rope, or maybe shoddy craftsmanship, I will let you have a go and swing as high as you can, and if the rope breaks, I’ll catch you and simply put it back together again.

My first love poem (written this at 4am and used tools to make it better..)
Relationship is like a rollercoaster, the thrill grows calm.
I wonder why we seek more when the charm is gone.
Do the tracks become milder, made for children's delight?
Lost in thought, I yearned for the old days, wild and bright.
Amidst the twists and turns, I looked around to see,
The tracks remained the same, a familiar journey for me.
Then it struck me, the wildest rides I've known,
Are the ones I'm on now, not too wild, not too prone.
Nestled in my seat, hand and handle, gently entwined,
I find comfort and security, a love that feels kind.
No need for extremes, this ride feels just right,
Safe and content, as we hold each other tight.
I slowly opened my mouth and said, I love this ride.

@@theprehistoricpoet Hi, of course I don't mind it! Yeah I write for pleasure and I guess I can share with you one of my first poems I made recently.
      Here it is:
      A Void
      I see pure nothingness,
      Hear a silent whispering,
Feel the promise of eternal sleep,
      An easy escape from reality.
      The void attracts me,
      But I repel from it,
      Saying no,
      I've been warned.
      A void I'm avoiding,
      Is avoiding me back.
      Enough to not want it,
It will cause you to elapse.
I have no idea what style it is, but I guess you could say that every poet has their own style, so yeah. Thanks for your comment!

Thank you for sharing your first poem with me! If you hadn't have mentioned that it was your first attempt, I would have guessed that you are a seasoned poet!
Much of your style and layout, is similar to what I have used in the number of my poems ! Both you and I write I for fun and enjoyment, and to share with others! My style varies from poem to poem! I write on different subjects , love, loneliness, heartbreak, depression & social issues!
I cannot just sit down and write, I need to be inspired by my own feelings, or something that is happening around me!
I try not to overthink! Poems will write themselves! Layout and structure will come to you naturally and will change from poem to poem!
I posted all my poems on a poetry writing site, I also store them on yt in the comments section in one of my shorts! Never seen anyone else do this on😂
I have also started to narrate my poems on my channel.

Great tips. I'm "a little" older than you, and probably all your audience. I go through phases of wanting to continue writing.
Doing rewrites, poetry drills, challenges, and entering competitions will help improve too. Rewrites aren't just about making a poem the best it can be. They're also about expressing the same thought in a different form of poem, style, structure, or what-have-you. They can be a real challenge to stretch your art. Drills are to make you an accomplished poet by making you leave your comfort zone. Write in different meters. Write across different styles of poem. Write parodies of famous poems. There are all kinds of drills and all of them will push your boundaries.
I did a poetry challenge with the "I Am" poem this week. I have a narration of my first version and a rewrite in my "Narrations" playlist.
    The rewrite is as follows:
    I am the light
    that chases the night,
    a spark in amber,
    burning bright.
    I wonder:
    wall-rue clothed in morning dew
    and nodding bonnets of feverfew.
    I hear hoofbeats,
    a pursuing wight.
    The flight ensuing,
    a penultimate sight
I see a deer that dies.
    Its plaintive cries
gave guise to my soul's eyes.
I want to shew some daily due
    of songless birds
    that frailly flew.
    I am the light
    that chases the night,
    a spark in amber,
    burning bright.
    I pretend to portend
    and pensive perbend
    saddles a Sybil's omen.
    To you I propend,
    I feel fealty
    wielded weightily.
    They yielded artfully
a drama they penned for me.
    I touch tacit the moulage,
    a dictum placit,
    and dutifully dismiss it,
    a fait accomplit.
    I worry the fear
    is as extreme
    as it is near.
    "Unseen by no seer!"
    I cry in plangent,
    tangential tone I moan,
    the sounds soft
    as under leaden loam,
    "I am the light
    that chases the night,
    a spark in amber
    burning bright."
    I understand
    with disturbed,
    drunk despair,
    the malodorous air
    that tarries there.
    I say,
    nay, lament lugubriously,
that silent as a Sarcophagus I sleep.
I dream no more of bark-rimed morn,
    of Sun ascending forlorn,
    accursed by Aten's lore.
    I try to redress,
    and profess profusely
    that exudes effusely.
    I aggress abstrusely,
"I hope the fancy idol nothing more
than an idle fancy idle is."
    I am the light
    that chases the night,
    a spark in amber
    burning bright.

    1st poem
In the light of the shining moon,
You sought a rose too soon,
    .
    ...
    .....
    Leaving the moon that glows,
I sprint into the darkened woods,
    Discover a radiant rose,
    Return to you,
    with blood upon my hand,
I find the moon is hiding,
    at your command,
    The wind inquired,
"Why is there blood upon your hand?"
    I replied softly,
"Pain in love, thorns in the Rose, I understand."
    The aura of your presence
    Vanishes from this space,
Can you also fade from the heart?
    I plead for grace.
    ......
    In the end,
    the moon emerged laughing,
    I shouted, "Cease it!"
    ......
    ......
    ......
    Then I questioned,
The reason for your laughter and glee,
    Moon replied,
    "And where is the person
you used to compare with me?"
    .....
    ...
    .

