How Professional Cleaners Disinfect COVID-19-Contaminated Areas

  • In the COVID-19 era, the task of cleaning and disinfecting areas takes on a crucial role.
Professional cleaners take on a frontline role against the deadly virus. Deemed an essential service in Illinois, cleaning companies are working through the state’s stay-at-home order.
The cleaners at Chicago-based Rozalado Services wear full PPE - including a jumpsuit and respirator - when they clean an office building, healthcare facility, manufacturing plant or other place where a confirmed COVID-19 case spent time.
Rozalado Services managing partner Tony Pedroza said the company’s cleaners, including himself, have reported to 13 confirmed COVID-19 sites where they perform a three-step disinfection process. Pedroza said the company has performed the service as a preventive measure at an additional 68 locations.
“We’ve gone into locations that have definitely had confirmed COVID-19 cases as recent as the person left an hour ago or the person hadn’t been there for a week,” Pedroza said.

Its crazy to think that schools might expect their custodians to do this along with their other duties within a short amount of time and everyday. Even a small phase of this is adding on a tremendous amount of work to the load. There is no funds for the amount of work, cleaning supplies, and ppe to do all that.

Another good option is using UV sanitizing lights. I got one last year to kill dust mites in my house, which worked amazingly, however, I read that these lights work on killing other viruses including Covid -19. I couldn't be happier with the results. I just leave it on in several rooms of the house while I'm gone to work, and when I return the house smells really fresh and I feel a lot safer knowing me and my family are that much safer. It's honestly worth is having that peace of mind, and they are pretty inexpensive. These are the ones I got on Amazon. I've got 3 of them for a 2 story house. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FMJNBRN/ref=cx_skuctr_share?smid=A3VK2NNBFEDG5 www.amazon.com/Germbusteruv-Eliminator-Bacteria-Dustmite-Electric/dp/B07FMQ8643/ref=sr_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=Pur+UV&qid=1615582537&sr=8-17

Walking out of the building with your gear still on, not using a red biohazard bag i can go on but whos the professional here. Stop scamming people. One of my locations asked me to do a full building wipe down. No way. They hired a company and I spent hours cleaning up their mess. Residue all over. My wiindows looked like someone smeared them with milk. Some areas they never even touched nor sprayed. Next time I will use my own sprayer, steamers and do it myself. Of course, billed them for all the extra cleaning to make the surfaces look like they are cleaned and not like someone just sprayed something all over and left it. Leave it better than you found it, not worse.

I hear you pal. Too many cowboys think they can spray a high spec chemical and eradicate the need for cleaning !
      Clean (degrease) then sanitize (disinfect)
Does not work any other way.

Very informative video. I own a janitorial service and we are in the process of adding a Fogging & Spraying Disinfection Service. We are located in Winston-Salem NC. and service the Piedmont-Triad area. Can you give me an idea of how you price the service in your market area. I want to be competitive and fair but not overcharge for the service. For more information about us visit www.myeco4life.com. We would also be open to subcontracting opportunities if you have service request in our area. Thanks for your help.
