    Triple Crown would be a helluva cherry on top of an unbelievable regular season for Shohei. 😁

      Supposedly Arraez will play tomorrow, which increases the chance a little (but only if his avg. goes down).

    If Arraez doesn’t play (again) tomorrow, Ohtani needs 4 hits. 4-4 or 4-5 will win the batting title and triple crown.

      I was surprised stat-man Jeff closed the door on Shohei overtaking Arraez for the batting title. I would be surprised, but not shocked, if Shohei snatches the batting title from Arraez.

      @@yadthink It’s all in the math. If Arreaz goes 1-1, or gets 2 hits at all, he wins. If he doesn’t play, you already know. If he plays and doesn’t get a hit, Ohtani still needs at least 2 hits.

    Do we need to we reminded that Max Muncy’s career was slightly derailed on the last day of the season in 2021? He was a much more dependable offensive monster before the injury and the Dodgers missed his presence in the lineup during that particular post season and he struggled mightily in future seasons.

    • @pandemic7
      @pandemic7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Statistically speaking, Max Muncy was better this year than his ‘21 season. In fact, he was comparable to his best season in 2019. Not trying to one up you but just thought it was worth mentioning.

    • @Publiclighthouse
      @Publiclighthouse วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@pandemic7- I think his offensive stats are largely forgotten this season because he was out for so long (around 3 months?) with that oblique strain. Also, it took him just over two years to get back from where he was in 2021 until where he is now.

    I'm holding my breath that Freddie is close to 100% for game 1 of the playoffs. His injury brought back bad memories of Max getting injured during game 162 in '21. And Cody getting injured while celebrating with Kiké.

    It doesn't matter that they bannered the best record in baseball again, it is certainly not because of the decisions roberts has made during the regular season. Most of them have been incompetent. You claim yourselves 'credentialed' reporters...do you actually analyze each game?.
    Now the season that counts starts next week. This is where manager's decisions need to be importantly crucial especially with a poor and inconsistent starting rotation. Historically roberts has shown to be a poor decision making manager during October and even during the regular season. I dont care how many divisional titles the Dodgers have had. I want WS titles. That is what really matters.

    Walt Alston whose lifetime winning % was not nearly as good as Robert's record, still Alston lasted about two decades without fans & journos crying because of perceived inadequacies. Yet, toay's fans & journos constantly lament that Roberts doesn't win sufficiently or in a preferred style. I have two responses: thank God for wiser people such as Friedman & not the above ilk; and what does this say when comparing today's sports fans to fans from the 50's, 60's & 70's, when Walt managed? When Walter hired Kasten, who then hired Friedman I knew absolutely that the Dodgers were going to be very successful; and when you have management that has few if any equals, I will never question their judgement concerning the hiring & retention of Dave Roberts, who exemplifies many of the qualities Americans ought to value. Winning isn't everything; mostly it's about how one conducts oneself.

    • @maxsmart8954
      @maxsmart8954 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Friedman and his analytics are the foundation for Roberts success in a 162 game season but not in a 5 or 7 game series. Alston had no GM spouting strategies based on analytics. Alston managed without input from Campanis and with baseball knowledge from experience and instinct. Two different eras. Two different ways of managing.

      @jdkwww Thx for supporting Dave. The critics who say he should have more WS titles seem to think having a great team guarantees playoff success, when the reality, as stated by all of the DodgerHeads, is that the playoffs are pretty random. In fact, IIRC, only 1 NL top seed has made it past the NLDS in the expanded-playoffs era. Re: Dave's game management, there's a natural bias to credit the players when Dave's decisions work out, yet blame Dave when the players don't come through. I was glad to hear Jeff and Matt give some props to Dave.