What do you think of this poem I wrote? It’s called The Man and the Girl.
The man gives me roses to love.
The man gives me gifts to have.
The man gives me to money to spend.
Then he met the girl and left me.
The man gives her roses to love.
The man gives her gifts to have.
The man gives her to money to spend.
Then the man and the girl got married and not me.

Funny story for yous if your bored -
When i was in kindergarten up in till year 4 everyone was sayng ‘the more books you read the more words you will know’, and i would NEVER read books, even though the school would give us awards for reading i would pretend i had read books when i hadnt because i hated reading, ended up being a poet and i still am better than that kid who told me i would go no where without reading in 3rd grade. Also my mum was a poet too so maybe i got it from her? Anyways x

What is it that you have , that others don't possess
The way you talk ,blessed with that sweet tone.
The way it mesmerises me , I can't even tell the time gone.
With having you on the other side talking , there isn't even a slight fatigue even in the 50 minutes of walking.
They say time flies fast while doing something you love , it's true hearing your chatter can make anyone's heart flutter.
Maybe I know what you possess , it's your elegance that makes me obsess.

    wrote my first poem!!💫
    LET ME LIVE
with all the sorrows I dwell in my mind,
let me live in a world of mine.
where no one asks about my grades
and no one cares about how much I make
let me live in a world of mine
    where I can be divine
let me live....let me live my life
let me live in a world where everyone understands ..me,
as well as my state of mind.
All the thoughts stacking up in my mind,
building up a hill that I can never climb
let me live...let me live my life
I feel an enormous burden on my chest,
killing me from inside every time I rest
let me die for mistakes of my own,
every night I cry...I cry on bed of my own.
dumping my face into sheets so deep,
and crying my heart to sleep.
no one can knw the pain of me you,
even if they tell they understand you.
all the pressure that you give,
    its not you!
its the life that you live
I know the pain that you suffer through,
for it is the same for me and you,
    let me live my life,
    I plea to you all,
for it is not the same for me and for you all

    (My first poem written because of your encourage );
    /Topic: Enter by the portal/
By breakdown the wall of limiting
being captured to the space of creating
And we are dive to the ocean of exploring
We see things incredible from our eyes
Keep the indelible through thou hearts
Search the most indomitable by all our minds.
How far we have to learn ?
Was concerned as the deepest cliff
    Below the hell.
In which the corner couldn't be seen
    And dug up in an
    Immeasurable manner .
How far we have to apply ,what we have learned ?
Was considered as the longest sky

    Running away
    Would be so easy
But I must wait til day
    Yelling, screaming
Too loud for ears to hear
    So hot its cold
    Life has lost all meaning
    Run, run as far as
    My legs can take me
    Please, something
    Nothing
    Next best escape
    Is running away
    But my mouth is taped
    So my sorrows
    Will never be heard
    Till tomorrow,
    Day

    Title: Tost feelings
I find myself saying ''I feel" a lot
My whole life I had these big feelings inside of me that I couldn't express
    So I locked them up
    Deep inside of me
People told me ''be quiet be well- behaved''
    So I was
I let people walk over me and learned to be submissive
    But here I am
    Grown and lost
    My feelings tost across
    Who am I?
I no longer have to deny
    All my feelings
    Need healings
    So I try
    To live my life
No longer held by the knive

I've always wanted to write poetry and this video helped me write my first one, I've titled it "Flamma"
I am searching for a fire,
Something for which to warm my bones
And to ignite my soul like a funeral pyre
Like a moth to a candle I am drawn to the flare
Of a million lights singing, like an iridescent choir
I yearn so strongly to see the bright glare
Of that beautiful flame for which I desire
It can burn with the strength of a thousand stars
Or be as subtle as a thieving liar
It matters not what kind is ours
For of yours I will never tire
And so my wandering continues on,
Yet still I search for a fire

_to cease and flee from the bask of the sun just to protract and prolong my peace?_
    _but mostly from myself?_
    _my own judgement and convictions?_
_the fragile and silent steps i take?_
_the consistent need to be vigilant for me not to feel execrable?_
_once, just once i long, crave to be free._

    Here’s my poem:
    Poem name: Midnight Blue
    [Stanza]
    I don’t wanna die, but I don’t wanna live, but I do
I don’t wanna fly, but I don’t wanna land either, but I do too
I don’t know what it is whether it be the raging at nothing from Coke or whether it be the crying in my room for another chance to fly with the eagles and touch heaven again.
I just don’t know and I’m afraid that someday I won’t even know myself anymore
I’m afraid that one day every Bible verse I read like psalms, Corinthians, or Romans will one day fly my mind and escape out the door where all of the bygones may lay.
I’m afraid that one day I will forget you and forget myself too
    [Stanza 2]
    There’s a wall with a man inside
Aiden, Valentino, Acilia, Alice, Divine and I, all try to break the wall to figure out who this strange ethereal man is.
The fireflies are crying as they’re trying harder and harder to forget it all
Los Angeles is crying as he’s dying
Meanwhile Aiden, Valentino, Acilia, Divine and I break the wall
Only to realize that that man is me
    [Stanza 3]
Everything that my rage sees is red
Like the red wine, red Mercedes, and cherry lime that I cherish with all my heart
Deep down I’m still that little boy that I used to be; sweet to the core but dull on the surface
It’s just that now, the sun rises and covers it with a heavier blue that mankind has not ever put their hands on yet
    [Verse 4]
Valentino, please, stand me on my tippy toes as the night covers up the woes
Seal the sealed bruises even more and cherish them with pink bows
Because as time and time goes on I realize I can’t do everything with one fist and will eventually have to use more fists
To the crows, please don’t add me to your list of darkness
Let the doves shine me so bright, ethereally, and angelically
Let me be free, let me be a passion
As I am a brother of two, a son of two, and a friend to who
As I travel back to the heavens, I say farewell to my woes and breathe in the midnight blue

I have a poetry competition tommorow and I started writing poems by using random topics. The first one was on the topic rainbow. It need a lot of work so if there is any advice please mention : )
    The rainbow portrays emotions
    Which the human beings express.
    From eyes filled with devotion
    To times when they depress.
The pure violet and Indigo so deep
Shows power to rule a kingdom in need.
The garment which the royals keep
To show that they are powerful indeed.
Blue a color filled with sorrow
The tears you shed, for someone you couldn't save.
Green a shade for minds so narrow
    Their souls,so evil and grave.
    Warmth spread through yellow, in
The joy and fun in kids that played.
    Orange depicts mindfulness from within;
Robes of saints and monks,so great.
The crimson red is the epitome
Of both love and hate alike.
How, could a force of nature like this be
Able to epitomize emotions so wild.

Yeah, it feels like living in fantasy
but it will not gonna happen in this reality
To dear me, don't worry one day u will find your dream soulmate

Hi, this is my very first attempt at writing something !! I wanted to give it to my boyfriend as a gift for his birthday. He likes writing poetry a lot and has written many for me and others. I wanna write one for him this time. I feel very lost because I'm more familiar with drawing.
May my tears ever be wiped away
With your fingers and your kisses
May my arms ever be a sanctuary
For all your sorrows and your blisses
May my hand ever be held by yours
Just like when we're at the altar
May my legs ever lead to you
Wherever you are and never falter
May my lips ever be pressed against yours
As they were meant to be from the start
May I bleed dry of all the love, for you
And never feel love again for another.

I'm lost in your eyes, look at you, ethereal sight
Don't tell me your name, no I know it's Mr. I should stay away
Don't tell me your name, no, not before hindsight
Don't tell me your name, no, even though I'm sure it'll serve me more gratification still what about the aftermath's medication
Don't tell me your name, even though I want to know it so bad, Mr. All that I want
    But what if
You're like the others, the one who breaks my heart.

Here is the first poem I ever wrote.
    Silly words
    Your silly words
    cut my cheeks.
    A flock of birds
    with razor beaks.
    I resist
    it lurks...
    To myself
    it smirks...

I used to be so careful
with what I let myself feel
    sure, my life was dull
and I was unaware of how surreal
it was to be loved passionately
    but I was defended.
never felt like I had to flee,
    or felt like I depended
on how someone else thought of me
so sure, my life was boring
but I never felt this doomed
because your passion was so unenduring
it has left my heart an open wound

My poem : (Please dont judge) Its about a failed person winning in life because of motivation and hardwork.
In the depths of despair, where shadows linger long,
A soul once lost found solace in a new song.
Through the darkest night, where hope seemed to flee,
A spark ignited, whispering, "You can still be."
For though the world may scorn and fate may frown,
The heart that beats within shall not be weighed down.
With each new dawn, a chance to start anew,
To rise above the past, to dreams once more be true.
For though the road is long, and the journey rough,
The spirit within shall never say "enough."
So let the failures of the past be but a guide,
To steer the course, with faith and pride.
For in the heart of the one who dares to dream,
Lies the strength to rise, to conquer, to redeem.
For in the end, it's not the fall that defines,
But the courage to rise, and the will to shine.

    My poem-
    I sat down and wondered,
    Wondered about Sun and stars.
Behold the beauty of misty landscapes.
    And admire you from afar.
You looked like a dream, a mesmerizing one.
You Remind me of calmness of an ethereal evening sun..
Your smile reminds of sky, a sky in lighter shade.
I love you so much and now im no longer afraid.
I was afraid of unknowns, afraid of heartbreaks.
But if its about you my heart now no longer aches.
In your eyes, i find peace, a gentle embrace
A love so pure, that it transcends time and space.
Your eyes, like galaxies, mysterious and deep.
Captivating you in my eyes, i always go to sleep.
With hope that my love goves you strength, i end my lines.
May these cool breeze carry my love to you, so does these warm sunshines.
I wrote this poem for my first love...❤😅
